JuJu Smith-Schuster WR | NYG
Chiefs' JuJu Smith-Schuster: Returns to practice
Smith-Schuster (knee) returned to practice Monday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
His return comes one day after Marquez Valdes-Scantling's, with the Chiefs getting their projected top two receivers back after both missed the preseason finale. The team never expressed much concern over Smith-Schuster's knee injury, and he'll now have two weeks to practice before facing the Cardinals on Sunday, Sept. 11 in KC's regular-season opener.

Drake London WR | ATL
Falcons' Drake London: Not at practice
London (knee) isn't practicing Monday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.
London hasn't practiced since he hurt his knee in Atlanta's first preseason game. He still has two weeks to prepare for the season opener against New Orleans and presumably will need to practice at least one or twice before the game to have a shot at playing.

Ty Montgomery WR | NE
Patriots' Ty Montgomery: Not practicing Monday
Montgomery (ankle) didn't practice Monday, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
Montgomery sustained a right ankle injury during Friday's preseason game versus the Raiders, and there has yet to be a concrete update on the severity of his injury since then. The 29-year-old had been projected to help fill the change-of-pace/pass-catching void created by the retirement of James White, but if he's forced to miss time early on this season, rookie Pierre Strong is a candidate to see increased opportunities in New England's offense, while the team's top early-down options Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson also could see added looks in the passing game in that context.

Jakobi Meyers WR | JAC
Patriots' Jakobi Meyers: At Monday's practice
Meyers (leg) was present for Monday's practice, Zack Cox of NESN.com reports.
The report notes that Meyers, who exited Friday's preseason finale early, was sporting a sleeve on his left leg and appeared to be limited in his participation Monday. While it's possible that Meyers' name appears on the Patriots' Week 1 injury report, the wideout's presence on the field suggests that his regular-season availability is in no danger. Looking ahead, Meyers is slated to maintain a key role in a New England wide receiver corps that also includes newcomer DeVante Parker and returnees Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling WR | LAC
Chiefs' Marquez Valdes-Scantling: Cleared from concussion protocol
Valdes-Scantling no longer is in the concussion protocol and said he'll play Week 1 against the Cardinals, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
The wideout returned to practice Sunday after missing Thursday's preseason game against the Packers, his former team. Valdes-Scantling should be fine for the season opener and likely will get the start and play a majority of snaps on offense.

Javon Wims WR | CAR
Javon Wims: Released by Cleveland
The Browns released Wims on Monday.
Wims garnered team highs in targets (nine), receptions (four) and receiving yards (41) during Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, but he finds himself among the first wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. The 2018 seventh-round pick hasn't appeared in an NFL regular-season game since 2020, when he caught six of 12 targets for 48 yards and a score across 13 games with the Bears.

Darius Slayton WR | IND
Giants' Darius Slayton: Center of trade talks
Slayton has been a hot name on the trade market this week, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Slayton has been locked into a deep wide receiver room with the Giants and could end up being dealt ahead of the team's final roster cutdown. The 25-year-old appears to have fallen out of favor in New York and if he is waived or traded, the team would gain $2.54 million in cap space.

Kadarius Toney WR | CLE
Giants' Kadarius Toney: Hopeful for season opener
Coach Brian Daboll said Monday he's "hopeful" Toney (leg) will be available for Sept. 11's regular-season opener against the Titans, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Toney continues to work his way back from a right leg injury that has plagued him throughout the preseason. The 2021 first-round pick also is coming off offseason knee surgery, but his current issue doesn't appear related to that procedure. If Toney is cleared to suit up Week 1 at Tennessee he'll stand to handle a starting role alongside Kenny Golladay and Wan'Dale Robinson, but it looks like he can't be considered a lock for the season opener quite yet. Toney has roughly two weeks to get healthy before the Giants will need to make a decision about his status.
-
Keelan Doss WR | LV
Keelan Doss: Waived by Big Blue
The Giants waived Doss on Monday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Doss played 29 offensive snaps during the team's preseason finale and caught his only target for nine yards. The undrafted wideout out of UC Davis hasn't appeared in an NFL regular-season game since 2020 and hasn't caught a pass since 2019, when he reeled in 11 passes for 133 yards over eight games with the Raiders.

Garrett Wilson WR | NYJ
Jets' Garrett Wilson: Finishes up modest preseason
Wilson caught one of two targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 31-27 preseason win over the Giants.
Wilson didn't have the eye-popping preseason enjoyed by some other rookie wide receivers, but the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft should contribute right away when the games start to count. The Jets' Shanahan-style offensive system requires extreme precision and knowledge of the offense from its receivers, so Wilson likely was focusing more on executing the little details than racking up numbers throughout the preseason.
