  • Mason Schreck TE | HOU

Bengals' Mason Schreck: Practicing at training camp

Schreck (knee) was practicing at Bengals' training camp Monday.

Schreck sustained a knee injury in the preseason last year and was subsequently placed on injured reserve, but he's apparently healthy to start 2018 training camp. The 24-year-old will need to make quite an impression in training camp to earn the No. 3 tight end role and a spot on the 53-man roster.

  • MyCole Pruitt TE | PIT

Texans' MyCole Pruitt: Healthy at training camp

Pruitt (calf) was practicing at Texans' training camp Wednesday.

Pruitt missed the final few games of 2018 after landing on injured reserve in December with the calf injury. The 26-year-old was active for only one game with the Texans last season and will have an uphill battle to earn a spot on the team's 53-man roster.

  • Mike Gesicki TE | CIN

Dolphins' Mike Gesicki: Working with starters

Gesicki has been getting more first-team snaps as training camp has progressed, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

A.J. Derby (foot) and MarQueis Gray opened with the starters on the first day of training camp, but it doesn't come as any surprise to see Gesicki working his way into the mix. As rare as it may be for rookie tight ends to have a major impact, the second-round pick doesn't have much standing between him and a starting job in Miami. Salguero expects Gesicki to enter Week 1 atop the depth chart, and Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald also believes the rookie is trending strongly in the right direction. The Dolphins can live with shaky blocking if Gesicki displays reliable hands and route running to go with his excellent height (6-foot-6), speed (4.54 40) and leaping ability (41.5-inch vertical). He has the physical specs of a dominant pass-catching tight end, with his incredible showing at the combine backed by 105 catches for 1,252 yards and 14 touchdowns over his final two seasons at Penn State.

  • Hayden Hurst TE | LAC

Ravens' Hayden Hurst: Catches touchdown in preseason debut

Hurst caught three of four targets for 14 yards and a touchdown during Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the Bears.

Hurst looked to have missed a few blocks during his preseason debut, but he more than made up for it with solid route running and soft hands. The highlight of the rookie's night was on a seven-yard scoring strike from fellow first-rounder Lamar Jackson, something Ravens fans hope to be seeing plenty of in the future. Hurst will next take the field in Baltimore's second preseason game next Thursday against the Rams.

  • Gerald Everett TE | CHI

Rams' Gerald Everett: Hampered with shoulder injury

Everett is dealing with a shoulder injury, the severity of which is unknown, Rich Hammond of the Orange County Register reports.

Everett is currently listed as No. 2 on the tight end depth chart behind Tyler Higbee, but could be in for a bigger role this season as he gets more and more used to playing the position at the professional level. Head coach Sean McVay has touted Everett's potential to be an asset in the Rams' offense, so hopefully his shoulder injury isn't of major concern. Everett has over a month to get healthy before regular season play begins.

  • Steelers' Bucky Hodges: Signs with Steelers

Hodges signed a contract with the Steelers on Thursday, Chris Adamski of TribLive.com reports.

Hodges showed promise in college at Virginia Tech, converting to tight end after being recruited as a quarterback. However, he's yet to convert that potential into NFL production. He'll now look to secure a depth and special teams role with Pittsburgh in 2018.

  • Je'Ron Hamm TE | IND

    Je'Ron Hamm: Waived by Seahawks

Hamm was waived by the Seahawks on Thursday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Hamm's time with Seattle comes to an end just over a week after it started. The tight end hasn't played in a regular-season game, but he'll now look to earn a role with another club in 2018.

  • Logan Thomas TE | SF

Bills' Logan Thomas: Sporting non-contact jersey

Thomas (shoulder) is practicing in a non-contact jersey, Heather Prusak of NBC 2 WGRZ reports.

Thomas hurt his shoulder during the opening days of training camp. The nature of the injury isn't clear, and there's no timeline for his return to full participation.

  • Shane Wimann TE | NE

Patriots' Shane Wimann: Lands on IR

Wimann (undisclosed) cleared waivers and reverted to injured reserve, per the league's official transaction log.

Wimann signed with New England after going undrafted out of Northern Illinois this offseason. Barring an injury settlement, the rookie is likely stuck on IR through the end of the league year.

  • A.J. Derby TE | MIA

    Dolphins' A.J. Derby: Considered day-to-day

Derby (foot) is not practicing Wednesday and is considered day-to-day, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Though Derby's injury doesn't seem serious, time spent sidelined during training camp doesn't help the tight end's chances of securing a roster spot. The 26-year-old faces competition from rookies Mike Gesicki and Durham Smythe, in addition to veteran blocking specialist MarQueis Gray. Derby logged snaps with the first-team offense prior to his injury, and will attempt to get healthy and pick up where he left off.
