  • Jaguars' Trevor Lawrence: Connects with new TE for TD

Lawrence completed six of 12 passes for 95 yards and a touchdown while adding an 11-yard run in Friday's 24-13 preseason loss to the Browns.

After leading a pair of field-goal drives in the first quarter, Lawrence connected with tight end Evan Engram for a nine-yard touchdown to take a 13-0 lead early in the second quarter on his final pass of the game. Cleveland's backups staged a comeback after that, but this was an encouraging performance from Jacksonville's starters on both sides of the ball. Lawrence will look to build on this performance in Jacksonville's next preseason game, Aug. 20 against the Steelers.

Jets' Zach Wilson: Set for MRI on Saturday

Coach Robert Saleh said Friday that Wilson will undergo an MRI on his right knee Saturday, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.

Wilson left Friday's preseason win at Philadelphia early in the first quarter after he came up limping at the end of a seven-yard scramble. Eventually, the Jets ruled out a return for their franchise quarterback, and afterward Saleh told Brian Costello of the New York Post that an initial evaluation of Wilson's right knee implied the ACL is intact, which will be confirmed, one way or another, by Saturday's test. Assuming Wilson has to miss time, the team currently rosters QBs Joe Flacco, Mike White and Chris Streveler.

  • Deshaun Watson QB | CLE

Browns' Deshaun Watson: Struggles in Cleveland debut

Watson completed one of five passes for seven yards in Friday's 24-13 preseason win over Jacksonville.

Watson played the first three drives, and the team failed to pick up a first down during his time in the game. He was understandably rusty after sitting out all of last season, but as things stand Watson could continue to get opportunities to find his game throughout the remainder of the preseason before sitting out at least the first six games of the regular season, at minimum, due to a suspension. Watson will look to put forth a sharper performance in Cleveland's second preseason game, Aug. 21 against the Eagles.

  • Falcons' Desmond Ridder: Leads comeback win

Ridder completed 10 of 22 passes for 103 yards and two touchdowns in Friday's 27-23 preseason win over the Lions. He also rushed six times for 59 yards.

Ridder's night was highlighted by a 21-yard touchdown to Jared Bernhardt to give Atlanta the lead with 1:30 left. The rookie third-rounder threw a one-yard score earlier in the game, and like starter Marcus Mariota, Ridder showed off his wheels as a runner as well. In playing only the opening series, Mariota completed both his attempts for 36 yards and rushed three times for 23 yards and a touchdown. While Mariota could play more in the Falcons' next preseason game versus the Jets, Ridder's game-winning effort will make his progress interesting to track too.

  • Marcus Mariota QB | WAS

Falcons' Marcus Mariota: Rushes for score

Mariota completed both of his passing attempts for 36 yards and rushed three times for 23 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 27-23 preseason win over the Lions.

Mariota only played Atlanta's opening series but made his presence felt. The signal-caller connected with first-round pick Drake London on a 24-yard gain prior to capping the series with a six-yard scramble for a score. Although London was banged up following his reception, he was reportedly walking around on the sideline afterward, which is certainly a good sign for Mariota's prospects as he prepares for the upcoming campaign. Behind Mariota, rookie Desmond Ridder completed 10 of 22 throws for 103 yards and two touchdowns, including a 21-yard, go-ahead score with 1:30 remaining. Ridder also rushed six times for 59 yards, helping his case to push Mariota for reps early on.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

    Bengals' Brandon Allen: Concussion confirmed

Allen was ruled out after suffering a concussion during Friday's preseason opener against Arizona.

Allen was previously seen heading to Cincinnati's locker room after being evaluated for a concussion on the sidelines, and he'll likely have to miss extended time this preseason after this injury was later confirmed Friday night. As a result, Jake Browning stepped in as the Bengals' quarterback with starter Joe Burrow still recovering from an offseason appendix surgery. During Allen's presumptive absence, Browning will likely split snaps with undrafted signal-caller Drew Plitt this preseason.

  • Brandon Allen QB | NYG

Bengals' Brandon Allen: Being checked for concussion

Allen exited Friday night's preseason game against Arizona to be evaluated for a possible concussion.

Allen is questionable to return Friday after heading to the locker room with a potential concussion. The 29-year-old backup signal-caller has seen the majority of Cincinnati's first-team reps during practice while starter Joe Burrow is out after undergoing an appendectomy July 26. With Allen out, fourth-year quarterback Jake Browning should work as the Bengals' primary passer for much of Friday's game.

  • Zach Wilson QB | NO

Jets' Zach Wilson: Injures right knee Friday

Wilson sustained a right knee injury during Friday's preseason game in Philadelphia and is questionable to return.

At the end of a seven-yard scramble in the first quarter, Wilson dove, had a visible limp when he got to his feet and then fell back to the turf, where he remained for multiple minutes. He then made his way to the locker room. Last year, he missed four games in the middle of the season due to a sprained PCL in his right knee, but it remains to be seen if he'll suffer a similar fate this time around. If Wilson misses any time, Joe Flacco, Mike White and Chris Streveler will handle quarterback duties for the Jets.

Jets' Zach Wilson: Leaves Friday's game

Wilson went to the locker room after sustaining an undisclosed injury during Friday's preseason game at Philadelphia, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

The injury occurred at the end of a seven-yard scramble, after which he dove forward, attempted to get up and then remained on the turf for a few minutes, according to Connor Hughes of The Athletic. With Joe Flacco sitting out Friday, the Jets are down to Mike White and Chris Streveler at quarterback.

  • Jared Goff QB | DET

Lions' Jared Goff: Leads TD drive in preseason opener

Goff completed three of four passes for 47 yards during Friday's preseason game against Atlanta.

Detroit only let its starting offense play one series, but Goff largely made the most of it by leading a long scoring drive that ended with a D'Andre Swift touchdown. It wouldn't be a surprise if this was the last we see of him until the regular season since the Lions still need to figure out whether to trust Tim Boyle or David Blough with backup quarterback duties before Week 1.
