  • Robert Tonyan TE | PIT

Packers' Robert Tonyan: Works on side Thursday

Tonyan (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, but he did work without pads and with a trainer on the side, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.

Tonyan seemed to favor his right leg and even left Sunday's loss at Tampa Bay for a spell, but he ended Week 6 with multiple catches (three) for the fourth consecutive contest. While he hasn't joined his teammates in drills this week, he ability to get in some work indicates he may be able to gut out his ankle injury this weekend. Friday's practice report may give a sense of Tonyan's ability to play Sunday in Houston.

  • Logan Thomas TE | SF

Football Team's Logan Thomas: Gets in full practice

Thomas (neck) practiced fully Thursday, Ben Standig of The Athletic reports.

A DNP to kick off Week 7 prep, Thomas bumped all the way up to full capacity within one day, paving the way for him to serve as Washington's No. 1 TE this weekend. He has an exploitable matchup Sunday against a Cowboys defense that has allowed a 74.4 percent catch rate (eighth worst) to opposing tight ends this season.

  • Dawson Knox TE | BUF

Bills' Dawson Knox: Misses Thursday's session

Knox (calf) was unable to practice Thursday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.

Knox was ruled out pretty early ahead of Monday's game against the Chiefs and hasn't been able to practice in any capacity this week. Unless he's able to make a surprise return to practice Friday, expect him to be ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Jets.

  • Jordan Akins TE | JAC

Texans' Jordan Akins: Remains sidelined Thursday

Akins (ankle/concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.

Per Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle, the tight end's concussion symptoms have subsided, but his high ankle sprain remains an issue. Akins will need to return to practice Friday in order to avoid missing a third straight game. In the event that he remains sidelined Sunday against the Packers, Darren Fells will continue to see added targets.

  • Zach Ertz TE | WAS

Eagles' Zach Ertz: Shifts to IR

The Eagles placed Ertz (ankle) on injured reserve Thursday.

Ertz's move to IR comes as little surprise after Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported earlier Thursday that the tight end would be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks with the high left ankle sprain he sustained in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens. With fellow tight end Dallas Goedert (ankle) also likely to be sidelined through the Eagles' Week 9 bye, Richard Rodgers is expected to serve as the top option at the position for Philadelphia's next two games.

  • Dallas Goedert TE | PHI

Eagles' Dallas Goedert: Eyeing Week 10 return

Goedert (ankle) is on track to potentially come off injured reserve Week 10 for the Eagles' game against the Giants on Nov. 15, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

While coach Doug Pederson acknowledged Wednesday that Goedert is progressing well from the fractured left ankle that he sustained Sept. 27, the Eagles have yet to designate him to return from injured reserve. Unless Goedert is cleared to return to practice in the days following Thursday's home game versus the Giants, he likely won't warrant any serious consideration to play in the Eagles' Week 8 matchup with the Cowboys before the team heads into its bye Week 9. Fellow tight end Zach Ertz is also projected to miss 4-to-6 weeks after injuring his ankle last Sunday, which likely leaves Richard Rodgers to serve as the top option at the position for the Eagles' two games before the bye.

  • Zach Ertz TE | WAS

Eagles' Zach Ertz: Updated return timetable

Updating a previous report, Ertz (ankle) is now expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.

Initial estimates on a return from the high-ankle sprain Ertz suffered in Week 6 gave the tight end a 3-to-4 week recovery timetable, but it turns out that may have been a bit too optimistic. It seems he'll be out through the team's Week 9 bye at a minimum, but given this is a contract year for the 29-year-old tight end, Garafolo suggests that Ertz will have little interest in returning early if he's anything less than 100 percent. This means a potentially extended run for Dallas Goedert (ankle) when he returns from the IR, with Richard Rodgers projected to lead the position group until then.

  • Jordan Akins TE | JAC

Texans' Jordan Akins: Ankle is the issue

Akins' concussion symptoms have subsided, and his high-ankle sprain is the reason for him missing Wednesday's practice, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Akins has missed two games due to lingering concussion symptoms and an ankle sprain, both suffered against the Vikings in Week 4. Darren Fells has seen an uptick in snaps while Akins has been sidelined. Prior to the injury, Akins was the lead tight end in terms of snaps and targets.

  • Tyler Kroft TE | MIA

Bills' Tyler Kroft: Low influence in offense

Kroft caught one of two targets for seven yards in Monday's 26-17 loss to the Chiefs.

Kroft played 57 percent of the offensive snaps -- his second-highest share of the season -- with top tight end Dawson Knox out with a calf injury. The increased reps didn't translate into production, however, as Kroft was held to one or zero receptions for the fifth time in six games this season. Knox seems like a decent bet to sit out one more game, so perhaps Kroft can turn the temporary starting role into a touchdown; he previously had two scores in Week 3.

  • Will Dissly TE | LAC

Seahawks' Will Dissly: Limited again Wednesday

Dissly (Achilles) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Limited sessions to begin practice weeks have been the norm for Dissly this season, as the Seahawks look to manage the tight end's workload after he suffered a torn Achilles' tendon in 2019. He should be good to go in Sunday's game versus the Cardinals, filling a depth role behind starter Greg Olsen.
