  • Brett Maher K | LAR

Cowboys' Brett Maher: Posts goose egg in NFL debut

Maher failed to score a point in Sunday's loss to the Panthers, missing his only field-goal attempt from 47 yards.

The Cowboys were down 16-0 in the fourth quarter by the time they scored their first TD, necessitating a two-point conversion rather than an extra point. Maher's production figures to be limited in 2018 until the Dallas offense shows signs of life, making the former CFL player a very risky fantasy option even before you consider his potentially shaky job security.

  • Rams' Greg Zuerlein: Hits four field goals in Week 1

Zuerlein connected on four of five field-goal attempts and converted all three extra-point tries during Monday's 33-13 win over the Raiders.

Zuerlein was on pace for historic numbers before a herniated disc cut his 2017 campaign short, so it's encouraging to see him open 2018 with a big game. Additionally, his setup could be even better this year. The Los Angeles defense projects to tilt field position in the Rams' favor a lot, and head coach Sean McVay is willing to attempt long field goals. For what it's worth, the 46-yard attempt he missed Monday was off the infield dirt at the Oakland Coliseum.

  • Dolphins' Jason Sanders: Perfect in Week 1

Sanders converted both field-goal attempts and all three extra-point attempts in Sunday's victory over the Titans.

Both of Sanders' field-goal attempts were short (27 yards and 30 yards), but his Week 1 performance was nonetheless encouraging for the rookie seventh-rounder. Sanders appears to be a middle-of-the-road fantasy option against the Jets on Sunday.

  • Graham Gano K | NYG

Panthers' Graham Gano: Misses extra point in opener

Gano converted from 27 yards on his only field-goal attempt, but missed one of his two extra-point tries in Sunday's 16-8 win over the Cowboys.

Gano has missed three extra-point attempts in each of the last three seasons, so his misfire Sunday wasn't totally out of character. For someone that missed four kicks total last year, however, Gano will be disappointed by already leaving points out there in Week 1. Fortunately, his failed effort didn't come back to haunt Carolina. He'll aim to tidy things up and hope for more scoring opportunities this weekend versus the Falcons.

  • Browns' Zane Gonzalez: Misses crucial field goal

Gonzalez missed a game-winning field goal in overtime during Sunday's 21-21 tie with the Steelers. He also converted all three extra-point attempts.

With 13 seconds left in overtime, Gonzalez's potential game-winning field was blocked by T.J. Watt, forcing a tie. Though the rain was a factor, Gonzalez's kick was rather low, making it an easy target to block. It remains to be seen how long of a leash the Browns give Gonzalez after struggling mightily during his rookie season in 2017, but one would assume the team has faith in him after he beat out Ross Martin in camp.

  • Redskins' Dustin Hopkins: Perfect in Week 1

Hopkins converted his lone field-goal attempt and all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's victory over the Cardinals.

Hopkins made a 31-yard field goal, accounting for six total points in the season opener. The veteran should serve as a reliable fantasy option attached to a solid Washington offense.

  • Wil Lutz K | DEN

Saints' Wil Lutz: Perfect in opener

Lutz converted his only field goal -- a 36-yard kick -- and all three of his extra-point attempts in Sunday's loss to the Buccaneers.

The Saints offense posted five touchdowns but elected to attempt two-point conversions on the team's last two scores while attempting a furious comeback. The end result was a relatively meager output from Lutz despite New Orleans scoring 40 points. Still, Lutz remains a solid kicker option in most leagues so long as he backed by Drew Brees and one of the league's most prolific offenses.

  • Texans' Ka'imi Fairbairn: Makes two of two field goals

Fairbairn converted both field-goal attempts in Sunday's loss to the Patriots. He also converted both extra-point attempts.

Fairbairn made both field-goal attempts, a 42-yarder and a 36-yarder, despite being sidelined much of the preseason with a right leg injury. The second-year kicker will attempt to continue his perfect streak against the Titans on Sunday.

  • Vikings' Daniel Carlson: Perfect in pro debut

Carlson converted his only field-goal attempt -- from 48 yards -- and made both extra-point attempts in Sunday's win over the 49ers.

After missing two field goals in one preseason game, Carlson caused some frayed nerves among Minnesota coaches. He was perfect in his pro debut, but the 2018 fifth-round draft pick may not have a lot of job security should he slump.

  • Chargers' Caleb Sturgis: Misses final field-goal attempt

Sturgis made two of his three field-goal attempts and did not attempt any extra points in Sunday's 38-28 loss to the Chiefs.

Sturgis' missed field goal essentially sealed the Chargers fate as the 48-yard kick sailed wide left with the team trailing by 10 with just over one minute left to play. It was a little odd to see the veteran kicker not even attempt an extra point, particularly since the Chargers scored 28 points, but that was due in large part to game script as the team trailed by 19 points entering the fourth quarter.
