  • Rashaad Penny RB | CAR

Eagles' Rashaad Penny: Inactive, as expected

Penny (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams.

Penny was added to the injury report Saturday with the illness, and as is often the case with those type of scenarios, he's been relegated to inactive status Sunday. Considering Penny had already been a healthy scratch in three of the first four games of the season, his absence won't have any impact on fantasy lineups. Penny's next chance to suit up comes in a Week 6 interconference matchup against the Jets.

  • Jaguars' Travis Etienne: Scores twice, totals 184 yards

Eitienne rushed 26 times for 136 yards and two touchdowns and caught four of five targets for 48 yards during Sunday's 25-20 win against the Bills. He also secured a successful two-point conversion.

The 24-year-old broke the century mark on the ground for the first time this season and also reached the end zone for the first time since Week 1. Etienne tallied both scores in the fourth quarter Sunday and essentially put the game away with a 35-yard touchdown run in the final minutes. Through five games this season, he's run for 396 yards and three touchdowns on 95 carries while catching 18 passes for 144 yards. A divisional matchup with the Colts awaits in Week 6.

  • D'Onta Foreman RB | CLE

Bears' D'Onta Foreman: Could have role in depleted RB room

Foreman, who has been a healthy inactive for the Bears' last four games, could factor into the game plan Week 6 against the Vikings due to numerous injuries in Chicago's running back group, Gene Chamberlain of SI.com reports.

In the aftermath of Thursday's 40-20 win over the Commanders, all three backs the Bears had active for the contest sustained an injury. The high-ankle sprain that No. 1 back Khalil Herbert suffered is the most significant and will likely sideline him for multiple weeks, while backups Roschon Johnson (concussion) and Travis Homer (hamstring) are also looking iffy for the Week 6 contest. The Bears have already restored some depth to the position group by poaching Darrynton Evans from the Dolphins' practice squad, but Foreman profiles as a more realistic candidate to lead the ground attack if neither Herbert nor Johnson are available. After carrying five times for 16 yards and adding two receptions for eight yards in the Bears' Week 1 loss to the Packers, Foreman fell out of the backfield rotation while the coaching staff elected to install Johnson as Herbert's top understudy.

  • Lions' David Montgomery: To be lead runner with Gibbs out

Montgomery will be the Lions' top available running back with Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) inactive Sunday against the Panthers.

Montgomery hasn't been lacking for touches in his three appearances with a healthy Gibbs this season, racking up 69 carries and three catches on as many targets for 289 yards from scrimmage and five rushing TDs to date. With Gibbs sidelined Sunday, Montgomery should retain his usual volume on the ground, but he also could get a few more looks as a pass catcher considering Detroit's other available RBs are Craig Reynolds (20 targets in 23 career games) and Zonovan Knight (14 and eight, respectively).

  • Matt Breida RB | SF

Giants' Matt Breida: Set for lead role again

Breida is expected to remain the Giants' lead running back for Sunday's game against the Dolphins with Saquon Barkley (ankle) inactive for the contest, ESPN.com reports.

Breida will get a third consecutive start while Barkley misses another game due to a right high-ankle sprain. The 28-year-old has played north of 70 percent of the snaps on offense in both of his first two starts, carrying 18 times for 47 yards and a touchdown while adding eight receptions for 49 yards between those contests. A poor Giants offensive line will be without left tackle Andrew Thomas (hamstring), interior lineman Shane Lemieux (groin) and John Michael Schmitz (shoulder) in Week 5, so while he may once again be in line for a healthy snap and touch count, Breida could struggle to generate yardage efficiently.

  • Salvon Ahmed RB | CHI

Dolphins' Salvon Ahmed: Healthy scratch against Giants

Ahmed (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants.

Ahmed has seen his role diminish both on offense and special teams since the start of the season. A groin injury sidelined him in Week 3, but it now appears that Chris Brooks has moved ahead of him on the depth chart.

  • Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: Suits up Sunday

Stevenson (thigh) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Saints.

Stevenson, who practiced in a limited fashion this week, will give it a go Sunday, and barring any in-game setbacks, figures to maintain his lead role in a New England backfield that also includes Ezekiel Elliott, with Ty Montgomery on hand in a reserve/change-of-pace role. In four games this season, Stevenson has logged 60 carries for 164 yards and a TD to go along with 12 catches (on 16 targets) for 87 yards, while Elliott has put up a 34/138/0 rushing line (and caught eight passes for 27 yards) during the same span.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Suits up Sunday

Hill (foot/hamstring) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Steelers.

After being limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday, Hill returned to a full practice Friday, setting the stage for the running back to face Pittsburgh. Though Hill will be available Sunday, it remains to be seen how busy he will be in Week 5 with Gus Edwards (15 carries last weekend) slated to log his share of early down work and Kenyan Drake available to mix in. In the Ravens' Week 4 win over the Browns, Hill logged seven snaps and carried three times for 33 yards.

  • Saquon Barkley RB | PHI

Giants' Saquon Barkley: Remains out for Week 5

Barkley (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Despite being listed as a limited participant in practices Wednesday through Friday and carrying a questionable tag into the weekend, Barkley will ultimately miss his third consecutive game due to a right high-ankle sprain. Matt Breida is expected to receive another turn as the Giants' lead back in his stead, but if Barkley can upgrade to full participant in practice at some point during Week 6, he should have a good chance at being available for an Oct. 15 matchup with the Bills.

  • Jahmyr Gibbs RB | DET

Lions' Jahmyr Gibbs: Not playing in Week 5

Gibbs (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Gibbs was a late addition to the Lions' Week 5 injury report Friday as limited due to a hamstring issue, which resulted in a questionable tag for the upcoming game day. After he was downgraded to doubtful Saturday, there was little wiggle room for him to be available Sunday, and that has come to pass. Detroit thus will lean on David Montgomery to lead its backfield, with Craig Reynolds and Zonovan Knight on hand for any remaining RB reps.
