James Robinson RB | NO
Jaguars' James Robinson: Likely not ready for training camp
Robinson (Achilles) remains in his recovery mode and isn't expected to be ready for the start of training camp in late July, John Reid of the Florida Times-Union reports.
The 23-year-old began running in his rehab program in mid-June, but it's unclear what kind of progress he's made over the past week. Robinson likely won't be ready for the start of training camp in a month, but he'll still have six more weeks to get healthy before Jacksonville's season opener Sept. 11. Even if he's cleared for Week 1, Robinson could have a limited workload early in the season. Regardless, Travis Etienne is likely to begin the season as the Jaguars' No. 1 tailback.

Kenyan Drake RB | GB
Raiders' Kenyan Drake: Held out of minicamp
Drake (ankle) didn't practice during June minicamp, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Drake broke his ankle in early December and had surgery a few days later, finishing with 545 total yards over 12 games in the first season of a two-year, $11 million contract with the Raiders. It's unclear if he'll have a role under the new coaching staff led by Josh McDaniels, but an injury guarantee on his 2022 base salary means Las Vegas doesn't have a financial motive to release the 28-year-old running back, incentivizing them to at least give him another look once he's available for practice. It remains to be seen if Drake will be ready for the start of training camp in late July. Josh Jacobs (undisclosed) also missed minicamp, either with a minor injury or as a precaution against one, leaving Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah and rookie fourth-round pick Zamir White as the top RBs.

Jermar Jefferson RB | MIN
Lions' Jermar Jefferson: Needs to improve on special teams
Jefferson could see more playing time this season if he can improve on special teams, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Jefferson averaged over 19 carries per game over three seasons as the offensive centerpiece at Oregon State from 2018 to 2020, but he barely saw the field for the Lions as a rookie. Meanwhile, converted safety Godwin Igwebuike was active every week due to his special-teams contributions and Craig Reynolds eventually worked his way up the depth chart as well. Jefferson ultimately seems to have an uphill battle for a roster spot, but it is nonetheless worth tracking the No. 3 running back job in Detroit considering the coaching staff was willing to give Reynolds 26 carries during a game that D'Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams both missed last season.

Josh Jacobs RB | GB
Raiders' Josh Jacobs: Non-participant at minicamp
Jacobs was held out of practices at June minicamp due to an undisclosed injury, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
With no report of offseason surgery or a major injury, Jacobs seemingly has a good chance to be ready for the start of training camp in late July. He's entering the fourth and final season of his rookie contract after the Raiders declined to pick up his fifth-year option for $8.03 million. Between that and the presence of a new coaching staff, Jacobs won't automatically have the same role as in past seasons, though it helps his cause to have modest competition for early down snaps -- namely 28-year-old Kenyan Drake (coming back from a major ankle injury) and fourth-round rookie Zamir White. For passing situations, the Raiders have a few more options, with Jacobs and Drake joined by offseason signees Ameer Abdullah and Brandon Bolden.

Gus Edwards RB | LAC
Ravens' Gus Edwards: Could be ready for camp?
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Edwards (knee) and fellow running back J.K. Dobbins (knee) both have "a chance" to be ready for the start of training camp, Sarah Ellison of the Ravens' official site reports.
Harbaugh said both backs are on track with rehabbing ACL tears, making him "hopeful" they'll be available Week 1. It's actually Edwards who has the better chance to meet that goal, despite suffering his injury two weeks later, as Dobbins' ACL tear was accompanied by LCL damage. If neither is ready for the start of camp, Mike Davis could get work with the first-team offense.

J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN
Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Not ruled out for camp
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Dobbins (knee) and fellow running back Gus Edwards (knee) have "a chance" to be ready for the start of training camp, though the coach is "more hopeful" for the beginning of the regular season, Sarah Ellison of the Ravens' official site reports.
Also mentioned in the same group by Harbaugh was LT Ronnie Stanley, who missed most of the past two seasons after breaking his ankle. Dobbins suffered an even more serious injury, with his ACL tear in August accompanied by LCL damage. Harbaugh said all three players are on schedule in their respective rehab processes, but that could put Dobbins behind the others nonetheless, as Edwards suffered his ACL tear just two weeks later with no reported damage to other ligaments.

Scottie Phillips RB | HOU
Scottie Phillips: Waived from IR
Phillips (ankle) was waived from the reserve/injured list Thursday.
Phillips initially reverted to injured reserve in early May, but he'll be free to seek out other opportunities ahead of training camp. However, the running back hasn't played since Week 9 of the 2021 season due to his ankle injury, and it's not yet clear when he'll be able to return to the field.

Ezekiel Elliott RB | LAC
Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott: Fully healthy ahead of camp
Elliott has no injury concerns ahead of training camp, Clarence Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
"I think the biggest thing with Zeke is he's completely healthy now and he's had a tremendous offseason," Dallas head coach Mike McCarthy said Thursday. "The weight that he has been pushing in the weight room, just the numbers that he's been cranking out have been very, very impressive. I can't tell you it's been the best of his career, but he's in top shape. So, I think he's definitely set himself up for [a strong season]." Elliott played last season with a torn ligament in his knee but still ran for 1,002 rushing yards and 10 TDs, and if he's 100 percent in 2022 it should only improve his performance. The 26-year-old is closing in on 2,000 touches for his career, however, so while being in great shape during the offseason is preferable to the alternative, there's no guarantee he'll stay that way through a 17-game schedule.

Jeremy McNichols RB | WAS
Jeremy McNichols: Let go Thursday
McNichols was released by the Falcons on Thursday.
The 5-foot-9 running back was dropped along with receiver Austin Trammell in corresponding moves to make room for the additions of offensive lineman Jonotthan Harrison and defensive lineman Jalen Dalton. McNichols spent the past two seasons playing for Tennessee, accumulating 655 yards on 116 total touches over 30 regular-season games during that span.

Raheem Mostert RB | LV
Dolphins' Raheem Mostert: Close to full health
Mostert (knee) announced Wednesday via his personal Twitter account that he's "close to 100 percent" healthy.
Mostert also wrote that his "rehab is going great." While the veteran running back hasn't been a participant in the Dolphins' offseason program, he appears close to a return to on-field work. If Mostert is available for the start of training camp in late July, it would be an encouraging sign for his health, but an exact timetable for him to participate fully with the Dolphins isn't known. In any case, once Mostert is fully recovered from the surgery he underwent to address chipped cartilage in his left knee, he'll join Chase Edmonds and Sony Michel in Miami's revamped running back room.
