  • Case Keenum QB | CHI

Texans' Case Keenum: Headed to IR

The Texans are placing Keenum (foot) on IR, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Per the report, Keenum's placement on IR is due to a lingering foot injury that he aggravated in the Texans' final preseason game against the Rams. As a result, C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills are on track to be the only QB's on the team's initial 53-man roster.

  • P.J. Walker QB | SEA

PJ Walker: Set loose by Seattle

The Seahawks released Walker on Tuesday, Brady Henderson of ESPN.com reports.

Walker never seemed like a true candidate to beat out Sam Howell for the No. 2 role behind Geno Smith, but he could resurface on Seattle's practice squad as the team's emergency third quarterback. The veteran signal-caller appeared in six games for the Browns last season.

  • Sean Clifford QB | CIN

Sean Clifford: Doesn't survive roster cuts

Clifford was waived by the Packers on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Clifford served as Green Bay's backup quarterback last season after the team selected him in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. However, the team has acquired Malik Willis from Tennessee, who is now slated to be the No. 2, behind Jordan Love.

  • Michael Pratt: Cut by Green Bay

The Packers waived Pratt on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The seventh-round rookie out of Tulane completed 23 of 35 passes for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception during the preseason. The Packers could try to further develop Pratt on the practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Sam Hartman QB | WAS

    Sam Hartman: Won't make team

Hartman (shoulder) was waived by the Commanders on Tuesday,

Hartman missed most of camp due to a shoulder injury, but since he was not waived with an injury designation, it appears he has since recovered.

  • E.J. Perry QB | JAC

    E.J. Perry: Doesn't crack 53-man roster

Perry was waived by the Jaguars on Tuesday.

Perry joined the team last Wednesday as an extra body while C.J. Beathard was dealing with a groin injury. The 26-year-old was unable to turn that limited time into a greater opportunity, but he has been a member of Jacksonville's practice squad in the past and could see that opportunity arrive again.

  • Luis Perez QB | LAC

Luis Perez: Let go by Los Angeles

The Chargers waived Perez on Tuesday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.

After playing in the UFL, Perez signed with the Chargers earlier this month. He completed just 18 of 32 passes for 139 yards (4.3 YPA) this preseason with no touchdowns. It wasn't enough to win a spot on the 53-man roster behind Justin Herbert.

  • Patriots' Jacoby Brissett: No concern about shoulder

Brissett (right shoulder) said Tuesday that he feels "100 percent fine" and is ready for the start of the regular season, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

It's not surprising given that Brissett played two more snaps and threw a pair of accurate passes after taking a hard hit on the opening drive of Sunday's preseason loss to Washington. The Patriots planned on playing him for just one series anyway before bringing rookie QB Drake Maye into the game. Coach Jerod Mayo acknowledged Monday that Maye outplayed Brissett during the preseason, but Mayo also suggested he may name the veteran as the Week 1 starter, saying, "We've all seen the horror stories of rookie QBs getting thrown to the wolves," per Chad Graff of The Athletic. Mayo hasn't said when he plans to name his starter for the regular-season opener at Cincinnati.

  • Tim Boyle QB | TEN

    Tim Boyle: Cut by Houston

The Texans are slated to release Boyle on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Boyle spent the preseason behind C.J. Stroud and Davis Mills on Houston's depth chart, so while the team could be interested in bringing him back via the practice squad, he never had a clear path to a spot on the 53-man roster. Last season, Boyle suited up for three games with the Jets.

  • Brett Rypien QB | MIN

    Brett Rypien: Released by Chicago

Rypien was released by the Bears on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

The 28-year-old Rypien spent 2023 with the Rams, Seahawks and Jets before declaring free agency in March. He then signed with the Bears but was unable to beat out Tyson Bagent for QB2 duties behind No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams. Rypien went 24 of 34 passing (70.6 percent) for 335 yards and three touchdowns this preseason. It was a strong enough showing to possibly get Rypien a look elsewhere as a top backup.
