  • Mack Hollins WR | NE

Raiders' Mack Hollins: Locks down roster spot

Hollins secured a spot Tuesday on the Raiders' initial 53-man roster, Levi Edwards of the team's official site reports.

The Raiders kept Hollins, Tyron Johnson and DJ Turner as reserve options behind starting wideouts Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Based on preseason usage, Hollins could open the season as the No. 3 receiver, though it isn't likely to be a high-volume role in terms of targets, and he might share snaps with Johnson. The Raiders open their season with a road game against the division-rival Chargers on Sept. 11.

  • Quintez Cephus WR | HOU

Lions' Quintez Cephus: Sticks in Detroit

Cephus remains on the Lions' initial 53-man roster following Tuesday's cutdown deadline, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.

The Lions kept only five receivers in the continued absence of rookie first-round pick Jameson Williams (knee), but Cephus will be sticking around despite missing most of the summer with an undisclosed leg injury. However, as nothing more than the No. 4 or 5 receiver in an offense that will feed targets to its starting tight end and running back, Cephus is a much longer shot for fantasy relevance this year than he was out of the gate in 2021.

  • Marcus Kemp WR | WAS

    Marcus Kemp: Secures injury settlement

The Giants released Kemp (hamstring) from IR with an injury settlement Tuesday, Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus reports.

Kemp can now sign with a club this season, once he's returned to full health as per the terms of his injury settlement. The veteran wideout has proven he has the ability to contribute on special teams and has 43 career appearances under his belt.

  • Jontre Kirklin: Parts ways with Cardinals

Arizona waived Kirklin on Tuesday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Kirklin signed with the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent out of LSU back in May, but he couldn't translate his preseason opportunities into a spot on the 53-man roster. The rookie could have a chance of popping back up on the practice squad.

  • Deven Thompkins: Waived by Buccaneers

Tampa Bay waived Thompkins on Tuesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.

Thompkins flashed in the preseason, and though he couldn't land a spot on the initial 53-man roster, he could be a candidate to resurface on the practice squad. The undrafted rookie was prolific in his only full season at Utah State, having racked up 102 receptions for 1,704 yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games as a senior in 2021.

  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

    Cade Johnson: Dismissed by Seattle

The Seahawks waived Johnson on Tuesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Johnson tallied six catches (eight targets) for 75 yards over three preseason games, but that wasn't enough to earn a spot on Seattle's initial 53-man roster. That may, however, have earned Johnson another year on the practice squad.

  • Bo Melton WR | GB

    Bo Melton: Waived by Seattle

The Seahawks waived Melton on Tuesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.

Melton secured seven of 15 targets for 89 yards through three preseason games, and he could be a candidate to resurface on Seattle's practice squad. The rookie seventh-round pick recorded a 4.34 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine.

  • Tay Martin WR | DET

    Tay Martin: Waived by 49ers

The 49ers waived Martin on Tuesday.

Martin joined the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in May following a strong senior season at Oklahoma State. However, he was unable to land a spot as a depth receiver ahead of the 2022 campaign.

  • Britain Covey WR | PHI

Britain Covey: Let go by Eagles

The Eagles waived Covey on Tuesday, Chris McPherson of the Eagles' official site reports.

Covey sustained a hand injury during the Eagles' preseason opener but recovered in time for the next exhibition game. He'll now be forced to seek out other opportunities prior to the regular season.

  • John Hightower WR | LAC

    John Hightower: Waived by Philly

The Eagles waived Hightower on Tuesday, Chris McPherson of the Eagles' official site reports.

Hightower dealt with a groin injury early in training camp and didn't play in the Eagles' preseason opener, but he was on the field for the team's final two exhibition matchups. While the 2020 fifth-rounder seems to have moved past his injury, he was unable to secure a spot on Philadelphia's 53-man roster.
