  • Sefo Liufau QB | TB

Buccaneers' Sefo Liufau: Reverts to injured reserve

After being waived/injured Saturday, Liufau (knee) reverted to the Buccaneers' injured reserve Sunday per the official NFL transaction log.

As expected, Liufau cleared waivers and landed on the team's IR. He was never a serious candidate to land on the final roster. The quarterback will now spend the entire 2017 season on injured reserve unless both parties can come to terms on an injury settlement.

  • Vikings' Taylor Heinicke: Reverts to IR

Heinicke (concussion) reverted to injured reserve Sunday, Chris Tomasson of TwinCities.com reports.

Even without the concussion, it's unlikely the Vikings would have taken four quarterbacks with them into the regular season. Heinicke had a strong preseason and will certainly have the chance to earn a roster spot again next season following his IR stint.

  • Connor Shaw QB | CHI

Bears' Connor Shaw: Reverts to IR

Shaw (hamstring) was placed on IR, Adam Jahns of The Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Shaw's placement on IR indicates that he probably won't suit up for the Bears during the regular season, given that he's injured and there are three quarterbacks ahead of him. He'll have a chance to make the active roster next season, but it looks like his 2017 season is over.

  • Tyrod Taylor QB | GB

Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Participating in individual drills

Taylor (concussion) is taking part in individual drills at Monday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of 7 ABC Buffalo reports.

Taylor apparently has made significant progress in the NFL's concussion protocol since suffering the injury Aug. 26 in the team's third preseason game. He has six days to clear the protocol ahead of Sunday's opener against the Jets, with Nathan Peterman slated to get the nod under center if Taylor isn't ready.

Bills' Tyrod Taylor: Seems to be progressing

Bills coach Sean McDermott said Monday that he believes Taylor (concussion) is getting better, Joe Buscaglia of 7 ABC Buffalo reports.

Taylor suffered the injury Aug. 26 in the Bills' third preseason game and has been in the concussion protocol ever since. He'll likely be listed when the Bills release their first injury report of the season Wednesday, but there's still time for him to pass through the protocol before Sunday's opener against the Jets. If Taylor isn't available, rookie fifth-round pick Nathan Peterman will get the start.

  • Stephen Morris QB | SEA

    Stephen Morris: Waived by Colts

Morris was waived Sunday by the Colts, Scott Horner of the Indianapolis Star reports.

Morris was expected to stick around through the start of the regular season with Andrew Luck dealing with a shoulder injury and expected to miss Week 1, but with the Colts trading the Patriots for Jacoby Brissett this weekend, the team felt secure with their quarterback depth and could let Morris go.

  • Nate Sudfeld QB | SF

Nate Sudfeld: Joins Eagles' practice squad

Sudfeld agreed to join the Eagles' practice squad Sunday, CSN Philly reports.

Sudfeld was waived by the Redskins on Saturday as part of the team's final roster cuts. With Philadelphia currently having only Nick Foles on their roster to back up starter Carson Wentz, Sudfeld could potentially be promoted for depth purposes in case of injury to either quarterback.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

Jaguars' Brandon Allen: Waived by Jacksonville

Allen was waived by the Jaguars on Sunday, Mark Long of The Associated Press reports.

Allen was beat out for the backup gig by Chad Henne. There are still several teams with a need for a serviceable backup, so Allen could draw interest from a handful of other organizations.

  • Sefo Liufau QB | TB

Sefo Liufau: Waived/injured by Tampa Bay

Liufau (knee) was waived/injured by the Buccaneers on Saturday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

The decision hardly comes as a surprise considering who was ahead of him. It's unlikely the team was going to take more than three quarterbacks into the the regular season, and with Jameis Winston and Ryan Fitzpatrick cementing roster spots, it came down to a battle with veteran Ryan Griffin, which Griffin won. For now, it looks like Liufau's fantasy value is close to the floor.

  • Connor Shaw QB | CHI

Connor Shaw: Heads to waivers with injury tag

Shaw (hamstring) was waived/injured by the Bears on Saturday.

With the expensive Mike Glennon and the 2017 second-overall pick, Mitchell Trubisky, already locked into the depth chart, it's no surprise that Shaw was the odd man out. Shaw hasn't played a regular season snap since 2014, so expect him to end up on a practice squad.
