Top J.K. Dobbins News

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Prioritized in free agency

Broncos coach Sean Payton said last week that Dobbins was "a priority ahead of all others" this offseason, Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com reports.

Payton went on to describe Dobbins as a "compound multiplier" who "brings 10 others along with him in positive light." The glowing comments came three weeks after Denver re-signed Dobbins to a two-year, $16 million contract. It's essentially a one-year deal, with $8 million guaranteed this year and then a team option for around $8 million in 2027. Broncos GM George Paton said last week that Dobbins has made a full recovery from his season-ending foot injury, noting that the RB might've even played in the Super Bowl if Denver had made it, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports. Dobbins and RJ Harvey figure to get most of the first-team backfield reps this spring, with Dobbins the current favorite to start Week 1.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Staying in Denver for two years

Dobbins (foot) is re-signing with the Broncos, Chris Tomasson of the Denver Gazette reports. It will be a two-year contract for Dobbins, per Mike Klis of 9 News Denver.

It's no surprise Dobbins has chosen to return to the Broncos considering he expressed his desire to do so at his end-of-season press conference in January, describing himself as "a Bronco," per Luka Evans of the Denver Post. Dobbins has recovered from the foot injury that kept him out after Week 10 of the 2025 regular season. Prior to that point, Dobbins rushed for 772 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He'll likely return to a backfield split with 2025 second-round pick RJ Harvey moving forward.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Season cut short by foot injury

Dobbins (foot) ended the 2025 campaign with 153 carries for 772 yards and four touchdowns, adding 11 receptions (on 14 targets) for 37 yards across 10 regular-season games.

Dobbins ended up leading the Broncos in rushing yards despite missing the final seven games of the regular season. The 27-year-old running back had a strong start to his sixth season, as he handled the majority of touches out of the backfield ahead of rookie RJ Harvey, Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin. A foot injury suffered Week 10 required surgery, forcing him to miss the remainder of the campaign. Though Dobbins proved to be a good signing when he was on the field, his issues with durability remain a concern. The veteran resumed practicing in a limited fashion ahead of Denver's AFC Championship Game loss to the Patriots, but he was ultimately not quite ready to play. It appears he's on the right track in his recovery, boding well for his ability to be ready for next season. However, where he'll be playing remains a mystery, as Dobbins will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after signing a one-year deal with the Broncos last June. If the Ohio State product returns to Denver, he'd likely split time with Harvey, whose development after Dobbins went down should earn him consistent playing time in his sophomore season. When he's healthy, Dobbins figures to draw attention from several running back-needy teams around the league.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Won't play Sunday

Dobbins (foot) won't play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots.

Dobbins, who last saw game action in Week 10 when he sustained a foot injury that required surgery, has been able to practice in a limited fashion this week, but he's not quite ready to return to action. In his continued absence, RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie will handle the Broncos' RB duties this weekend. Dobbins' next chance to suit up would occur in the event that Denver advances to Super Bowl LX, which will take place Feb. 8.

  • Broncos' J.K. Dobbins: Another limited session

Dobbins (foot) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.

Since Denver designated Dobbins to return from injured reserve Monday, he's put together back-to-back capped sessions as he seeks his first game action since Week 10, when he sustained a foot injury that required surgery. Friday's practice report will be telling for his odds to play in Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Patriots, especially if he's listed as questionable. If that occurs, the Broncos would need to activate him from IR by Saturday afternoon in order for him to have a chance to rejoin RJ Harvey, Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie in the backfield this weekend.
