Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Bears' Darrynton Evans: Inks deal with Chicago
Evans agreed to a contract with the Bears on Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Evans became a free agent Saturday after terminating his practice squad contract with the Dolphins. With starting running back Khalil Herbert expected to miss multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain, and injuries to Roschon Johnson (concussion) and Travis Homer (hamstring), Evans could get backfield snaps right away in Week 6 against the Vikings on Oct. 15.

Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ
Bears' Khalil Herbert: High ankle sprain, per report
Herbert is reportedly dealing with high ankle sprain after exiting Thursday's 40-20 win over the Commanders, Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports.
Anderson's report supports the notion put forth by Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, who relays that Herbert could miss multiple weeks. Further information regarding Herbert's status for next Sunday's game against the Vikings should come forth when the Bears commence Week 6 practices, but with Roschon Johnson dealing with a concussion and Travis Homer having sustained a hamstring injury Week 5, the Bears backfield is depleted at the moment. D'Onta Foreman -- who has been a healthy inactive for four straight games -- could move into an expanded role Week 6. Meanwhile, Pelissero notes that the Bears plan to sign Darrynton Evans, who had been a member of the Dolphins practice squad.

Jonathan Taylor RB | IND
Colts' Jonathan Taylor: Could split work with Moss in debut
Taylor (ankle), who was activated from the PUP list Saturday and doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Titans, could split snaps with Zack Moss in his season debut, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Shortly after being activated from the PUP list, Taylor came to terms with the Colts on a three-year, $42 million extension, so he'll be locked in as Indianapolis' feature back for the foreseeable future after the team had listened to trade pitches for the 24-year-old running back leading up to Week 1. Though Taylor will likely reclaim one of the heavier snap and touch counts in the NFL beginning in Week 6, the Colts could be inclined to ease him back into action while he plays his first game since Dec. 17. Before practicing Wednesday through Friday this week, Taylor hadn't taken part in any on-field work with the Colts since undergoing surgery in January to address a high-ankle sprain. Taylor is still likely to serve as the Colts' top backfield option Sunday and projects as a must-start player in all but the shallowest of fantasy leagues, but Moss has been a capable between-the-tackles runner over the past three weeks and won't be excised from the game plan entirely Week 5 while head coach Shane Steichen aims to manage Taylor's workload.

Khalil Herbert RB | NYJ
Bears' Khalil Herbert: Expected to miss time
Herbert, who suffered an ankle injury in Thursday's 40-20 win over the Commanders, is expected to miss multiple weeks, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com, Herbert suggested after Thursday's injury that he expected to be "fine" after suffering the injury, but Pelissero's follow-up report suggests that the running back is in line to miss time. With Roschon Johnson dealing with a concussion and Travis Homer having sustained a hamstring injury Week 5, D'Onta Foreman -- who has been a healthy inactive in recent games -- is a candidate to rejoin the mix next Sunday against the Vikings. Either way, Chicago's backfield will be one to monitor closely ahead of Week 6 action, and it possible that the team will add backfield depth in the coming days.

Javonte Williams RB | DAL
Broncos' Javonte Williams: True game-time decision
The Broncos won't make a decision on the status of Williams (quadricep) -- who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Jets -- until after pregame warmups, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Despite practicing in full Friday, Williams looks like a true game-time decision for Week 5. As such, fantasy managers likely won't have full clarity on his status until Denver's inactives list is released roughly 90 minutes ahead of Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff. In the event that Williams can't go, Samaje Perine and Jaleel McLaughlin will be in line to lead the Denver backfield.

Saquon Barkley RB | PHI
Giants' Saquon Barkley: Not expected to play
Barkey (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game in Miami, isn't expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Though Barkley was a limited participant in all three of the Giants' practices this week, he looks as though he'll end up missing a third consecutive game while he recovers from a high-ankle sprain. The Giants will officially confirm Barkley's status when the team releases its inactive list approximately 90 minutes before Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff. If Barkley is sidelined as anticipated, Matt Breida would be in store for another turn as the Giants' lead back.

Zack Moss RB | CIN
Colts' Zack Moss: Set to lose work with Taylor back
Moss is expected to see a reduced snap count Sunday against the Titans after Jonathan Taylor (ankle) was activated from the reserve/PUP list Saturday and was signed to a three-year, $42 million contract extension, Nate Atkins and Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star report.
Now healthy following January ankle surgery and having patched up his frosty relationship with ownership and the front office after signing an extension, Taylor is likely to settle back in as the Colts' clear lead back in his season debut Sunday. However, because Taylor hadn't practiced since last December before he returned to the field Wednesday, he could be eased back in with a lighter workload than usual Sunday, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. The prospect of Taylor splitting snaps with Moss to some degree could keep the latter relevant in deeper leagues for Week 5, but expect Moss to eventually move into a smaller secondary role beginning in Week 6 that will significantly limit his value moving forward.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Darrynton Evans: Leaves Dolphins' practice squad
Evans terminated his practice squad contract with the Dolphins on Saturday, making him a free agent, according to the NFL's transaction log.
Evans must not see an opportunity in Miami behind Raheem Mostert, De'Von Achane and Salvon Ahmed, especially with Jeff Wilson also due back from injured reserve. Evans appeared in six games for the Bears last season, rushing 14 times for 64 yards and catching one pass for 33 yards. He'll look for an opportunity elsewhere.

Rhamondre Stevenson RB | NE
Patriots' Rhamondre Stevenson: In line to play Sunday
Stevenson (thigh) is slated to play in Sunday's contest against the Saints, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.
A limited practice participant for the entirety of Week 5 prep, Stevenson appears destined to gut through the thigh injury that's currently affecting him this weekend. Through four games in the current campaign, he's logged between 64 and 74 percent of the offensive plays weekly en route to 72 touches for 251 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD.

Kenyan Drake RB | GB
Ravens' Kenyan Drake: Elevated Saturday
Drake was elevated to Baltimore's 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against Pittsburgh, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Drake's elevation suggests that the Ravens will likely be without running back Justice Hill this coming Sunday. Drake, an eight-year veteran, was active for Baltimore's Week 3 loss to Indianapolis, recording three touches for 31 total yards.
