Sam Darnold QB | SEA
Panthers' Sam Darnold: Comes off IR
Darnold (ankle) was activated from injured reserve Monday, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Now that he's made a full recovery from the left high-ankle sprain he sustained in late August, Darnold will join a Carolina quarterback room that became even more unsettled during Sunday's 42-21 loss to Cincinnati. While making his fourth consecutive start, PJ Walker threw two interceptions and completed just three of 10 pass attempts before being benched at halftime. Baker Mayfield performed reasonably well in relief over the final two quarters, but he completed only 54.9 percent of his throws for 6.3 yards per attempt while starting the Panthers' first five games before losing the job due to injury. The addition of Darnold, who turned in 11 mostly underwhelming starts for Carolina in 2021, further complicates the picture. Interim head coach Steve Wilks named Walker the starter for the team's Week 10 game against the Falcons on Thursday, so one of Mayfield or Darnold will serve as the top backup signal-caller.

Malik Willis QB | MIA
Titans' Malik Willis: Struggles in second start
Willis completed just five of 16 pass attempts for 80 yards and rushed eight times for 40 yards in Sunday's 20-17 overtime loss to Kansas City.
Willis was thrust into another start with Ryan Tannehill (ankle) still unavailable due to injury. The rookie performed better than his mediocre stat line would suggest, as he was able to protect the ball and provide enough of a threat with his legs to allow Derrick Henry (17/115/2) to eat. Willis' inexperience showed down the stretch when he suffered a couple of drive-killing sacks while trying to extend broken plays. Ryan Tannehill was questionable leading up to this primetime loss, so the the third-round pick may find himself back at No. 2 on the quarterback depth chart for next Sunday's tilt against the Broncos. If the former is unable to go, Willis should be treated as a low-end fantasy option based on his poor results over his two emergency starts.

Patrick Mahomes QB | KC
Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes: Does it all in clutch OT victory
Mahomes completed 43 of 68 pass attempts for 446 yards, a touchdown and an interception while adding 63 rushing yards and another score on six attempts in Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over the Titans.
Mahomes faced a stiff test in the form of a physical Titans defense, and he was up for the challenge despite a slow start for the entire offense. The superstar quarterback did everything but catch his own passes, resulting in over 500 yards of offense for pleased fantasy managers. Even the interception can't be blamed on Mahomes, as the usually sure-handed Travis Kelce bobbled a short pass into a waiting defender's hands. The 26-year-old Mahomes stole the show down the stretch with two impressive scrambles to extend drives and send the game into overtime. All in all, it was another dominant performance from one of the game's top players. Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Jaguars next Sunday.

Sam Ehlinger QB | DEN
Colts' Sam Ehlinger: Struggles in Foxboro
Ehlinger completed 15 of 29 passes for 103 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Patriots. He added five rushes for 39 yards.
After a promising first NFL start, Ehlinger looked overwhelmed in Sunday's blowout loss to the Patriots. In addition to averaging only 3.6 yards per attempt, Ehlinger was also sacked nine times. If there is one positive to take from the effort, he was more effective on the ground and showed the potential to be a dual-threat quarterback -- which also aligns with his college profile. Ehlinger should also benefit from a softer matchup against the Raiders in Week 10.

Mac Jones QB | SF
Patriots' Mac Jones: Not asked to do much in win
Jones completed 20 of 30 passes for 147 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 26-3 win over the Colts.
Jones played mistake-free, as he didn't turn the ball over and managed the Patriots' offense effectively. His lone touchdown came on a three-yard pass to Rhamondre Stevenson, and he connected with Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith for lengthy gains of 30 and 24 yards. In two full games since returning from an ankle injury, Jones has combined to throw for 341 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while averaging 5.2 yards per attempt.

Trevor Lawrence QB | JAC
Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Guides Jags to comeback win
Lawrence completed 25 of 31 passes for 235 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Raiders. He added six rushes for 53 yards.
Even in a comeback effort, Lawrence took a back seat to Travis Etienne in the offense. However, he was effective when called upon, highlighted by a 44-yard run just before halftime that helped set up a field goal. Lawrence also showed a particular connection with Christian Kirk, connecting with him for his longest gain through the air of 23 yards and also for his lone passing score of seven yards. While it was an encouraging performance from Lawrence, he has failed to record multiple passing touchdowns in five consecutive games. On the other hand, he's shown surprising upside on the ground, totaling three rushing scores in that same span.
-
Derek Carr QB | NO
Raiders' Derek Carr: Two touchdowns in loss
Carr completed 21 of 36 passes for 259 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Jaguars.
Carr jumped on the Jaguars early by leading scoring drives on each of the Raiders' first three possessions, highlighted by touchdown throws of 25 and 38 yards to Davante Adams. He cooled considerably from there, particularly in the second half, when he completed only five of his 15 passes for 36 yards. Nevertheless, Carr managed his fifth multi-touchdown effort in eight games this season while also topping 250 passing yards for the fourth time.
-
Matthew Stafford QB | LAR
Rams' Matthew Stafford: Struggles in Week 9 loss
Stafford completed 13 of 27 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Buccaneers.
It was a rough day for both offenses, but Stafford wound up with one of his worst performances of the year, setting a new season low in passing yards and completing fewer than 50 percent of his passes for the first time as a Ram. His offensive line once again struggled against any kind of pass rush, and the veteran QB was sacked four times -- the fourth time in the last six games he's been brought down that often. Stafford will hope to get enough time in the pocket to rebound in Week 10 against the Cardinals.
-
Baker Mayfield QB | TB
Panthers' Baker Mayfield: Effective in relief
Mayfield completed 14 of his 20 pass attempts for 155 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Bengals.
Mayfield entered the game in relief of PJ Walker, who was benched at halftime. Mayfield turned in the better performance of the duo, but as he noted in his postgame comments, the Bengals were playing soft coverage while protecting a multi-score lead. Nevertheless, he made the case to retake his role as Carolina's starting quarterback, with interim coach Steve Wilks saying after the game that he needs to evaluate the tape prior to naming a starter for Thursday's Week 10 matchup against the Falcons, per David Newton of ESPN.com.

Kyler Murray QB | MIN
Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Tosses two TDs in loss
Murray completed 25 of 35 passes for 175 yards and two touchdowns and added 60 rushing yards on eight carries in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Seahawks.
The quarterback led Arizona in rushing yards and kept his team in the game most of the afternoon, but his offensive line didn't give him much protection -- Murray was sacked five times, including two on the Cardinals' final possession to squelch any chance of a comeback. The 175 passing yards were a season low, as was his 5.0 yards per attempt, but Murray's tossed multiple TDs in two straight games heading into a Week 10 road matchup against the Rams.
