Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Connects with Hill at practice

Tagovailoa completed a couple of deep passes to Dolphins' newcomer Tyreek Hill during Thursday's minicamp session, ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques reports.

The QB's passes to Hill on Thursday went for 45 and 55 yards, and while we won't read too much into a pair of plays in mandatory minicamp, they did support the notion that Tagovailoa could progress as a downfield thrower in 2022. That's an area the signal-caller believes he can improve on in his third NFL campaign. With that in mind, Tagovailoa -- who indicated that he spent a majority of his offseason working on his foundation and improving his arm strength and mobility -- at this stage noted that he "definitely feel(s) a lot more confident being able to push the ball down the field." With a pair of top-flight wideouts to throw to (Hill and Jaylen Waddle), an improved offensive line in front of him, and a new coaching staff led by Mike McDaniel on board, Tagovailoa's team context at least does seem conducive to the 2020 first-rounder making strides this coming season.

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Expected to make offseason debut

Murray returned to the Cardinals' training facility Tuesday and is expected to be on the practice field for the first time during Arizona's voluntary OTAs, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Murray has yet to appear at any of Arizona's offseason workouts while he seeks a contract extension after a tough finish to last season. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury previously stated he expected the quarterback to return for mandatory minicamp, but Murray is seemingly showing his commitment to the organization by showing up for the voluntary workout.

  • Matt Corral QB | MIN

Panthers' Matt Corral: Away for personal reasons

Corral is absent from OTAs on Wednesday due to a family matter, Schuyler Callihan of SI.com reports.

Corral has reportedly put together a string of solid appearances at OTAs, and offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo praised his footwork Wednesday, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. McAdoo also mentioned that Corral will spend much of the offseason focusing on his ability to quickly process defenses and play calls. There's not yet any indication of how long the rookie third-round pick may be away from the team.

  • Jameis Winston QB | NYG

Saints' Jameis Winston: Going through drills with team

Winston (knee) participated in OTAs on Wednesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Winston appears to have taken part in drills alongside fellow quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Ian Book. His involvement in the workout is a good sign that Winston is on track for Week 1, which is in line with what Saints head coach Dennis Allen said a few weeks ago. Still, it's no easy thing coming back from an ACL tear, so Winston may have limitations on the practice field throughout spring and summer.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Adding muscle in offseason

Wilson has raised his weight from 208 pounds to 221 by working with a nutritionist and chef in the offseason, and the second-year quarterback believes the increased weight will help him from an athleticism standpoint, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

The 6-foot-2 Wilson is on the smaller side for a quarterback, so he's hoping that putting on weight will help him avoid injuries without hampering the decent running ability he showcased en route to scoring four touchdowns on the ground as a rookie. Between Wilson's dedication and New York's universally lauded draft class, the Jets have had an encouraging offseason, but that won't mean much until it leads to positive results on the field.

  • 49ers' Jimmy Garoppolo: Not with team for OTAs

Garoppolo (shoulder) wasn't spotted during the 49ers' OTAs on Tuesday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Garoppolo continues to rehab his shoulder after offseason surgery, so it isn't surprising to see him absent from OTAs. The quarterback has been adamant that he'll be ready for training camp, but health is only one of his concerns this offseason, as the 49ers appear ready to give 2021 first-round pick Trey Lance a chance to earn the starting gig. Head coach Kyle Shanahan also still expects Garoppolo to be traded this offseason, per Chris Biderman of The Sacramento Bee, although his shoulder surgery has complicated the team's efforts to move him.

  • Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT

Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Not with team for OTAs

Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Tuesday that Rodgers is currently not at voluntary OTAs, Ryan Wood of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports.

LaFleur added that he doesn't know if the quarterback will join the team next week or not and stated, "it'll be Rodgers' choice." While the reigning MVP isn't with the team, his current situation seems to be less volatile than the last two offseasons after he signed a four-year extension in March. LaFleur said he talked to the QB on Monday about tweaks to the offense and said Rodgers was in "good spirits," so it appears he is still heavily involved in the game plan even while he's away from the team.

  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | ATL

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Dealing with non-COVID illness

Tagovailoa was sent home during Tuesday's voluntary OTA practice due to a non-COVID illness, Adam H. Beasley of Pro Football Network reports.

It sounds like the quarterback tried to give it a go, but there's no reason to push him or risk spreading the illness around at this point in the offseason. New Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has made it clear that Tagovailoa will be his starter Week 1, though he could certainly face pressure from Teddy Bridgewater if he struggles out of the gate. Regardless, Miami's offseason is expected to look completely different this year with McDaniel at the helm and a litany of new offensive weapons at his disposal.

  • Rams' Matthew Stafford: Not throwing during OTAs

Stafford didn't throw during Los Angeles' voluntary OTAs on Monday due to the inflammatory injection he received in his elbow this offseason, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Stafford said in mid-April -- less than six weeks after the injection -- that his arm was feeling great, but he'll continue to play it safe during the offseason to avoid any potential setbacks. Coach Sean McVay said the quarterback likely won't throw at all during OTAs, but he expects him to ramp things up for the start of training camp in July, per Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News.

  • Kyler Murray QB | MIN

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Expected to be present for minicamp

Coach Kliff Kingsbury said Monday that he expects Murray to be present for mandatory minicamp, Tyler Dragon of USA Today reports.

Murray currently isn't present for Arizona's voluntary OTAs, which started Monday. The quarterback remains away from the team as he seeks a contract extension after a tough end to last season. Arizona picked up the fifth-year option on Murray's rookie contract in April, but he's made it clear he's dissatisfied with his current contract situation, with Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reporting the quarterback could be unwilling to suit up for Week 1 without a new deal. Fowler's report and Kingsbury's comments appear to contradict each other, so whether Murray is present or not at Arizona's mandatory minicamp, which starts in mid-June, may go a long way in determining what the Cardinals' quarterback situation may look like heading into the regular season.
