Cardinals' Matt Prater: Not likely to play Sunday

Prater (knee) is listed as questionable but is considered unlikely to play in Sunday's game at Green Bay, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The writing was on the wall for Prater to miss a second straight game when Arizona elevated kicker Chad Ryland from the practice squad Saturday. Though an official decision on Prater's status won't be made until Arizona posts its inactive list 90 minutes before the 1 p.m. ET kickoff, fantasy managers should already begin to start looking at other options at kicker for Week 6. Prater managed to log a trio of limited practices during the week, and if he sits out Sunday as expected, he'll aim to return to action for a Monday night matchup with the Chargers in Week 7.

  • Chad Ryland K | ARI

Cardinals' Chad Ryland: Elevated again for Week 6

The Cardinals elevated Ryland from their practice squad to their active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Packers.

Matt Prater (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday, so the addition of Ryland provides much-needed insurance in case Prater is unable to go. While Prater was sidelined last week versus San Francisco, Ryland stepped in at kicker and went 3-for-4 on field-goal tries, with his lone miss being a blocked 45-yard attempt. Ryland's elevation Saturday could be a sign that Prater will be held out again Sunday, though that may not be confirmed until Arizona releases its inactive list approximately 90 minutes prior to the 1 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • 49ers' Matthew Wright: Should be good for Week 7

Wright is expected to serve as the 49ers' placekicker on Sunday, Oct. 20 against the Chiefs after an MRI on his shoulder returned negative Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Wright got hurt while attempting to tackle Seahawks returner Dee Williams on a kickoff late in the fourth quarter of Thursday's 36-24 win. He was spotted getting examined by a member of the 49ers' staff afterward, but the nature of the injury wasn't known until coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media Friday, when he told Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com that Wright dislocated his shoulder. Wright likely will focus on rehab versus practice in advance of the Week 7 showdown with the Chiefs, but the 49ers seemingly aren't in the market for a third kicker in three games after Jake Moody suffered a high-ankle sprain Week 5.

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Questionable for Sunday

Prater (left knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest in Green Bay, Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com reports.

Prater is in a better spot this week as opposed to last week considering he was listed as limited on all three practice reports, which is two more than during Week 5 prep. Nonetheless, his status again will linger into the weekend, and the Cardinals may elevate Chad Ryland from the practice squad Saturday, which would be a sign that Prater could miss a second game in a row. At the latest, Prater's availability, or lack thereof, will receive clarification approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1:00 p.m ET kickoff.

  • 49ers' Matthew Wright: Hurts shoulder in SF debut

Wright dislocated his shoulder during Thursday's 36-24 win over the Seahawks and is awaiting an MRI on the injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Wright suffered the injury while making a tackle late in the game. Prior to that, he was effective filling in for Jake Moody (ankle), converting all three of his field-goal attempts and adding three successful PATs. If Wright is unable to recover before the 49ers host the Chiefs on Sunday, Oct. 20, San Francisco would have to turn to its third kicker in three games.

  • Jason Myers K | SEA

Seahawks' Jason Myers: Hits four short kicks

Myers connected on a 20-yard field-goal attempt and all three extra-point tries in Thursday's 36-24 loss to the 49ers.

Myers made every kick for the first time since Week 2, but he wasn't really challenged in this outing. The veteran kicker hasn't missed an extra point since the 2022 season, and he has hit five of eight field-goal tries from beyond 40 yards.

  • Chargers' Cameron Dicker: Returns to practice

Dicker (illness) logged a full practice session Thursday.

Dicker missed Wednesday's practice due to an illness, but he was able to return to a full session one day later. As such, it's likely that the kicker will be able to suit up Sunday versus Denver. Dicker has gone 7-for-8 on field-goal tries and 5-for-6 on extra-point attempts so far this season.

  • Matt Prater K | ARI

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Remains limited in practice

Prater (left knee) was limited at Thursday's practice, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Stretching back to last week, Prater has been listed as limited on three consecutive practice reports as he deals with a left knee injury. The issue sidelined him for this past Sunday's win at San Francisco, when practice-squad member Chad Ryland handled placekicking duties for the Cardinals. Prater has one more session this week to prove his health before Arizona potentially makes a ruling on his availability for Sunday's game in Green Bay. Ultimately, if the team elevates Ryland again Saturday, it could signal that Prater is in line for a second absence in a row.

  • Matt Prater K | ARI

Cardinals' Matt Prater: Logs limited practice Wednesday

Prater (knee) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Prater managed just one limited practice last week before he was inactive for this past Sunday's win at San Francisco. A left knee injury has been to blame, and head coach Jonathan Gannon implied Monday that the Cardinals are taking a wait-and-see approach with the veteran kicker, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com. As such, Arizona's last two sessions of Week 6 prep likely will determine if Prater or practice-squad member Chad Ryland will be the team's placekicker Sunday in Green Bay.

  • Chargers' Cameron Dicker: Dealing with illness

    Dicker (illness) didn't practice Wednesday.

Dicker will likely need to upgrade to at least limited participation either Thursday or Friday in order to suit up for Sunday's matchup against the Broncos. Don't be surprised if the Chargers to add a kicker to their practice squad just in case Dicker is unable to suit up in Week 6.
