  • Geno Smith QB | LV

Raiders' Geno Smith: Massive yardage total in team debut

Smith completed 24 of 34 passes for 362 yards with a touchdown and an interception while adding two rushes for 10 yards in the Raiders' 20-13 win over the Patriots on Sunday.

The veteran signal-caller looked right at home in a Raiders uniform from the opening possession, which he capped off with perfect 26-yard scoring strike to Tre Tucker. While that would be Smith's only touchdown toss of the game, he would pile up a fantasy-friendly yardage total by connecting with seven different pass catchers, including a trio of rookies in Dont'e Thornton, Jack Bech and Ashton Jeanty. Smith also displayed excellent chemistry with star tight end Brock Bowers, but the latter notably exited the game in the second half with a knee injury. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports Bowers downplayed the injury after the contest and stated he wanted to return to the game, so Smith appears to have a good chance of having access to his top target for a Week 2 AFC West home showdown against the Chargers on Monday night, Sept. 15.

  • Russell Wilson QB | NYG

Giants' Russell Wilson: Struggles in Giants debut

Wilson completed 17 of 37 passes for 168 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 21-6 loss to the Commanders. He also rushed eight times for 44 yards.

Wilson had just 58 yards on 15 first-half pass attempts, and he wasn't significantly more efficient after halftime, finishing the game with just 4.5 yards per pass attempt while the Giants failed to score a touchdown. He didn't get much help from the running game behind a poor offensive line, as Wilson led the team in rushing yards while Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary and Cam Skattebo combined to rush for only 30 yards on 15 carries. If Wilson doesn't improve Week 2 against the Cowboys, it may not be long until the Giants turn to rookie first-round pick Jaxson Dart over the declining veteran.

  • Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield: Three TDs in inefficient showing

Mayfield completed 17 of 32 passes for 167 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions while adding five rushes for 39 yards in the Buccaneers' 23-20 win over the Falcons on Sunday.

Mayfield was considerably less efficient than usual while facing a feisty Falcons defense in a rowdy dome environment, but after some early struggles, the veteran signal-caller was able to awaken the Buccaneers offense with a 30-yard scoring strike to rookie Emeka Egbuka. Mayfield would subsequently connect with Bucky Irving from nine yards out in the third quarter, and he capped off what turned out to be a rewarding fantasy day with a critical 25-yard touchdown toss to Egbuka with just under one minute remaining to erase a 20-17 deficit. Mayfield also finished as Tampa Bay's leading rusher, and his quick chemistry with Egbuka bodes well heading into a tough Week 2 road matchup against the Texans on Monday night, Sept. 15.

  • Kyler Murray QB | ARI

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Tosses two TDs in opener

Murray completed 21 of 29 passes for 163 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-13 win over the Saints. He added 38 rushing yards on seven carries.

The 28-year-old QB did get sacked five times, but it was otherwise a very sharp performance from Murray in the season opener. Both touchdown passes came in the red zone in the second quarter, as he found Marvin Harrison for a one-yard score before chucking a shovel pass to James Conner for a four-yard TD. Murray threw multiple TD passes only four times in 17 regular-season games in 2024, so this was a very encouraging start to 2025 for the Cardinals' passing game. He figures to be productive again at home Week 2 against the Panthers.

  • Joe Burrow QB | CIN

Bengals' Joe Burrow: Only 113 yards against Browns

Burrow completed 14 of 23 passes for 113 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions and rushed twice for three yards in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Browns.

Burrow and the Bengals had the ball for only 24:11 and ran just 49 offensive plays. On top of the limited volume, Burrow managed only 5.0 yards per attempt, with his longest completion going for just 20 yards. He did manage to throw a one-yard touchdown to Noah Fant in an otherwise disappointing performance. Burrow should be in for a resurgent showing in Week 2 against Jacksonville.

  • Justin Fields QB | NYJ

Jets' Justin Fields: Three total TDs not enough Week 1

Fields completed 16 of 22 passes for 218 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Steelers. He also rushed 12 times for 48 yards and two touchdowns.

Fields connected with Garrett Wilson for a 33-yard touchdown in the first quarter, then gave the Jets a nine-point lead with a two-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter, one play after a 21-yard completion to Wilson got them in scoring range. Fields ran in another touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line to restore New York's lead at 32-31 with 7:01 to play, but the Steelers responded with a field goal and Fields couldn't get the Jets back into scoring range on the final drive. The Jets' new quarterback will look to build on this strong debut in Week 2 against the Bills.

  • Jayden Daniels QB | WAS

Commanders' Jayden Daniels: Passing TD, 68 rush yards Week 1

Daniels completed 19 of 30 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown while rushing 11 times for 68 yards in Sunday's 21-6 win over the Giants.

Daniels gave the Commanders a 7-0 lead with a seven-yard touchdown pass to Zach Ertz in the first quarter, and Washington took a 14-3 lead into the locker room, but it could have been larger if not for an intentional grounding penalty on Daniels from the Giants' four-yard line that resulted in a half-ending 10-second runoff. Washington's defense continued to stifle the Giants in the second half, so Daniels wasn't asked to do too much, though he still topped the 60-yard rushing mark for the seventh time in 18 regular-season NFL starts. Daniels' ability to contribute with both his arm and legs makes the second-year pro an elite fantasy option heading into Thursday's Week 2 trip to Green Bay.

  • Tua Tagovailoa QB | MIA

Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: Forgettable performance in loss

Tagovailoa completed 14 of 23 passes for 114 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions while adding one rush for seven yards in the Dolphins' 33-8 loss to the Colts on Sunday. He also lost a fumble and threw a two-point conversion pass.

In a harbinger of the type of game it would be for the Dolphins offense and Tagovailoa in particular, the 2020 first-round pick sailed a pass intended for Tyreek Hill very high on the opening drive, leading to an interception by Camryn Bynum. The veteran signal-caller then handed the ball to the Colts again on the next possession, losing a fumble recovered by former teammate Xavien Howard. Tagovailoa would go on to short-circuit another possession with a third-quarter interception in Indianapolis territory, and only his 11-yard touchdown pass to De'Von Achane and subsequent two-point conversion pass to Julian Hill in the fourth quarter gave the signal-caller's fantasy day any semblance of respectability. Tagovailoa's first opportunity for atonement comes in a Week 2 home matchup next Sunday against a Patriots defense that allowed 362 yards to the Raiders' Geno Smith in Week 1 while playing without Christian Gonzalez (hamstring).

  • Rams' Stetson Bennett: Inactive Week 1

Bennett (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Texans, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

The Rams didn't indicate that Bennett will serve as an emergency quarterback. That means he'll observe Sunday's game in street clothes while Jimmy Garoppolo serves as the Rams' backup quarterback behind Matthew Stafford.

  • Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN

Broncos' Sam Ehlinger: Working as emergency QB in Week 1

Ehlinger (coach's decision) is inactive and serving as Denver's emergency third quarterback Sunday versus Tennessee.

Ehlinger is behind both Bo Nix and Jarrett Stidham on the Broncos' QB depth chart, so he may be the team's emergency QB often this season. He can enter Sunday's game only if both Nix and Stidham are forced to exit due to an injury, illness or ejection.
