Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Produces TD with 19 touches
Mixon (chest) had 14 carries for 37 yards and a touchdown while adding five receptions for 31 yards off of six targets in Sunday's 24-18 win over the Bills.
Mixon suited up for Sunday Night Football as expected after dealing with a minor chest injury early in the practice week. Cincinnati's workhorse wound up handling 19 combined touches, which is right in line with the 18.7 touches he averaged prior to Sunday's win. Mixon's touchdowns and receptions are slightly behind last year's pace, but we could see the entire Bengals' offense receive a boost in the second half -- continuing with next Sunday's tilt versus Houston -- if Joe Burrow continues his recent hot streak.

James Cook RB | BUF
Bills' James Cook: Disappointing numbers in loss
Cook rushed six times for 20 yards and brought in all four targets for 19 yards in the Bills' 24-18 loss to the Bengals on Sunday night.
Cook's role on the ground was especially reduced with the Bills trailing for nearly the entire contest, and he couldn't fully make up for it with his work in the passing game. The talented second-year pro's carry total was his second lowest of the season, but Cook could have a much better opportunity for rushing production against a vulnerable Broncos run defense in a Week 10 home matchup Monday night, Nov. 13.

Keaton Mitchell RB | LAC
Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Proves to be big-play threat
Mitchell recorded nine rushes for 138 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 37-3 win over the Seahawks. He added one reception for negative-four yards.
Mitchell's final line jumps off the page, as he accounted for two of Baltimore's three longest plays from scrimmage with 60 and 40-yard runs -- the latter of which went for his first career touchdown. While both came in garbage time, Mitchell's usage was intriguing, as he earned an equal amount of carries to Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in the first half. Mitchell ran an impressive 4.37 40-yard dash at the 2023 combine, so if he can continue to gain a foothold in the offense, he could emerge as a big-play threat.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Another multi-touchdown week
Edwards rushed the ball five times for 52 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 37-3 win over Seattle.
Edwards saw four of his five touches in the first half, splitting carries evenly with Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell. He saw only one rush attempt in the final two quarters, though it was unclear whether that was due to Baltimore's significant lead, or if he is losing ground in the running-back competition. Even with the limited workload, Edwards found the end zone twice to tally his second consecutive multi-touchdown game. Even if his volume fluctuates, it appears his role at the goal line remains secure.

Kenneth Gainwell RB | TB
Eagles' Kenneth Gainwell: Gets into end zone in Sunday's win
Gainwell carried the ball three times for 22 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for one yard in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Cowboys.
The third-year running back launched himself into the end zone with a forward flip from the three-yard line in the first quarter for the game's first points, giving Gainwell his second TD of the season -- both of which have come in the last three contests. His workload behind starter D'Andre Swift remains limited, but he's making the most of it, and Gainwell's role could grow coming out of the Eagles' Week 10 bye as the team gets ready for a Super Bowl rematch with Kansas City in Week 11.
-
D'Andre Swift RB | CHI
Eagles' D'Andre Swift: Bottled up by Dallas
Swift carried the ball 18 times for 43 yards and caught both his targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 28-23 win over the Cowboys.
While his final yardage numbers were respectable, Swift was contained on the ground by the Dallas front seven and averaged a woeful 2.4 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Kenneth Gainwell scored on a 12-yard run in the first quarter, and even Rashaad Penny saw his first totes since Week 2 in the second half as the Eagles tried to get their running game going. Swift's 20 touches still dominated the backfield (Gainwell and Penny had six touches combined), but the former Lion hasn't reached 80 scrimmage yards in four straight games. Swift will get a bye next week to recharge before preparing for a Super Bowl rematch with Kansas City in Week 11.

Tony Pollard RB | TEN
Cowboys' Tony Pollard: Quiet again in Week 9 loss
Pollard carried the ball 12 times for 51 yards and caught three of five passes for 12 yards in Sunday's 28-23 loss to the Eagles.
The running back found some success against a tough Philly front seven in the second half and wound up averaging a respectable 4.3 yards per carry, but Pollard still found himself taking on a secondary role in the Dallas offense even in a competitive contest. Since seeing huge volume early in the season, he's gotten 15 touches or less in four of the last five games, averaging just 70.4 scrimmage yards a game and failing to get into the end zone. In fact, Pollard somehow hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 1, when he ran in two TDs against the Giants in a 40-0 rout. A rematch against the Cowboys' NFC East rivals from New York in Week 10 could be just what Pollard needs to get rolling again.

Tyler Allgeier RB | ARI
Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Regains role in backfield
Allgeier rushed the ball 12 times for 39 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 loss to the Vikings. He added two catches for negative-nine yards.
Allgeier saw 14 touches compared to 13 for Bijan Robinson. That was dictated in part by a Robinson fumble that pushed him to the bench for two possessions, but the split in workload would have been close regardless. Allgeier was significantly less efficient on the ground, but he ended up with a five-yard touchdown rush late in the fourth quarter that falsely appeared to clinch the win for Atlanta. Though his workload fluctuates from week to week, he maintains a significant role in the offense.
-
Alexander Mattison RB | MIA
Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Produces as pass catcher
Mattison rushed the ball 16 times for 44 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win over Atlanta. He added two catches on two targets for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Mattison led the backfield with 18 touches compared to 10 for Cam Akers (Achilles). He wasn't particularly effective on the ground -- he averaged only 2.8 yards per carry with a long of eight -- but he accounted for Minnesota's longest play from scrimmage on a 47-yard reception. Mattison also found the end zone on a two-yard touchdown catch just before halftime. With Akers feared to have suffered a season-ending torn Achilles' tendon, Mattison could reclaim a more substantial portion of the snaps and touches out of Minnesota's backfield heading into a Week 10 matchup with the Saints.

Keaontay Ingram RB | KC
Cardinals' Keaontay Ingram: Stymied as lead back in loss
Ingram rushed nine times for eight yards and wasn't targeted in the Cardinals' 27-0 loss to the Browns on Sunday.
With James Conner (knee) still on IR and Emari Demercado (toe) inactive, Ingram had an opportunity to helm the Cardinals' backfield. However the combination of a tough Browns defense and stacked fronts thanks to the presence of rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune under center for Arizona made it a forgettable day for Ingram before game script essentially froze out the ground attack. Conner is reportedly in play for a Week 10 return against the Falcons, but even if he sits out at least one more game, it's possible Demercado returns and relegates Ingram back to a complementary role.
