Devin Singletary RB | NYG
Bills' Devin Singletary: First on depth chart
Singletary is currently listed as the No. 1 running back on Buffalo's unofficial depth chart.
Singletary's placement atop the depth chart is expected, given that he has more NFL experience and is currently healthier than Zack Moss (hamstring). Nonetheless, the news is a good reminder that Singletary has engendered some positive vibes this summer, while Moss continues to struggle on the health front. Of course, Singletary simply doesn't have the size or speed in hitting the hole to be much of a goal-line factor in any scenario, so the best hope for his fantasy outlook is that he earns as large of a share of the carries as possible while maintaining a role in the passing game.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Titans' Darrynton Evans: Getting starting nod Friday
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel relayed Wednesday that Evans will start Friday's preseason contest in Atlanta, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
With Derrick Henry not needing many, if any, preseason touches, Evans and the rest of the Titans backfield are poised for plenty of work in the team's three exhibitions. As a rookie third-rounder last season, Evans battled injuries and fumbles, averaging just 3.9 yards on 14 carries and hauling in two of four targets for 27 yards and one touchdown in five appearances.

J.J. Taylor RB | HOU
Patriots' J.J. Taylor: Could be busy Thursday
Taylor could log plenty of second-half snaps for the Patriots during Thursday's preseason opener versus Washington, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
While roster locks like Damien Harris and James White are expected to have their preseason reps limited, Taylor is fighting for depth chart slotting with Sony Michel, rookie Rhamondre Stevenson and special teams ace Brandon Bolden. The second-year back out of Arizona thus figures to see his share of touches during New England's exhibition slate, as he tries to secure a change-of-pace role heading in Week 1.

Javon Leake RB | DET
Lions' Javon Leake: Signs with Detroit
Leake signed with the Lions on Wednesday.
Leake was let go by Washington in early April, but he'll serve as depth in the Lions' backfield after Michael Warren (undisclosed) was waived/injured Wednesday. The 23-year-old spent most of the 2020 campaign on Washington's practice squad, and he's a long shot to make the Lions' 53-man roster in 2021.

Zack Moss RB | CIN
Bills' Zack Moss: Out with hamstring injury
Moss (hamstring) won't practice Wednesday, with head coach Sean McDermott saying the Bills will go "one day at a time" with the running back's injury, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Moss missed spring practices after having ankle surgery in January, but he returned for training camp without incident until an early exit from Tuesday's practice. In his absence, Devin Singletary could take on a larger share of the first-team reps, with Matt Breida and/or Antonio Williams mixing in. Come Week 1, the Bills are expected to have Moss and Singletary split work -- assuming both are healthy -- though it won't necessarily be the approximate 50-50 split they used for much of last season.

Darrynton Evans RB | BUF
Titans' Darrynton Evans: Getting heavy workload
Evans has adjusted well to new wrinkles in the offense and has carried a big workload in camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Evans was listed as the co-No. 2 running back on the team's initial depth chart. That was a strong vote of confidence for the second-year back and this report only reinforces that placement. Evans may find it difficult to fully surpass Brian Hill on the depth chart early on in the season, though he could be in a position to get some work behind Derrick Henry -- particularly in the passing game.

Rashaad Penny RB | CAR
Seahawks' Rashaad Penny: Still in recovery mode
Coach Pete Carroll said, "we'll see," regarding Penny (thigh) rejoining his healthy teammates this week, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Penny initially was sidelined Sunday due to what was considered a "minor" thigh injury, which has sidelined him in the interim. Based off Carroll's own words, Penny likely doesn't have a great chance to play in Saturday's preseason opener at Las Vegas. Fortunately, if he's able to return to the field sooner than later, Penny will have two more exhibitions in which to be a part of the Seahawks backfield. On a sour note, though, his continued bouts with health concerns make him less than trustworthy as a fantasy asset. Chris Carson is the clear-cut top RB in Seattle, leaving Penny in competition with Travis Homer (PUP, calf), DeeJay Dallas and perhaps even Alex Collins for slotting on the depth chart.

Zack Moss RB | CIN
Bills' Zack Moss: Picks up new injury
Moss exited Tuesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Moss spent the offseason in recovery mode from a left ankle injury suffered in the Bills' divisional-round win against the Colts that required surgery in mid-January. He opened training camp as a limited practice participant, but he quickly was handling every rep and mentioned that he had cleared the mental aspect of running on the ankle in question. Now, Moss is tending to a new injury, which could impact his availability for Friday's preseason game at Detroit. The situation also may allow Devin Singletary to get a leg up in Buffalo's backfield competition.

Najee Harris RB | NYG
Steelers' Najee Harris: To get significant work Thursday
Coach Mike Tomlin noted Tuesday that he won't cap Harris' reps during Thursday's preseason contest at Philadelphia, Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Harris saw the field for the Steelers' first three possessions of last Thursday's Hall of Fame Game, earning 18 of a possible 19 snaps. While his final line looks somewhat pedestrian -- seven carries for 22 yards and one catch (on one target) for three yards -- it's a bit more respectable when discounting a rush of minus-four yards on his second-to-last touch (4.3 yards on the other six carries). It remains to be seen what exactly Tomlin means when he says he "has no plans to hold Harris back," but two quarters of work seems like a reasonable expectation.

J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN
Ravens' J.K. Dobbins: Gets co-starter tag for preseason opener
Dobbins is listed as a co-starter alongside Gus Edwards for the Ravens' preseason opener against the Saints.
The expectation throughout the offseason has been that Dobbins would be the clear-cut lead back for the Ravens, but this depth chart puts that into some question. Edwards was extended during the offseason and has had a significant role in the offense that will not simply disappear. Dobbins still projects to be the starter and the No. 1, and it's important to note that this is merely a preseason depth chart. That said, Edwards' usage must be seriously considered when analyzing Dobbins' workload for the upcoming season.
