Dalton Schultz TE | HOU
Cowboys' Dalton Schultz: Not playing in Week 3
Schultz (knee) is inactive for Monday's game at the Giants.
Schultz sustained a PCL injury in his right knee near the end of the Cowboys' Week 2 win against the Bengals, which capped him to one limited session (Saturday) during Week 3 prep. While Schultz initially was expected to be a game-time decision, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reported Monday afternoon that the tight end was trending toward an absence. Indeed, Schultz will be sidelined, leaving TE reps to rookie Jake Ferguson, Peyton Hendershot and practice squad call-up Sean McKeon.

Durham Smythe TE | BAL
Dolphins' Durham Smythe: Secures all three targets
Smythe secured all three of his targets for 23 yards during Sunday's 21-19 win over the Bills.
Smythe was more involved as a receiver than Mike Gesicki, who secured his lone target for six yards, but neither tight end was a focal point of Miami's offense in Week 3. Though Gesicki still has big-play upside as he demonstrated Week 2 versus Baltimore, Smythe is best left on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues, except those that have multiple starting spots for tight ends.

Mike Gesicki TE | CIN
Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Barely visible in win over Bills
Gesicki secured his only target for six yards during Sunday's 21-19 win over the Bills.
Gesicki logged a solid Week 2, with four catches for 41 yards and a score versus Baltimore, but in Miami's other two games this season he's combined for just two catches for seven yards. This is an offense that clearly runs through Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle (groin), which leaves Gesicki -- and most of the Dolphins' other offensive playmakers, for that matter -- as risky, boom-or-bust options for fantasy purposes.

Hayden Hurst TE | LAC
Bengals' Hayden Hurst: Still dealing with groin injury
Hurst (groin) was limited on Monday's practice estimate.
Hurst tended to a groin injury during Week 3 prep and entered this past weekend as questionable. He was able to suit up Sunday at the Jets, playing the second-most offensive snaps (26 of 68) among Bengals tight ends behind Mitchell Wilcox (39) and ahead of Devin Asiasi (24). Hurst ended up hauling in one of two targets for seven yards, but his health concern continues to bother him as the team prepares for Thursday's showdown with the Dolphins.

Dalton Schultz TE | HOU
Cowboys' Dalton Schultz: Not expected to play Monday
Schultz (knee) is not expected to play Monday night against the Giants, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Per Fowler, Schultz has been pushing to test the injury out pregame, but it remains unlikely he'll be cleared to play. The tight end suffered a PCL strain last week against the Bengals, so missing a week or two should be expected. If Schultz is indeed sidelined, Jake Ferguson would likely be the Cowboys' top option at TE, while Sean McKeon could also be promoted from the practice squad for added depth.
-
Johnny Mundt TE | PHI
Vikings' Johnny Mundt: Two receptions Sunday
Mundt had two receptions for 23 yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Detroit.
Mundt wasn't on the field as a starter like the previous two games and played fewer snaps than Irv Smith, Jr. (37 to 28). Mundt will remain part of the offense but won't get more than a few targets per game.

David Wells TE | TB
David Wells: Cut loose from practice squad
Wells was cut from the Buccaneers' practice squad Monday.
Wells joined the Buccaneers' practice squad Sept. 14 but will part ways with the organization just under two weeks later. He also spent time with Tennessee's practice squad earlier in the year, so it's possible that he finds an opportunity elsewhere.

Kylen Granson TE | TEN
Colts' Kylen Granson: Just two receptions Sunday
Granson had two receptions for seven yards on two targets in Sunday's win over Kansas City.
After two games, it looked like Granson may emerge as the top tight end in the Colts' passing game and see a larger share of the targets. However, that trend took a step back Week 3. He played fewer snaps (42 to 30) and ran fewer routes (23 to 13) than Mo Alie-Cox, though Granson had more targets (2-1). However, Jelani Woods caught two touchdowns (while running just 12 routes), making him another viable tight end in Indianapolis. The end result is that Granson's role is too small and inconsistent for most fantasy formats.
-
Mo Alie-Cox TE | IND
Colts' Mo Alie-Cox: Just one reception
Alie-Cox had one reception for nine yards on three targets in Sunday's win over Kansas City.
Alie-Cox's role on the offense continues to shrink even though he played the most snaps and ran the most routes of Indy's tight ends (Alie-Cox with 42 snaps compared to 16 for Jelani Woods and 30 for Kylen Granson). He already was splitting time with Granson in terms of targets and routes, but then Woods caught two touchdowns Sunday. Alie-Cox's 6-foot-5 height looked set to make him a primary red-zone target of Matt Ryan, but he may have been supplanted by the 6-foot-7 Woods in that role as well.

Irv Smith TE | HOU
Vikings' Irv Smith: Only two catches in Week 3
Smith caught two of six targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 28-24 win over the Lions.
Smith took a step back after breaking out with five catches and a touchdown Week 2 at Philadelphia. He also had another prominent drop after missing on a long potential touchdown pass that hit him in the hands in that game. Third receiver K.J. Osborn led the way with 73 yards and a touchdown against Detroit, and Smith's role likely will remain inconsistent moving forward in a Minnesota passing game with a lot of mouths to feed.
