  • Jaylon Moore WR | JAC

Jaylon Moore: Joins Jacksonville's practice squad

The Jaguars signed Moore to their practice squad Sunday, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

Moore was waived by the Giants ahead of the initial 53-man roster deadline but re-signed with the team via a practice-squad deal. However, he was cut from New York's practice squad just one day later. He's found a new home in Jacksonville but is still looking to make his NFL debut.

  • Bills' Isaiah McKenzie: Set to return to practice

McKenzie (undisclosed) will return to practice Sunday, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.

Coach Sean McDermott says his slot receiver has been "nicked up," so while he's not out of the woods yet, this bodes well for his chances of playing in Thursday's season-opening game against the Rams. When healthy, McKenzie is expected to be the team's top slot receiver, though Jamison Crowder is also likely to have some role in the offense.

  • Russell Gage WR | SF

Buccaneers' Russell Gage: Trending up for Week 1

Gage (leg) was able to return to practice this past week, leaving him on track to be available for the Week 1 matchup against the Cowboys, the team's official site reports. "He's getting better and better every day," head coach Todd Bowles said. "We expect him to be on track to play and trending in the right direction."

The offseason acquisition has been sidelined for multiple weeks, but he appears to finally be past his physical issues. Gage reported feeling very good following Thursday's practice, and if he's available Week 1 as increasingly expected, it would help alleviate the potential absence of Chris Godwin (knee) in that contest.

  • Buccaneers' Breshad Perriman: Set as No. 7 wideout

Perriman made the final 53-man roster as the No. 7 wideout, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

The veteran wideout certainly didn't have the most scintillating of preseasons, with a leg injury knocking him out of action for multiple practices and the first two exhibition games. However, Perriman's experience with Tom Brady and the fact he is capable of playing on special teams, which he'll likely have to do whenever he's active, seems to have helped him lock in his spot for the time being. Perriman will have an uphill battle for any meaningful playing time unless multiple injuries strike the Buccaneers' receiving corps considering how far down the depth chart he slots.

  • Lions' Jameson Williams: No timetable for return

General manager Brad Holmes hasn't offered a timetable for Williams' (knee) return to game action, Benjamin Raven of MLive.com reports. "You got to be a little bit conservative and on the safer side when it comes to forecasts and those returns to play. But hopefully, he stays on track, and hopefully it's sooner than later, but we're going to continue to be smart with him," Holmes said.

After tearing his ACL last January during the National Championship Game, Williams has progressed well in his recovery and recently posted a video of himself running and cutting on a turf field, per Williams' Instagram account via Vox Media. However, even though it looks like the rookie is getting close to being ready, Williams will spend at least the first four games of the season on the NFI list, and it seems like Detroit is prepared to hold him out longer if need be. With DJ Chark and Amon-Ra St. Brown atop the depth chart with Josh Reynolds, Quintez Cephus and Kalif Raymond providing solid depth behind them, the Lions can afford to do so as long as everyone else stays healthy.

  • Van Jefferson WR | WAS

    Rams' Van Jefferson: Making progress

Coach Sean McVay noted Friday that Jefferson is "making good progress" as he rebounds from a training camp knee procedure, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

McVay added that the Rams are "taking it a day at a time" with regard to Jefferson and his availability for the team's season opener, Thursday against the Bills. Look for added clarity on that front to arrive early next week, once the the team is required to post an official practice/injury report. If Jefferson is sidelined or limited in Week 1, Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell are next up for added WR looks behind Los Angeles' top duo of Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson.

  • Chris Conley WR | SF

Chris Conley: Let go by Texans

    The Texans have released Conley.

In a corresponding move, the Texans signed tight end O.J. Howard. Conley was released by Houston on Tuesday, then re-signed with team Thursday and was let go again Friday. Expect to see the wideout's name pop up once again on the NFL transaction wire in the coming days.

  • Seth Williams: Joins Jaguars' practice squad

The Jaguars signed Williams to their practice squad Friday, John Shipley of SI.com reports.

Williams, who was waived by Denver prior to the NFL's 53-man roster deadline, will now provide added depth for Jacksonville should any of the team's wide receivers miss time. During his rookie campaign, Williams struggled to produce on the stat sheet, as he caught just one pass for 34 yards in two games played.

  • Van Jefferson WR | WAS

Rams' Van Jefferson: Not practicing Friday

Jefferson (knee) wasn't present for the portion of Friday's practice open to the media, Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports.

Jefferson tended to a knee issue during the Rams' Super Bowl run and eventually underwent what was termed a minor knee procedure during the offseason. At the start of training camp, he was deemed "100 percent healthy," according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, but Jefferson needed another surgery shortly thereafter and missed the entire preseason slate. It's worrisome that the third-year pro still isn't able to practice less than a week before the Rams' season opener Thursday against the Bills, but if Jefferson is sidelined to begin the campaign, Ben Skowronek and Tutu Atwell are the next wide receivers up behind the top duo of Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson.

  • Jaylon Moore WR | JAC

Jaylon Moore: Cut from practice squad

The Giants cut Moore from their practice squad Thursday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Per Duggan, the Giants had a large group of players from a variety of positions in for a workout Thursday, and one of them presumably will take Moore's spot on the practice squad. The 25-year-old is still looking to make his NFL debut.
