  • Bryce Petty QB | MIA

Jets' Bryce Petty: Full practice Wednesday

Petty (knee) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.

No longer bothered by a minor knee strain, Petty is entering the 2017 season as the No. 2 QB on the depth chart behind Josh McCown.

  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

Broncos' Trevor Siemian: Drawing rave reviews from Von Miller

Broncos linebacker Von Miller said Wednesday that Siemian has reminded him of former quarterback Peyton Manning in terms of his energy in the locker room and on the field, Michael David Smith of NBC Sports reports.

Miller said that even after Siemian turned in a respectable debut season as a starter in 2016, the quarterback looks "10 times better" heading into 2017. Siemian's preseason performance didn't necessarily back up Miller's assessment, as his 6.1 yards per attempt in his two appearances were a full six points below his mark from the 2016 campaign. It's tough to make many sweeping conclusions based off two games though, so if Siemian can prove that he can pair his accuracy with more big plays during the regular season, he could gain some security in his starting role.

  • Jameis Winston QB | NYG

Buccaneers' Jameis Winston: Week 1 contest postponed

The NFL announced Wednesday that Sunday's scheduled game in Miami between Winston's Buccaneers and the Dolphins has been postponed until Nov. 19 due to the potential impact of Hurricane Irma in South Florida.

Week 11 had previously been an open date for both teams, so the Buccaneers and Dolphins will reconvene in November to make up the contest. Winston and his teammates are thus set to make their regular-season debuts at home Sept. 17 against the Bears.

  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Ready for Week 1

Coach Sean McDermott affirmed Wednesday that Taylor has been cleared from the league's concussion protocol and will start Week 1 against the Jets.

Taylor is expected to put in a full week of practice as the Bills prepare for the start of the regular season. While Buffalo's offense should have its ups and downs given the many new faces, Week 1 presents a solid matchup for the quarterback. Taylor will likely pile up some rushing yards, and if he can put together some plays with his new-look receiving corps against a Jets squad in rebuilding mode, he may make for a sneaky value play in DFS contests.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

Rams' Brandon Allen: Claimed by Rams

Allen was claimed off of waivers by the Rams on Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL.com reports.

Allen spent training camp with the Jaguars but was let go when they opted to carry only two quarterbacks on their 53-man roster. This move is interesting for the Rams, who don't seem very confident in their current quarterback situation. Sean Mannion seemingly is firmly planted as the backup behind Jared Goff, but Allen will look to learn the offense in case injuries require him to take the field.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

Phillip Walker: Joins Colts' practice squad

Walker signed with the Colts' practice squad, Jason Spells of NBC WTHR reports.

Walker was an undrafted rookie who became a long shot to join the Colts' final roster after they traded for Jacob Brissett to serve as their third quarterback. Walker will stick around the organization to essentially serve as the No. 4 option.

  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Week 1 status promising

A source has told Field Yates of ESPN that Taylor passed the NFL's concussion protocol Tuesday and will start Week 1 against the Jets.

Taylor was injured in the third preseason game, and his status had been in doubt since that hit. However, he never had a setback, and it looks like he'll now be ready to direct the offense, one that has a completely different look than the one he led last season.

  • Jets' Christian Hackenberg: Listed as No. 3 quarterback

Hackenberg is listed as the Jets' No. 3 quarterback on their official depth chart released Tuesday, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

While it wasn't surprising that veteran Josh McCown captured the starting role during training camp over the unproven Hackenberg, the second-year signal caller's placement on the depth chart behind Bryce Petty, who missed the preseason finale with a sprained knee, is more unexpected. Petty has indicated that he expects to be ready for the Week 1 matchup with the Bills, but his shaky health may prompt coach Todd Bowles to keep all three of the team's quarterbacks active for that contest. Since the 38-year-old McCown likely isn't the Jets' long-term answer at quarterback, there is a strong possibility that Bowles kicks the tires with the backup options at some point this season, but at this time, it appears a healthy Petty would receive a chance to replace McCown before Hackenberg does.

  • Bryce Petty QB | MIA

Jets' Bryce Petty: Listed second on depth chart

Petty (knee) is listed as the Jets' No. 2 quarterback on their depth chart heading into Sunday's season opener against the Bills, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.

Despite missing the preseason finale with a Grade 1 MCL sprain, Petty apparently did enough in training camp to edge ahead of Christian Hackenberg in the backup quarterback competition, but it may be a moot point if the knee injury ends up sidelining Petty for Week 1. However, with Petty unlikely to miss significant time, he'll bide his time for an opportunity to run the Jets' offense at some point this season, which is a distinct possibility given that 38-year-old starter Josh McCown is viewed as a stopgap solution at quarterback.

  • Jeff Driskel QB | WAS

Bengals' Jeff Driskel: Placed on injured reserve

The Bengals placed Driskel (thumb) on injured reserve Monday, Katherine Terrell of ESPN reports.

While it was reported that his thumb injury will not require surgery, it is still serious enough to land him on the IR. He remains a candidate to be designated for return, but the team is only likely to consider that option if starting quarterback Andy Dalton is forced to miss any time due to injury.
