Jarrett caught on with the Steelers on the practice squad in early September after failing to make the Buccaneers' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. The 24-year-old wideout will explore his next opportunities and look to sign with a team in need of pass-catching depth.

  Jarrett signed with the Steelers' practice squad Monday. Jarrett failed to make the Bucs' 53-man roster this summer. The 24-year-old wide receiver has appeared in 20 career regular-season contests with Tampa Bay, recording 13 catches for 184 scoreless yards on 20 targets.

  Jarrett brought in one of two targets for 18 yards and returned one kickoff for 19 yards in the Buccaneers' 29-7 preseason win over the Titans on Saturday night. Jarrett began his latest longshot bid for a roster spot with a solid performance relative to opportunity. The third-year wideout has managed to generate a 13-184 receiving line on 20 targets across 20 regular-season games in the last pair of campaigns, and he also added kickoff returns to his workload in 2024 and finished with 141 yards in that capacity. Jarrett's special-teams prowess may be what helps him latch on to a roster spot again this summer, and he's likely to continue seeing plenty of snaps over the remaining two exhibition contests.

• Buccaneers' Rakim Jarrett: No targets on seven snaps

  Jarrett did not log a target over seven snaps on offense during the Buccaneers' 27-19 win over the Saints on Sunday. He finished the 2024 regular season with nine receptions for 124 yards on 11 targets and 141 kickoff-return yards in 10 games. The speedy wideout had little opportunity for action with Sterling Shepard making his return from a one-game absence prompted by hamstring and foot injuries. Jarrett saw one fewer snap than fellow reserves Ryan Miller and Trey Palmer, and all three players are likely to primarily be limited to special-teams duties during the Buccaneers' upcoming postseason run.

• Buccaneers' Rakim Jarrett: Makes reception in Week 17 win

  Jarrett secured his only target for 11 yards and returned one kickoff for 15 yards in the Buccaneers' 48-14 win over the Panthers on Sunday. Jarrett had posted one catch for six yards on his sole target in the Week 16 loss to the Cowboys while adding 69 kickoff-return yards, and although he wasn't as successful in the latter capacity Sunday, he did see more action on offense. Jarrett's 25 snaps (32 percent) actually outpaced Trey Palmer by two plays and represented the former's most significant participation rate from scrimmage since Week 10. If Sterling Shepard (hamstring/foot) remains sidelined for a Week 18 home matchup against the Saints, Jarrett could be similarly involved versus New Orleans.
