  • Chuba Hubbard RB | CAR

Panthers' Chuba Hubbard: Limited by knee injury

Hubbard practiced in a limited capacity Thursday due to a knee injury.

Hubbard was listed as a non-participant on the Panthers' first Week 17 injury report Wednesday with rest, so it's unclear if his practice restrictions a day later are related to maintenance or indicative of a potential health concern suffered during Thursday's session. Friday's practice report could provide clarity on that front for a running back that's coming off his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the campaign this past Sunday against the Cardinals.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: To be limited Thursday

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Guerendo (foot/hamstring) will be limited at Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

As Shanahan projected Monday, Guerendo is returning to the practice field for the first time since Week 15 prep, which is a good sign after he sat out Week 16 in Miami due to foot and hamstring injuries. If Guerendo is able to make it through the week unscathed and suit up Monday against the Lions, he'd provide a boost for a 49ers backfield that will be without Christian McCaffrey (knee) and Jordan Mason (ankle) in Week 17.

  • J.K. Dobbins RB | DEN

Chargers' J.K. Dobbins: Could return to action Saturday

The Chargers list Dobbins (knee) as questionable for Saturday's game against the Patriots.

Los Angeles has ruled out Gus Edwards (ankle) for Saturday, but Dobbins' potential return would provide a lift to a Chargers backfield that currently has just two healthy options on the 53-man roster (Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins). After being designated for return from injured reserve Monday, Dobbins was listed as a limited participant in the Chargers' first two Week 17 practices before working fully Friday, which represented his first on-field work since suffering an MCL sprain in his left knee during the team's 30-23 loss to the Ravens on Nov. 25. In order to be eligible to play Saturday, the Chargers would first activate Dobbins from IR ahead of Friday's 4 p.m. ET deadline for Week 17 transactions. If added back to the roster, Dobbins would presumably work as the lead option out of the backfield, while Vidal and Haskins remain in their depth roles.

  • Gus Edwards RB | LAC

Chargers' Gus Edwards: Won't play Week 17

The Chargers have ruled Edwards (ankle) out for Saturday's game against the Patriots.

Per Kris Rhim of ESPN.com, head coach Jim Harbaugh said that Edwards emerged from the Chargers' Week 16 win over the Broncos with the ankle injury, then aggravated it in practice earlier this week, causing him to sit out sessions Wednesday and Thursday. Given that Edwards previously missed four games earlier this season while on injured reserve due to another ankle issue, the Chargers' decision to hold him out for Saturday's contest isn't especially surprising. His absence currently leaves Kimani Vidal and Hassan Haskins as the lone healthy options at running back on the active roster, though J.K. Dobbins (knee) -- who is listed as questionable -- could be activated from IR ahead of Saturday's game and settle back in as Los Angeles' lead option out of the backfield.

  • George Holani RB | SEA

Seahawks' George Holani: Signed to Seattle's active roster

The Seahawks signed Holani from the practice squad to the active roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Holani had been elevated from Seattle's practice squad to the active roster for the three-game maximum, and over that span he turned three carries into 10 yards while adding one catch for minus-1 yard. Now that he's on the 53-man roster, Holani will serve as the Seahawks' No. 3 running back behind Zach Charbonnet and Kenny McIntosh due to Kenneth Walker (ankle) being ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Bears.

  • Giants' Tyrone Tracy: No practice Thursday

Tracy (ankle) isn't participating in Thursday's practice, Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record reports.

One day removed from being listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's practice estimate, Tracy remained sidelined due to an ankle issue, giving him just one more chance to mix into drills this week. He aggravated the injury this past Sunday in Atlanta, so his lack of activity so far may be related to maintenance. Nevertheless, how the Giants list Tracy on Friday's injury report may provide insight into his availability for Sunday's game against the Colts. Fellow RB Devin Singletary is on hand in the event Tracy is inhibited or inactive this weekend.

  • Lew Nichols RB | PIT

    Lew Nichols: Back with Philadelphia

The Eagles signed Nichols to the practice squad Thursday.

Nichols spent most of the 2023 regular season on the Eagles' practice squad after being let go with an injury settlement by the Packers in September of 2023. He failed to make Philadelphia's 53-man roster at the end of training camp, but he will join the Eagles' practice squad after spending most of the 2024 campaign without a team. Nichols could be elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Cowboys if third-string running back Will Shipley (concussion) is not cleared to play.

  • Derrick Henry RB | BAL

Ravens' Derrick Henry: Another elite rushing performance

Henry rushed 27 times for 147 yards and a touchdown and brought in both targets for 18 yards in Wednesday's 31-2 win over the Texans.

Just four days after trampling the Steelers defense to the tune of 162 yards, Henry nearly matched the elite output in a victory over another AFC contender. The only true blemish on the bruising veteran's day was the fact he was dropped for a safety early in the second quarter. Otherwise, Henry was brilliant while snapping a four-game touchdown drought and pushing his rushing yardage total up to 1,783 for the season, the second-best mark of his career. He'll have a chance to pile up more yardage in the Ravens' regular-season finale against the Browns.

  • Jaylen Warren RB | PIT

Steelers' Jaylen Warren: Tops century mark in loss

Warren carried the ball 11 times for 71 yards and caught five of six targets for 41 yards in Wednesday's 29-10 loss to Kansas City.

He topped 100 scrimmage yards for the first time this season, but Najee Harris finished with two more totes and three more rushing yards. Warren has seen his workload increase the last two weeks, and while the Steelers lost both games, that can hardly be pinned on the third-year back, who had a first-quarter touchdown run wiped out by a holding penalty Wednesday. Warren will look to wrap up the regular season in style in a Week 18 clash with the Bengals.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Texans' Joe Mixon: Struggles on ground continue

Mixon took nine carries for 26 yards and brought in two of three targets for 13 yards in Wednesday's 31-2 loss to Baltimore.

Mixon's late-season struggles continued with another mediocre rushing line that featured no trips to the end zone. The first-year Texan is averaging a meager 35.3 rushing yards in three games since Houston's Week 14 bye. The 27-year-old currently sits just seven yards shy of recording the fifth 1,000-yard rushing season of his career, and Mixon should easily accomplish that feat in a favorable matchup against Tennessee in Week 18.
