  • Trevor Siemian QB | ATL

Broncos' Trevor Siemian: Fails to impress in start

Siemian completed 10 of 14 passes for 75 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception in Saturday's preseason game against the 49ers.

Siemian came out strong on Denver's opening drive, completing five of six passes for 55 yards to set up a 19-yard touchdown run by C.J. Anderson. It was all downhill from that point forward, with a hideous pick-six serving as the final nail in the coffin. Siemian somehow didn't lose any ground, as Mark Sanchez lost a pair of fumbles and produced just three points on four drives. Head coach Gary Kubiak hasn't announced a starter for the all-important third preseason game.

  • 49ers' Blaine Gabbert: Turns in acceptable outing against Denver

Gabbert completed six of nine passes for 69 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Broncos.

With Colin Kaepernick (shoulder) still unavailable, Gabbert played the first three series of Saturday's game, producing seven points before handing the ball over to Jeff Driskel. While Kaepernick seems to be making progress and could be available for the final two preseason games, recent reports suggest the starting job is Gabbert's to lose.

  • Kirk Cousins QB | LV

Redskins' Kirk Cousins: Held out Friday

Cousins was held out of Friday's preseason win against the Jets, Mike Jones of the Washington Post reports.

Cousins was merely a healthy scratch, along with wideouts DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon. Expect Cousins to return to action Friday against the Bills in what will be a dress rehearsal of sorts for the regular season.

  • Luke McCown QB | DAL

Saints' Luke McCown: Turns in strong second half

McCown completed 14 of 19 passes for 118 yards, adding 25 yards on three carries in Saturday's preseason game against the Texans.

With 2015 third-round selection Garrett Grayson failing to impress through the first two weeks of the preseason, McCown doesn't seem to be in any danger of losing the No. 2 quarterback job.

  • Vikings' Teddy Bridgewater: No passes in Saturday's practice

Bridgewater (shoulder) took part in Saturday's practice but didn't attempt a pass, ESPN.com reports.

Bridgewater was sidelined in Thursday's preseason game due to a sore right shoulder, a diagnosis that was confirmed by head coach Mike Zimmer after Saturday's session. The quarterback himself was capped to running plays, but with plenty of time to rest up in advance of the Vikings' next exhibition on Sunday, Aug. 28 versus the Chargers, Bridgewater will likely suit up in order to log as much time as possible with the first-team offense, assuming his shoulder heals sufficiently.

  • Brad Sorensen QB | MIN

Vikings' Brad Sorensen: Signs with Vikings

The Vikings signed Sorensen on Saturday, the team's official site reports.

A seventh round pick of the Chargers in the 2013 NFL Draft, Sorensen has been a mainstay of the practice squad for the bulk of his career. With Taylor Heinicke (ankle) on the pine for the foreseeable future, Sorenson will compete with undrafted rookie Joel Stave for the third-string role under center in Minnesota.

  • Jets' Christian Hackenberg: Does not play against Washington

Hackenberg did not play in Friday's preseason game against Washington and is unlikely to play in the Jets' third preseason game next week against the Giants, the New York Post reports.

Bryce Petty played the entire second half for the Jets and appears to be in serious contention for the backup job. With the Jets expected to play most of their starters into the second half against the Giants, Hackenberg will only have their final preseason game to make a case for a roster spot.

  • Dustin Vaughan QB | BAL

Steelers' Dustin Vaughan: Suffers broken thumb

Vaughan has suffered a broken thumb, Mark kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

The injury likely occurred in Thursday's matchup with the Eagles. Vaughan completed 7 of 13 passes for 67 yards in the contest. The 25-year-old already figured to be a long shot at making the final roster, as he projects as the fourth string quarterback on the team's depth chart. The Steelers also signed quarterback Bryn Renner on Saturday, which does not bode well for Vaughan's chances of making the roster.

  • Mike Bercovici QB | ARI

Chargers' Mike Bercovici: Efficient in win over Cardinals

Bercovici completed nine of his 13 pass attempts for 134 yards in Friday's preseason win over the Cardinals.

Bercovici came on in relief of Kellen Clemens and was extremely efficient in limited duty, averaging 8.3 yards per attempt and receiving a quarterback rating of 94.4. Bercovici will continue to battle for a roster spot behind Philip Rivers with Kellen Clemens and Zach Mettenberger, and performances such as Friday's will help his cause as the franchise trims the roster moving forward.

  • Matt Barkley QB | JAC

Cardinals' Matt Barkley: Improved efficiency versus Chargers

Barkley completed 10 of 15 passes for 85 yards and added another seven yards on his only rushing attempt Friday versus the Chargers.

Barkley was much more efficient than he was in his preseason debut, but his production was hardly anything to write home about. He is likely to retain his third-string status as a developmental quarterback for Arizona and should continue to see plenty of reps for the duration of the preseason.
