• Tanner Brown: Joins team again

  Brown signed with the Rams' practice squad Tuesday. Brown has had multiple stints in Los Angeles, most recently spending training camp with the team before being waived in August. However, he's never kicked in an NFL regular-season game. That could change in Week 3 due to Joshua Karty dealing with a groin injury; however, the rookie kicker is expected to be fine for Sunday's game against the 49ers. If Karty were to suffer a setback, though, Brown would likely be elevated to handle the job.

  The Rams waived Brown on Tuesday. Brown didn't attempt a field goal in Sunday's preseason game against the Cowboys, while Joshua Karty made both of his field-goal attempts and converted his lone extra-point attempt. Should he clear waivers, Brown will look to catch onto a team in need of a kicker. He converted 22 of 23 field-goal attempts and converted all 42 of his extra-point attempts in his final collegiate season with Stanford in 2022.

• Rams' Tanner Brown: Returning to L.A.

  The Rams signed Brown to a reserve/future contract Thursday. Brown was thought to be in line to serve as the Rams' Week 1 kicker, but he was let go after he made only four of his seven field-goal attempts in three preseason games. Los Angeles dealt with some kicking problems throughout the year (third-lowest conversion rate on field-goal attempts in the NFL), and Brown will likely have the opportunity to compete for the Rams' top kicker spot once again next season.

  The Rams waived Brown on Tuesday. An undrafted rookie out of Oklahoma State, Brown went 2-for-4 on field-goal attempts during the preseason. The Rams will likely opt to sign a veteran in free agency, but Brown could be brought back on a practice-squad deal if he clears waivers.

• Rams' Tanner Brown: Nails lone field goal

  Brown connected on a 25-yard field-goal attempt and made both of his extra-point attempts during Saturday's 34-17 preseason loss to the Raiders. While a chip shot field goal and two PATs aren't exactly world-moving in terms of Brown's hold on the starting kicker position, he also didn't hurt his cause, and the Rams didn't opt to bring in any outside kickers to compete after the rookie missed a 46-yard attempt last week. With just three weeks until the Rams' opening game against the Seahawks, it seems increasingly likely that the Rams will roll with Brown as their starter in lieu of bringing anyone in to vie for the role.
