  • 49ers' Ke'Shawn Vaughn: Elevated to active roster

The 49ers elevated Vaughn from the practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at Miami, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Vaughn was elevated from the practice squad for the third week in a row. The fifth-year running back totaled two carries over this span, and, while he didn't see any action on offense last week, he'll likely have to serve as RB3 or RB2 versus the Dolphins. Last week's starter Isaac Guerendo has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, leaving Patrick Taylor and Israel Abanikanda as the top candidates to step up as RB1.

  • Kareem Hunt RB | KC

Chiefs' Kareem Hunt: Far more productive than Pacheco

Hunt had 11 carries for 55 yards and a touchdown while catching two of three targets for 24 yards in Saturday's 27-19 win over the Texans.

Hunt outplayed Isiah Pacheco, who turned nine carries and two targets into just 25 scrimmage yards. The former scored a three-yard touchdown in the second quarter and probably could have scored a 33-yard touchdown on his final carry in the fourth but slid down after 20 yards so Kansas City could run out the clock. Pacheco has struggled in his four games back from a fractured fibula, so Hunt's likely to see significant usage again Wednesday against the Steelers.

  • Chiefs' Isiah Pacheco: Outplayed by Hunt in Week 16

Pacheco had nine carries for 26 yards while catching one of two targets for minus-1 yard in Saturday's 27-19 win over the Texans.

Pacheco got the majority of touches in Kansas City's backfield early on but didn't find much success, so Kareem Hunt got more involved as the game went along. Hunt was far more effective, producing 79 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and three targets. Pacheco's still searching for his first score since Week 1, though a fractured fibula suffered in Week 2 has limited him to only six appearances this season. Hunt and Pacheco will likely continue to split carries against the Steelers on Christmas.

  • Justice Hill RB | BAL

Ravens' Justice Hill: Out due to concusson

Hill has been ruled out during Saturday's contest against the Steelers due to a concussion.

Hill's head hit violently against the ground after he took a tough hit following a 25-yard run in the second quarter. With Keaton Mitchell a healthy inactive, rookie Rasheen Ali is the only other healthy running back behind Derrick Henry.

  • Joe Mixon RB | HOU

Texans' Joe Mixon: Late-season fade continues

Mixon rushed 14 times for 57 yards and caught one of two targets for 14 yards in Saturday's 27-19 loss to the Chiefs.

Kansas City came into Saturday's game having allowed the fewest rushing yards in the NFL to running backs, so Mixon's modest stat line isn't particularly surprising. This game continued an alarming trend, as Mixon has posted 71 total yards or fewer without a touchdown in three of his last four games. Prior to this downturn, he had at least 90 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in seven of eight appearances. Getting back on track won't be easy for the workhorse running back on Christmas against Baltimore's stout run defense.

  • Michael Carter RB | ARI

Cardinals' Michael Carter: Up from practice squad

The Cardinals elevated Carter from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

With Emari Demercado (back) on injured reserve, Trey Benson (ankle) ruled out for Week 16 action and DeeJay Dallas (illness) listed as questionable, there's a chance Carter will serve as the direct backup to James Conner on Sunday at Carolina. Dallas likely will need to be inactive for Carter to get much, if any, run, but he's poised for his first game action of the campaign. In 45 career contests between the Jets and Cardinals, Carter has averaged 4.2 yards on his 291 carries, hauled in 101 of 140 targets for 714 yards and scored eight total touchdowns.

  • Lions' Jermar Jefferson: Up from practice squad for Week 16

Jefferson was elevated from Detroit's practice squad Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears.

Jefferson will provide depth in a Detroit backfield that will be without David Montgomery (knee) for the remainder of the regular season. Jefferson's unlikely to play a significant role behind Jahmyr Gibbs, Craig Reynolds and Sione Vaki.

  • Bears' Darrynton Evans: Signs with Bears off practice squad

Evans signed with Chicago's active roster off the practice squad Saturday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.

Evans is likely to work as Chicago's third-string running back behind D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson on Sunday against the Lions, as Travis Homer (hamstring) is listed as doubtful. A roster spot for Evans opened up when the Bears placed guard Ryan Bates on injured reserve.

  • Alvin Kamara RB | NO

Saints' Alvin Kamara: Won't play Monday

Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Saturday that Kamara (groin) has been ruled out for Monday's game at Green Bay, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.

This comes as no surprise, as Kamara didn't practice during Week 16 prep following comments from Rizzi on Thursday that the running back wasn't likely to suit up. In Kamara's place, Kendre Miller is set to lead the Saints backfield Monday, with Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims available for complementary reps. Kamara's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 29 against the Raiders.

  • Ravens' Keaton Mitchell: Inactive again Week 16

Mitchell (coach's decision) is inactive against the Steelers on Saturday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.

Mitchell will be a healthy scratch for a third consecutive game. Rasheen Ali will join Derrick Henry and Justice Hill to serve as Baltimore's third active running back for Saturday's rivalry game.
