Alexander Mattison RB | MIA
Vikings' Alexander Mattison: Salvages day with TD
Mattison carried the ball eight times for 26 yards and caught two of three targets for 20 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 loss to Kansas City.
The Vikings' running game had no success on the day -- Cam Akers managed only 15 rushing yards on five carries -- but Mattison's nine-yard TD catch on a screen pass from Kirk Cousins early in the fourth quarter brought Minnesota within a score. The fifth-year RB then dropped another potential touchdown on the team's next possession, however. Mattison is still looking for his first rushing touchdown of the year to go with his two receiving TDs, and he appears to be drifting into a timeshare with Akers heading into a Week 6 clash with the Bears.

Zack Moss RB | CIN
Colts' Zack Moss: Impresses with Taylor back
Moss rushed the ball 23 times for 165 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Titans. He added two receptions for 30 yards.
Moss was expected to lose work with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) making his season debut, but he instead turned in a career-best 165 yards. He also added two touchdowns, the first from 56 yards away and the other a three-yard plunge into the end zone. Moss will almost certainly take a step back as Taylor gets back into game shape, but he has at least 70 rushing yards in all four games this season and could keep a more significant role than originally anticipated.

Isiah Pacheco RB | DET
Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Finds end zone again Sunday
Pacheco carried the ball 16 times for 55 yards and a touchdown and caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Vikings.
The second-year RB got into the end zone for the third straight game, opening the scoring exactly five minutes into the first quarter with a one-yard TD plunge. Pacheco has seized firm control of the top job in the Kansas City backfield with 302 rushing yards, three TDs and 4.8 yards per carry over the last four contests, and he could break out in Week 6 against a Broncos run defense that just surrendered 177 yards to the Jets' Breece Hall -- only the second-highest rushing total Denver's given up to a running back in 2023.
-
Jaleel McLaughlin RB | DEN
Broncos' Jaleel McLaughlin: Leading rusher Sunday
McLaughlin had nine carries for 68 yards and caught three of four targets for 21 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jets.
McLaughlin wound up receiving 12 combined touches to Samaje Perine's 10, as the pair of backups combined to fill in for injured starter Javonte Williams (hamstring) on Sunday. McLaughlin finished with the stronger fantasy day after catching one of Russell Wilson's two touchdown throws, giving the undrafted free agent two receiving touchdowns in as many weeks. Perine gained 95 total yards on his 10 touches, so the veteran figures to remain in the backfield mix if Williams isn't ready for Thursday's tilt against the Chiefs. In that scenario, McLaughlin would become the preferred fantasy option in Denver's backfield after averaging 7.3 yards per carry so far as a rookie.

Emari Demercado RB | KC
Cardinals' Emari Demercado: Finds end zone Sunday
Demercado carried the ball 10 times for 45 yards and a touchdown and caught one of three targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 34-20 loss to the Bengals.
James Conner left the game in the first half with a knee injury and didn't return, and Demercado was the only Cardinals' running back to get a carry afterward, producing solid yardage along with his first career NFL touchdown on an 11-yard scamper in the third quarter. Given Conner's track record -- he's never played a full schedule in six seasons -- the undrafted rookie out of TCU could see his first career start in Week 6 against the Rams.
-
D'Andre Swift RB | CHI
Eagles' D'Andre Swift: Goes over 100 combined yards
Swift had 17 carries for 70 yards and six receptions on as many targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 23-14 win over the Rams.
Swift teamed up with quarterback Jalen Hurts (15-71-1) for a methodical rushing performance that resulted in the Eagles nearly doubling the Rams' time of possession in the win. Kenneth Gainwell (7-17-0) was the only tailback other than Swift to receive a carry Sunday. Philadelphia's big offseason acquisition is averaging 18.8 carries and 107.8 rushing yards over the last four games following his Week 1 dud. Swift will look to continue his hot streak against the Jets next Sunday.
-
Matt Breida RB | SF
Giants' Matt Breida: Logs 10 touches in loss
Breida rushed nine times for 21 yards and brought in his only target for three yards in the Giants' 31-16 loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
The veteran opened the contest as the No. 1 back for the third consecutive game with Saquon Barkley (ankle) still sidelined, but Breida was ultimately ineffective against one of his former squads and saw rookie Eric Gray outpace him by three carries. Both Breida and Gray figure to slide back into rotational roles with Barkley likely to return in a Week 6 road matchup against the Bills.
-
Joe Mixon RB | HOU
Bengals' Joe Mixon: Productive in Week 5 win
Mixon carried the ball 25 times for 81 yards and caught all four of his targets for 13 yards in Sunday's 34-20 win over the Cardinals.
While Ja'Marr Chase scored all the touchdowns for the Bengals in the victory, Mixon kept the chains moving by topping 90 scrimmage yards for the second time this season. With quarterback Joe Burrow finally looking healthy again, the whole Cincy offense should open up, giving Mixon some upside in Week 6 against a Seahawks defense that's surrendered five rushing TDs in four games.
-
Derrick Henry RB | BAL
Titans' Derrick Henry: Held in check by Colts
Henry rushed the ball 13 times for 43 yards in Sunday's 23-16 loss to the Colts. He added three receptions for 19 yards.
After getting on track in Week 4, Henry had a concerning game against the Colts. As his stat line suggests, he was unable to find much room on the ground, and he was also stood up by Zaire Franklin on a key fourth down with only eight minutes remaining in the game -- a play that contributed significantly to the Tennessee loss. Tyjae Spears also saw a significant role in the offense, earning only four touches fewer than Henry. Overall, the effort continued Henry's slow start to the season, as he has 65 or fewer rushing yards in three of his five games.

Tyler Allgeier RB | ARI
Falcons' Tyler Allgeier: Team-high carry total in win
Allgeier rushed 17 times for 40 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Falcons' 21-19 win over the Texans on Sunday. He also recorded a two-point conversion catch.
After back-to-back seven-carry tallies, Allgeier's workload shot up Sunday, with the second-year back even outpacing star backfield mate Bijan Robinson by three totes. Allgeier couldn't get much accomplished with the opportunity as his final line implies, but Robinson was also stymied to the tune of 3.3 yards per carry. While Robinson is clearly the lead option in the ground attack, Allgeier should continue to see his fair share of opportunities most weeks in head coach Arthur Smith's run-centric attack.
