Texans coach Bill O'Brien said rookie quarterback Tom Savage has "closed the gap" with No. 2 quarterback Case Keenum. Savage hit 5 of 6 passes for 68 yards and a touchdown against the Broncos on Saturday, while Keenum went 11 of 18 for 74 yards.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford tore his left ACL again Saturday and is out for the season, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Bradford suffered the injury in the first quarter against the Browns. It's the same injury that cost him the second half of last season.

Despite initial reports indicating Sam Bradford's ACL is intact, there is "real concern" the Rams quarterback tore the ligament again, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter. Bradford reinjured his left knee in Saturday's preseason game against the Browns and was scheduled to get an MRI on Sunday.

He missed the final nine games last season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was asked following Saturday night's game in Kansas City if he was ready to name a starting quarterback, and Zimmer said, "No." But Zimmer praised Matt Cassel, who hit 9 of 17 throws for 152 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

Minnesota is fully expected to name Cassel the starter over rookie Teddy Bridgewater. Cassel played into the third quarter Saturday.

Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater entered in the third quarter Saturday and threw a pair of touchdowns in Minnesota's 30-12 win in Kansas City. Bridgewater hit 4 of 7 throws for 40 yards, including both scores to tight end Allen Reisner.

In three preseason games, Bridgewater is 26 of 40 for 266 yards and four scores with no interceptions. To get a chance at starting, he'll need Matt Cassel to falter.

Browns quarterback Brian Hoyer had another uneven performance Saturday night against the Rams in preseason action.

Hoyer got the start and was intercepted by Alex Ogletree in the second quarter. He redeemed himself on his final drive of the night with 5-yard touchdown strike to Andrew Hawkins with 35 second remaining in the first half. He compiled 84 yards through the air while completing 10 of 16 passes. He added a touchdown, and interception and finished with a passer rating of 70.8.

Hoyer will start Week 1 for the Browns at Pittsburgh.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill had a quiet performance as he failed to get in the end zone during Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.

Tannehill had some issues again connecting with primary target Mike Wallace, missing his receiver wide open on a deep route in the first half. On his first drive after halftime, Tannehill was picked off by Tyler Patmon. The third-year quarterback compiled 119 yards through the air while completing 13 of 21 passes. He had one interception and finished with a 57.4 passer rating.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford may have dodged a bullet Saturday night against the Browns. Initial tests on his left knee did not reveal any damage to his ACL, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. He is expected to undergo further tests on Sunday.

Bradford appeared in his second preseason game since tearing his left ACL. He took a hit to his surgically-repaired knee after releasing the ball by defensive end Amonty Bryant in the first half. He was on the ground for a bit before he was escorted back to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game. He completed 4 of 9 passes for 77 yards before leaving the game.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford was removed from Saturday's preseason game with an apparent leg injury.

Bradford, who is recovering from a torn ACL, took a hit after releasing the ball by defensive end Amonty Bryant in the first half. He was on the ground for a bit before he was escorted back to the locker room for further evaluation. The trainers were tending to his left knee -- the same knee he injured last year. He was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

Eagles coach Chip Kelly confirmed that Nick Foles and backup Mark Sanchez will sit out the preseason finale, Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia reports. Matt Barkley will get the nod Thursday against the Jets.
