Tyrod Taylor QB | GB
Texans' Tyrod Taylor: Moved to IR
Taylor (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday.
Coach David Culley already ruled Taylor out two days in advance of Thursday's game against the Panthers after the quarterback strained his left hamstring in Sunday's loss to the Browns, but the 32-year-old signal-caller's move to IR means he'll be sidelined through at least Week 5. Rookie third-round pick Davis Mills is the next man up on the depth chart and he'll presumably start at least the Texans' next three games while the organization remains content to keep Deshaun Watson inactive.

Andy Dalton QB | PHI
Bears' Andy Dalton: Appears likely to sit Week 3
Dalton (knee) is considered week-to-week and appears unlikely to start Sunday's game against the Browns, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Though the Bears haven't officially ruled Dalton out for Week 3 and head coach Matt Nagy said Monday that the veteran would remain the team's top quarterback when healthy, rookie first-round pick Justin Fields looks to be trending toward the starting nod Sunday. An MRI has cleared Dalton of any structural damage to the left knee he injured in a Week 2 win over the Bengals, but he's still tending to a painful bone bruise that could make a full recovery on a seven-day turnaround difficult. Given that Dalton joined the Bears on a one-year deal this offseason with the plan of having him serve as a bridge to Fields, it's possible that Dalton loses hold of the starting job for good if the youngster acquits himself well against a tough Cleveland squad.

Justin Fields QB | KC
Bears' Justin Fields: Trending toward Week 3 start
Fields appears in line to make his first NFL start Sunday in Cleveland with No. 1 quarterback Andy Dalton considered week-to-week with a knee injury, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
The rookie first-round pick came on in relief of an injured Dalton in the Bears' 20-17 win over the Bengals this past weekend, taking 41 snaps in total and completing six of 13 pass attempts for 60 yards and an interception while rushing 10 times for 31 yards and fumbling once. Though he didn't have an especially productive showing in extended action after he scored on a run in a season-opening loss to the Rams, Fields could quickly emerge as a viable fantasy option thanks to his game-breaking rushing ability. For what it's worth, head coach Matt Nagy said Monday that Dalton -- when healthy -- remains the Bears' starting quarterback, but that could change if Fields delivers an impressive performance in place of the veteran.

Jeff Driskel QB | WAS
Jeff Driskel: Likely to be promoted
Driskel is expected to be promoted to the Texans' active roster Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's contest against the Panthers. In his absence, rookie third-round pick Davis Mills is expected to draw his first career start. Driskel, who has nine career starts, is expected to be promoted to serve as the backup behind Mills in Week 3.

Tyrod Taylor QB | GB
Texans' Tyrod Taylor: Officially out for Week 3
Taylor (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against Carolina, Deepi Sidhu of the Texans' official site reports.
The announcement from coach David Culley comes as little surprise after Taylor sustained what's believed to be a Grade 2 left hamstring strain in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Browns, per Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston. The injury typically carries a four-week recovery timeline, so Taylor could be a candidate to move to injured reserve, which would entail an absence of at least three weeks. Third-round selection Davis Mills will step in at quarterback for his first NFL start Thursday, while the Texans plan to elevate Jeff Driskel from the practice squad to serve as the rookie's understudy.

Davis Mills QB | HOU
Texans' Davis Mills: Confirmed as Week 3 starter
Mills will start at quarterback Thursday against the Panthers, Brooks Kubena of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Tyrod Taylor is on track to sit out Thursday and likely additional contests after going down with a hamstring injury in Sunday's loss to the Browns. That leaves Mills, a rookie third-round pick, in line for a multi-game run atop the depth chart. Mills' initial work in relief of Taylor wasn't promising; he completed eight of 18 attempts for 102 yards, one touchdown and one interception while fumbling once on 33 snaps against Cleveland. For as long as the Texans can keep things close with the heavily favored Panthers, look for them to favor a run-heavy game plan, but a negative game script could lead to some high passing volume for Mills. Houston is expected to elevate Jeff Driskel from the practice squad to back up Mills, as coach David Culley has already indicated that Deshaun Watson won't be active Week 3 in spite of Taylor's absence.

Jared Goff QB | DET
Lions' Jared Goff: Tale of two halves
Goff completed 26 of 36 passes for 246 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Monday night's 35-17 loss to the Packers. He also rushed four times for 46 yards but lost a fumble.
Goff took advantage of a vanilla Packers defense in the first half, completing his first eight passes and throwing a couple of touchdowns, including a perfectly placed ball to T.J. Hockenson in the back of the end zone. The signal-caller's play had Detroit leading at the half, but amid pouring rain Goff fumbled a snap deep in his own territory during the third quarter and threw an interception while playing catch-up later on. He tacked on some production with a team-leading output in the running game -- mostly thanks to an uncharacteristic 26-yard scamper in the fourth quarter -- but Goff will aim to be more consistent in Week 3, although a matchup against the Ravens could make matters difficult.

Aaron Rodgers QB | PIT
Packers' Aaron Rodgers: Rebounds with four-touchdown victory
Rodgers completed 22 of 27 passes for 255 yards and four touchdowns in Monday night's 35-17 win over the Lions.
Rodgers bounced back from a poor Week 1 performance to throw nearly as many touchdowns as incompletions. The reigning MVP's volume was limited in the first half as Aaron Jones was established as Green Bay's centerpiece, yet Rodgers still found his tailback with a couple short scores early on. Rodgers then dazzled with a pair of throws to begin the third quarter, dropping a beautiful, 50-yard dime to Davante Adams before delivering a 22-yard strike down the seam for a Robert Tonyan touchdown. With another red-zone scoring pass to Jones later, Rodgers capped a highly efficient night, sending him into the Week 3 matchup against the 49ers on a positive note.

Davis Mills QB | HOU
Texans' Davis Mills: On track to fill in for Taylor
With Tyrod Taylor (hamstring) expected to miss time, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Mills is in line to start Thursday night's game against the Panthers.
Though Taylor's looming absence has not yet been officially confirmed by the Texans, the veteran QB isn't expected to play Thursday, at a minimum, and an IR stint could be in the cards for him. As a result, with Deshaun Watson not being considered as an option to replace Taylor, Mills is in line to start versus Carolina, while Jeff Driskel is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad to Houston's active roster to serve as the team's backup signal-caller Week 3.

Tyrod Taylor QB | GB
Texans' Tyrod Taylor: Expected to miss time
Taylor is expected to be out "for a while" due to the hamstring injury he suffered Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Though not yet officially confirmed by the Texans, the QB isn't expected to play Thursday night against the Panthers, and an IR stint could be in the cards for Taylor. With Deshaun Watson not an option to replace him, Davis Mills is in line to start in place of Taylor this week, at a minimum, while Jeff Driskel is a candidate to be elevated from the practice squad to Houston's active roster.
