  • Chargers' Quentin Johnston: WRs to Sit
    By Jamey Eisenberg

Johnston is worth adding in the majority of leagues after his performance in Week 2 at Carolina with five catches for 51 yards and two touchdowns on six targets, but you don't have to start him in Week 3 at Pittsburgh. The Steelers have yet to allow a receiver to score a touchdown this season and have held Drake London and Courtland Sutton to a combined three catches for 41 yards on seven targets. Stash Johnston on your bench, and hopefully he'll continue to remain a go-to target for Justin Herbert so you can use Johnston as a reliable Fantasy option later in the year.

  • Johnston looked great in Week 2 at Carolina with five catches for 51 yards and two touchdowns on six targets, and he now has 11 targets in two games for the Chargers. After a disastrous rookie campaign in 2023, he's off to a much better start in his sophomore season, which hopefully will be a sign of things to come. Just keep in mind that the Chargers are going to be a run-dominant team all year, and Johnston now faces the Steelers in Week 3 after two easy matchups against the Raiders and Panthers. And I still like Ladd McConkey as the best Chargers receiver for the remainder of the season. Still, it's worth taking a flier on Johnston to see what develops, and he should be added in all leagues for at least 10 percent of your remaining FAB.

  • A 23-year-old former first round pick tied to Justin Herbert just scored 22.1 PPR Fantasy points in one game. He needs to be rostered just about everywhere and if you don't need a starter this week he is the top waiver wire add at wide receiver. I just don't want to trust him in my starting lineup against a Steelers defense that has completely dominated opposing passing games so far this season. Through two weeks Johnston leads the team in target share, air yards, and end zone targets.

  • Johnston brought in five of six targets for 51 yards and two touchdowns in the Chargers' 26-3 win over the Panthers on Sunday. The ground game once again took center stage for the Chargers on Sunday, but Johnston created some fireworks for fantasy managers with his 29- and five-yard touchdown grabs in the first half. The second-year wideout had been talked up during the summer as a potential breakout candidate, and despite modest passing numbers for Justin Herbert thus far, Johnston is certainly showing flashes of potentially taking on the mantle of a No. 1 receiver in the future. He'll look to conquer the tough matchup presented by the Steelers defense on the road in Week 3.

  • Johnston tallied three receptions on five targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 22-10 win over the Raiders. Johnston was actually the team's leading receiver heading into the fourth quarter, but two of his catches were first-read looks for minimal yards and his longest, a 16-yard reception, came on a shallow crossing route with the defense stationed way back to prevent a third-and-long conversion. It's at least encouraging that quarterback Justin Herbert trusted Johnston on the designed looks given the second-year receiver's struggles in his rookie year, but it'll be interesting to see if Joshua Palmer and Ladd McConkey continue to generate more opportunities as the season progresses.
