Prince rushed four times for 14 yards in Sunday's 26-24 preseason loss to the Saints.

Prince entered at tailback after Clyde Edwards-Helaire played Kansas City's first two drives, totaling 22 yards on five touches. After Prince was sidelined, La'Mical Perine handled most of the Chiefs' rushing duties, gaining 24 yards on six carries. With Isiah Pacheco (hand/shoulder), Jerick McKinnon and Edwards-Helaire in tow, Prince's best path to the 53-man roster might be on special teams, but Sunday he gained only 36 yards on his two kickoff returns.

Edwards-Helaire rushed three times for seven yards and caught both of his targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 26-24 preseason loss to the Saints.

Edwards-Helaire started at tailback with Isiah Pacheco (hand/shoulder) sitting out Kansas City's exhibition opener. The 2020 first-round pick garnered all of his touches on Kansas City's first two drives before Deneric Prince got the call, and the rookie UDFA rushed four times for 14 yards. With Jerick McKinnon also on the roster, the defending Super Bowl champs boast a strong stable of running backs heading into the upcoming campaign.

Kamara (suspension) rushed three times for 14 yards and caught both of his targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 26-24 preseason win over the Chiefs.

Kamara racked up five touches as New Orleans' starting offense went 80 yards in 12 plays and scored a touchdown on new quarterback Derek Carr's first drive. The star tailback then handed over backfield duties to Jamaal Williams, who finished with nine carries for 28 yards. Behind Williams, rookie third-rounder Kendre Miller suffered a sprained knee while Kirk Merritt (hamstring) was unavailable, leaving the team with even less depth as it prepares for Kamara's three-game suspension to begin the regular season.

Miller suffered a knee sprain during Sunday's preseason opener against the Chiefs and will undergo imaging to determine the severity, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Per Triplett, Miller was able to walk to the locker room with no noticeable limb after being evaluated in the blue medical tent on the sidelines. However, it appears the rookie running back may still be shut down for a bit. With Alvin Kamara slated to miss the first three regular-season games due to a suspension, the Saints were already heading into 2023 shorthanded at running back, so Miller potentially missing extended time could force their hand.

Goodson was spotted with his right arm in a sling during Sunday's practice, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Goodson left Friday's preseason opener with a shoulder injury, and it appears he'll miss some time. With Lew Nichols (shoulder) also sidelined, Patrick Taylor has a clear path at winning the No. 3 spot behind Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon, though the Packers kept only two running backs on their Week 1 roster last year.

Harris (knee) didn't practice Sunday, but Bills head coach Sean McDermott said the running back is headed in a good direction, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.

Harris continues to battle lingering knee pain, which held him out of Buffalo's preseason opener Saturday, but it doesn't sound like McDermott is too concerned about the running back's availability for Week 1 of the regular season. The 2019 third-round pick opted to join a division rival after spending his first four NFL campaigns in New England, and he's slated for a timeshare with James Cook to start 2023.

Tucker rushed six times for 10 yards and brought in his only target for three yards in the Buccaneers' 27-17 preseason loss to the Steelers on Friday night.

Tucker's final line would have looked much better had his 12-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter not been nullified by a holding penalty. The undrafted rookie struggled for running room overall, unsurprising given the quality of the offensive line he played behind. Tucker is still firmly behind the top trio of Rachaad White, Chase Edmonds and Ke'Shawn Vaughn on the running back depth chart, but considering his intriguing body of work at the college level, he's likely to get a solid amount of snaps again in Saturday night's second preseason game against the Jets.

Dowdle carried the ball six times for 21 yards and caught all three of his targets for 33 yards in Saturday's 28-23 preseason loss to the Jaguars.

Deuce Vaughn was the star of the Cowboys backfield Saturday, but Dowdle outproduced presumed No. 2 RB Malik Davis, who got the start but managed only 22 yards from scrimmage on eight touches. Unfortunately, Dowdle also committed a crucial fumble just outside Jacksonville's end zone at the end of the first quarter after catching a short pass from Cooper Rush. The battle for backup snaps behind Tony Pollard (ankle) remains open, but Dowdle likely can't afford many more big mistakes if he wants to stay in the mix.

Murray carried five times for 18 yards and caught all three targets for 21 yards in Buffalo's preseason win over the Colts on Saturday.

Murray has been in the league since 2014 and is the league's fourth-leading career rusher among active players, so it's not like he needs a ton of work to be ready for another campaign. However, with Damien Harris out with a knee injury, Murray has a chance to state his case for a more meaningful role for the start of the season, and perhaps a clear-cut No. 2 role if Harris' injury lingers. James Cook looks like the starter, but this is a high-powered offense and one that has historically rotated running backs, so Murray's preseason usage and output is worth monitoring. Murray also appears to have a roster spot locked up following the season-ending, off-field injury to teammate Nyheim Hines (knee).

Kamara (suspension) and the rest of the Saints' healthy offensive starters are expected to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.

Kamara was suspended for the first three games of the 2023 regular season due to his role in a February 2022 incident in Las Vegas, but that won't prevent him from getting in some preseason work. While the superstar running back likely will be available, he'll presumably play only a series or two.
