Breece Hall RB | NYJ
Jets' Breece Hall: Modest production in Week 2 loss
Hall rushed 10 times for 29 yards and caught two of three targets for nine yards in Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Bills.
Hall finished second on the team in both rushing yards and receiving yards, as Garrett Wilson (50) was the only Jet to reach double digits in the latter category. Justin Fields couldn't get anything going through the air prior to sustaining a concussion in the fourth quarter, and the lack of any passing threat made it hard for Hall to find any holes against a front-loaded Bills defense. Backup Braelon Allen handled just two carries, so at least Hall's locked in as the lead back heading into a Week 3 trip to Tampa Bay.

James Cook RB | BUF
Bills' James Cook: Two TDs in Week 2 win
Cook rushed 21 times for 132 yards and two touchdowns while catching his only target for three yards in Sunday's 30-10 win over the Jets.
Cook once again operated as the clear lead back, as Ray Davis and Ty Johnson combined for just 30 scrimmage yards, with most of the backups' opportunities coming after the game was well in hand. Buffalo capitalized on a drive-extending roughing the passer penalty to open the scoring with a one-yard Cook rushing touchdown, and he added a 44-yard touchdown run in the second quarter to extend the lead to 20-0. Cook's versatile skill set allows him to stay heavily involved regardless of game script, and he has three total touchdowns heading into Thursday's Week 3 home game against the 0-2 Dolphins after racking up 18 scrimmage TDs in the 2024 regular season.

Elijah Mitchell RB | KC
Chiefs' Elijah Mitchell: Won't play versus Eagles
Mitchell (coach's decision) has been ruled out for Kansas City's matchup versus the Eagles on Sunday.
Mitchell will now be a healthy scratch for the second straight week as the Chiefs will once again only use three running backs. His next chance to play will be the team's Week 3 matchup versus the Giants next Sunday.

Tyler Goodson RB | IND
Colts' Tyler Goodson: Remains inactive Sunday
Goodson (elbow) is inactive for Sunday's Week 2 game against the Broncos.
The reserve running back will sit out for the second time in as many games to open the season due to his elbow issue, despite managing to work back to a full practice Friday. In Goodson's ongoing absence, rookie fifth-round pick DJ Giddens, who recorded 12 carries for 41 yards in the Week 1 win over the Dolphins, once again will operate as the No. 2 back behind Jonathan Taylor. Meanwhile, Goodson will turn his attention to garnering active status for the first time this season in next Sunday's road matchup against the Titans.

Jaleel McLaughlin RB | DEN
Broncos' Jaleel McLaughlin: Healthy scratch again
McLaughlin (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Colts, Aric DiLalla of the Broncos' official site reports.
McLaughlin will be a healthy inactive for a second consecutive week, and his next opportunity to make his 2025 debut will be Week 3 against the Chargers on Sunday, Sept. 21. McLaughlin is stuck as the Broncos' fourth-string running back behind J.K. Dobbins, RJ Harvey and Tyler Badie.

Rasheen Ali RB | BAL
Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Not returning Sunday
Ali (concussion) is out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Browns, Brian Wacker of The Baltimore Sun reports.
The running back and special-teams asset was evaluated for a possible concussion during the first quarter. Ali recorded one solo tackle before exiting. Justice Hill is next in line to take over his kickoff-return duties.

Rasheen Ali RB | BAL
Ravens' Rasheen Ali: Might have concussion
Ali is getting evaluated for a possible concussion during Baltimore's matchup with Cleveland on Sunday.
The running back and special-teamer exited in the first quarter, but he did record a solo tackle before leaving the contest. Ali finished with 167 kickoff-return yards in the Ravens' 41-40 loss to the Bills in Week 1, and in his absence, Justice Hill might be next in line to return kicks.

Jordan James RB | SF
49ers' Jordan James: Healthy scratch vs. NOLA
James (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
The rookie fifth-rounder broke his finger in early August and was not cleared to play against the Seahawks in Week 1. James was able to fade an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game after logging a full practice Friday, but he'll observe the contest in street clothes while the 49ers roll with a three-man backfield of Brian Robinson, Isaac Guerendo and starter Christian McCaffrey. James' next chance to make his NFL regular-season debut is Week 3 against the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 21.

Sione Vaki RB | DET
Lions' Sione Vaki: Inactive for Week 2
Vaki (hamstring) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bears.
The running back was listed as doubtful for the matchup after missing Week 1 with the same injury. Vaki played mostly as a special teamer in 2024, as Detroit's crowded backfield of Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery and Craig Reynolds made it hard to get offensive snaps. The second-year pro is in line for a similar role once he returns.
-
Raheim Sanders RB | CLE
Browns' Raheim Sanders: Sitting out in Week 2
Sanders (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Sanders suited up as the Browns' No. 3 running back in the team's 17-16 loss to the Bengals in the season opener and was able to make an impact in his limited snaps, finishing with three yards and a touchdown on three carries. However, with rookie second-round pick Quinshon Judkins (not injury related) having been reinstated from the commissioner's exempt list and added back to the 53-man roster after turning in full practices Thursday and Friday, Sanders will slide to fourth on the depth chart at running back and won't dress Sunday. Unless the Browns lose Judkins, Jerome Ford or Dylan Sampson to an injury in a given week, inactive statuses could start to become the norm for Sanders, an undrafted rookie out of South Carolina.
