  • Mason Rudolph QB | PIT

Steelers' Mason Rudolph: Takes over for injured Big Ben

Rudolph started the second half of Sunday's 28-26 loss to the Seahawks after Ben Roethlisberger exited with an elbow injury. He completed 12 of 19 passes for 112 yards, two touchdowns and an interception while adding a seven-yard rush.

Rudolph's second pass was intercepted after bouncing off the hands of receiver Donte Moncrief, but he bounced back nicely on the next possession, setting up a field goal with a 45-yard deep ball to JuJu Smith-Schuster via flea flicker. The 2018 third-rounder capped the next drive with an eight-yard touchdown to Vance McDonald to pull within two points, but his attempt at a game-tying two-point conversion was intercepted. He later added a three-yard touchdown to McDonald as Pittsburgh's comeback attempt came up just short. Rudolph showed he's capable of running the offense effectively should Roethlisberger need to miss further time, but we're still awaiting an update on Big Ben's non-contact injury.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Seahawks' Russell Wilson: Extremely efficient in close win

Wilson completed 29 of 35 passes for 300 yards and three touchdowns in Sunday's 28-26 win over the Steelers. He also ran six times for 22 yards.

The Seahawks unleashed Wilson after giving him just 20 passing attempts in Week 1, and he reminded us of his supreme efficiency with 8.6 YPA and an 80.5 completion percentage. Although he started slow, Wilson tossed a touchdown to TE Will Dissly late in the first half, and he came out in the second half hot with touchdown passes to Dissly and rookie WR DK Metcalf. Wilson's still a flaky fantasy play because coach Pete Carroll is comfortable running the ball until it's completely necessary to pass. Still, Wilson flashed his upside and should be called upon again to use his arm in a Week 3 matchup versus the Saints.

  • Lions' Matthew Stafford: Leads fourth-quarter comeback

Stafford completed 22 of 30 passes for 245 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions during Sunday's 13-10 victory over the Chargers. He added 13 rushing yards on four carries.

While this game wouldn't have been so close had Matt Prater not missed a field goal and PAT, Stafford made enough solid passes to overcome both the kicking woes as well as a pair of untimely interceptions. His best throw arguably came on a 31-yard dart to Kenny Golladay for the go-ahead touchdown halfway through the fourth quarter. The 31-year-old has now thrown multiple touchdowns in two games to start the year and there's a solid chance he keeps that streak alive in Week 3 against a vulnerable Eagles secondary.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: Could play as soon as Week 5

Darnold (illness) remains quarantined while battling mononucleosis, but the Jets haven't ruled him out from returning as soon as Week 5 against the Eagles, Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports.

According to Mortensen, Darnold is "already feeling better" since word of his illness first surfaced Wednesday, and the quarterback will undergo more scans on his spleen over the next three weeks as the Jets look to ensure he's trending in the right direction on the health front. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported earlier Sunday that the Jets are eyeing a 3-to-7-week recovery for Darnold, with Mortensen's nugget offering some optimism that the signal-caller will push toward the short end of that timeline. If Darnold is in fact back by Week 5, he would only miss two games in total, as the Jets are on bye Week 4.

  • Easton Stick QB | IND

Chargers' Easton Stick: Confirmed third string

Stick (coach's decision) is officially inactive for Sunday's game against Detroit.

Stick was facing an uphill battle out of training camp, listed third on the depth chart behind Philip Rivers and Tyrod Taylor, and this news confirms that notion. The North Dakota State product's next chance to get the call will be when the Chargers take on the Texans next week.

  • Colt McCoy QB | ARI

Redskins' Colt McCoy: Puts in pregame workout

McCoy (lower leg) went through a pregame workout Sunday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

The primary hangup with McCoy's recovery has been difficulty push off his right leg, which he tested out Sunday with a number of throws. He remains without a timetable to return, but activity in any Week 3 practices would be the a sign that he's getting close. In the meantime, Case Keenum will direct the Redskins offense while rookie Dwayne Haskins serves as the backup QB.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: Will be out 3-to-7 weeks

Darnold's recovery from mononucleosis will last anywhere from 3-to-7 weeks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Bouts with mono must be taken case by case, so Rapoport's comments more or less are in line with such an illness. As the face of the Jets franchise, Darnold won't be put in harm's way until he's deemed able to take contact due the potential for his spleen to rupture. While he recovers, the offense will be directed by Trevor Siemian.

  • Nate Sudfeld QB | SF

Eagles' Nate Sudfeld: Unlikely to suit up Sunday

Sudfeld (wrist) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game versus the Falcons, Daniel Gallen of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.

Sudfeld was able to practice in a limited capacity Friday, but he's still expected to miss a couple more weeks with this wrist issue. Expect Josh McCown to back up Carson Wentz on Sunday.

  • Colt McCoy QB | ARI

Redskins' Colt McCoy: Will miss Sunday

McCoy (lower leg) won't play in Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys, Craig Hoffman of 106-7 The Fan Washington reports.

McCoy missed the season opener with this injury as well. It remains unclear when the 32-year-old will return to action or even practice, as he was unable to participate in practice Wednesday and Thursday. It seems rookie Dwayne Haskins will serve as Case Keenum's backup Sunday with McCoy sidelined.

  • Sam Darnold QB | SEA

Jets' Sam Darnold: IR not being considered

Coach Adam Gase said Friday morning that Darnold (illness) is not a candidate for injured reserve, Connor Hughes of The Athletic reports.

It's still not clear exactly how long Darnold will be out, but keeping him off IR signals that the Jets expect him to miss fewer than eight weeks. Fantasy players and Jets fans are no doubt hoping he will be back well before that, but with a Week 4 bye on the horizon, it seems likely he won't be back on the field again until Week 5 at the earliest.
