Stephen Morris QB | SEA
Colts' Stephen Morris: Impressive showing Saturday boosts backup chances
Morris completed 7 of 11 passes for a team-leading 144 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason contest versus the Eagles. He added a one-yard score on his only carry of the game.
Locked in a battle with Scott Tolzien for the backup job behind Andrew Luck, Morris was excellent Saturday, earning a quarterback rating of 137.5 and leading the team's only two touchdown drives of he night. Tolzien did not enjoy much success of his own, as he threw for just 55 yards and an interception during his time on the field. The competition will likely go down to the wire, and with Luck expected to sit Thursday's preseason finale versus the Bengals, Morris and Tolzien should have one last chance to make their respective cases.

Jameis Winston QB | NYG
Buccaneers' Jameis Winston: Turns in stellar performance in Friday victory
Winston completed 16 of 25 passes for 259 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in Friday's 30-13 preseason victory over the Browns. He also gained nine yards on two carries and fumbled twice, recovering one.
The sophomore quarterback put together as impressive a performance as could have been hoped for, leading the Bucs to scores on their first four offensive possesions and connecting with No. 1 receiver Mike Evans on several occasions. Those plays included a second quarter drive where he hit the towering wideout for 47 yards down the right sideline, as well as a 34-yard hookup for a touchdown just two plays later. Winston was clearly in command of the offense throughout his time on the field, which encompassed the entirety of the first half. He did have some trouble holding on to the ball with two fumbles, but encouragingly stayed away from any interceptions. The 2015 No. 1 overall pick appears primed for a fast start in 2016 given his overall body of work in training camp and preseason to date, and his rapport with Evans also seems to be at an all-time high. Winston may not see any time in next week's exhibition finale in an attempt to keep him 100 percent for the regular season opener against the Falcons on Sept. 11.

Sam Bradford QB | MIN
Eagles' Sam Bradford: Efficient Saturday in win over Colts
Bradford completed 17 of 20 pass attempts for 167 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in Saturday's 33-23 preseason win over the Colts.
Bradford got off to a rough start Saturday, taking a sack and throwing an interception in his own territory on his first drive, but he rebounded and efficiently led a pair of touchdown drives before exiting the contest in the third quarter. He notably threw a touchdown pass to new acquisition Dorial Green-Beckham, which could be a harbinger of good things to come, should the two begin to build a rapport. Bradford is unlikely to play in next week's preseason finale and should see his next action when Week 1 of the regular season arrives.

Paxton Lynch QB | PIT
Broncos' Paxton Lynch: Will play ahead of Sanchez
Lynch will be the second quarterback to enter Saturday's preseason game against the Rams, NFL Network's James Palmer reports.
Trevor Siemian will start for a second straight week, but Lynch may get some playing time with the first-team offense. Meanwhile, Mark Sanchez will work with the second and third units after halftime, though all three quarterbacks are expected to get approximately the same amount of playing time. This probably isn't a good sign for Sanchez, who seems to have fallen behind Siemian in the race for the Week 1 starting job.

Brian Hoyer QB | LV
Bears' Brian Hoyer: Dealing with sore ribs
Hoyer is dealing with sore ribs after taking a hard hit in Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs, NFL Network's Stacey Dales reports.
Hoyer actually returned to the game for Chicago's final six offensive snaps, after No. 3 quarterback Connor Shaw suffered a broken leg. X-rays on Hoyer's ribs come back negative, suggesting he should be fine to serve as Jay Cutler's top backup Week 1 against the Texans. With Cutler unlikely to play in the final preseason game, David Fales could get an extended look under center, after failing to get a snap in the past two exhibitions.
-
Connor Shaw QB | CHI
Bears' Connor Shaw: Breaks leg Saturday
Shaw sustained a broken leg during Saturday's preseason game against the Chiefs, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
In the fourth quarter of Saturday's contest, Shaw suffered the fracture just above his ankle. He'll undergo surgery immediately, after which a recovery timetable will be plotted. If no ligament was damaged on the play, there's a chance that he'll be able to return this season. With placement on IR on the horizon, Shaw will yield to Brian Hoyer and David Fales in the pecking order behind starting quarterback Jay Cutler.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott lined up for Week 1 start
Dak Prescott will be the Week 1 starter, as the Dallas Cowboys are merely searching for a veteran backup in Tony Romo's absence, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports.
While initially hesitant to rule Romo (back) out for Week 1, the Cowboys now seem to be on board with the 6-to-10 week timeline that accompanies a compression fracture of the L1 vertebrae. Kellen Moore (broken ankle) is expected to be out for even longer than Romo, leaving Prescott and 2015 undrafted free agent Jameill Showers as the only healthy quarterbacks on the roster.
The Cowboys will sign a veteran to replace Showers as the No. 2 quarterback, but it will be Prescott's show to run Week 1 against the New York Giants.
Prescott, a fourth-round draft pick this spring, has exceeded the most optimistic of expectations in preseason, completing 39 of 50 passes for 454 yards and five touchdowns. He has also run for two touchdowns and has no fumbles or interceptions.
Though he won't be able to match Romo's accuracy as a passer, Prescott does have the benefit of playing with Dez Bryant, Ezekiel Elliott and a tremendous offensive line.

Dak Prescott QB | DAL
Cowboys' Dak Prescott: Could get Week 1 start
Prescott could start Week 1 against the Giants, following the announcement that Tony Romo has a broken bone in his back, The Ft. Worth Star-Telegram's Clarence Hill reports.
While initial reports suggest Romo's injury will need 6-to-10 weeks to heal, the quarterback actually played with two broken bones in his back for much of the 2014 season. If the Cowboys decide to wait out the injury, Prescott could step in as the short-term starter, with veteran Kellen Moore (broken ankle) already expected to miss most of the season. Undrafted free agent Jameill Showers (2015) is the team's only other healthy quarterback, and Cowboys brass has heaped praise upon Prescott all preseason. While the team will presumably sign a veteran quarterback, it shouldn't be assumed that the new addition will get the starting nod over the fourth-round rookie. Prescott has been fantastic in three preseason games, throwing for five touchdowns and rushing for another two.

Colt McCoy QB | ARI
Redskins' Colt McCoy: Quiet night in Friday's win
McCoy completed seven of 10 passes for 59 yards in Friday's win over the Bills.
It was a quiet night for the No. 2 quarterback as he managed the second half of Friday's win. McCoy has had a decent preseason, assuring Washington the team is in good hands if anything happens to starter Kirk Cousins. McCoy's big day will come next week against the Buccaneers as he will likely start under center after head coach Jay Gruden confirmed all starters will rest.
-
Kirk Cousins QB | LV
Redskins' Kirk Cousins: Throws three touchdowns in win
Cousins completed 12 of 23 passes for 188 yards while adding three touchdowns and one interception in Friday's preseason win over the Bills.
It was Cousins' final appearance in the preseason as head coach Jay Gruden has already confirmed that the starters will not play next week against the Buccaneers. While the final stat line looks promising, it was easy to tell Cousins is still working on shaking off some preseason rust, as he underthrew several receivers and almost had another interception if it weren't for a penalty on the play. The second-year starter can put all that behind him now and focus on getting ready for a Week 1 prime time matchup with the Steelers.
