Robbie Chosen WR | WAS
Panthers' Robbie Anderson: Back at practice
Anderson (quadriceps/hip) practiced Wednesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Per Darin Gantt of the team's official site, the Panthers are trending toward playing key players in Friday's preseason finale against the Bills. Anderson is thus a candidate to see snaps in the game if he's deemed to be fully healthy.
-
James Proche WR | TEN
Ravens' James Proche: Not practicing yet
Proche (undisclosed) still isn't practicing but caught balls from a JUGS machine Wednesday, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Proche has been touted as one of the Ravens' standout performers through two weeks of training camp, but he's been out since Aug. 9 with an unspecified soft-tissue injury. While likely to miss a third straight preseason game this weekend, Proche seems to at least be eyeing a return to practice in the near future. The missed time could hurt his bid for a Week 1 starting job, though the Ravens still don't have great alternatives beyond Rashod Bateman. Behind Bateman, Devin Duvernay and Proche are the best bets for snaps and targets early in the season.
-
Josh Palmer WR | BUF
Chargers' Joshua Palmer: Clears protocol
Palmer cleared the concussion protocol Wednesday, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Palmer entered the protocol after catching three passes for 75 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys. The effort presumably helped his bid to become the Chargers' clear No. 3 receiver, a role he and Jalen Guyton essentially shared in 2021. A few missed practices shouldn't have any affect on their ongoing competition.
-
Elijah Moore WR | PHI
Jets' Elijah Moore: Likely playing this week
Head coach Robert Saleh suggested Moore and other starters will play anywhere from a quarter to a half in Sunday's preseason game against the Giatns, Zach Braziller of the New York Post reports.
It's a chance for Moore to get additional reps with quarterback Joe Flacco, who likely will start Week 1 against Baltimore with Zach Wilson (knee) reportedly facing a recovery timeline around 4-to-6 weeks after Aug. 16 surgery. Moore, Corey Davis and Braxton Berrios have taken most of the first-team reps this summer, but first-round pick Garrett Wilson poses a serious threat to Davis and Berrios, if not Moore.
-
Collin Johnson WR | LV
Giants' Collin Johnson: Injures leg in practice
Johnson suffered an apparent lower-body injury during Wednesday's practice, Connor Hughes of SNY.tv reports.
Johnson reportedly has impressed throughout training camp and caught 10 passes for 123 yards in two preseason games. Initial reports suggest the injury may be serious, but if not, Johnson could have role off the bench Week 1.
-
Cam Sims WR | CAR
Commanders' Cam Sims: Lands in concussion protocol
The Commanders placed Sims in concussion protocol Wednesday, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
It's unclear when Sims suffered the injury, but he's had a strong camp and was expected to be Washington's top wideout behind Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel and rookie Jahan Dotson. It's unlikely Sims suits up for Saturday's preseason finale against the Ravens, but he'll have more than two weeks to be cleared for Week 1 of the regular season.
-
Byron Pringle WR | WAS
Bears' Byron Pringle: Remains sidelined
Pringle (quadriceps) didn't practice Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Pringle has been dealing with the injury for just over two weeks, and his availability for Saturday's preseason finale versus the Browns is still up in the air. The 28-year-old's continued absence from practice could hurt his case for earning a prominent role in the Bears' receiving corps to begin the season.
-
Sterling Shepard WR | NYJ
Giants' Sterling Shepard: Coming off PUP list
The Giants activated Shepard (Achilles) from the PUP list ahead of Wednesday's practice, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
The transaction rules out the possibility of Shepard landing on the reserve/PUP list to start the regular season, which would mean an automatic absence of at least four games. Shepard may or may not be back Week 1, but the Giants apparently think he can be ready at some point in September. His return could affect rookie Wan'Dale Robinson, who has been the No. 3 receiver with the first-team offense throughout training camp and the preseason. Then again, Shepard also has experience lining up on the perimeter, where the Giants face the challenge of keeping Kadarius Toney (leg) and Kenny Golladay healthy and productive.
-
Michael Thomas WR | NO
Saints' Michael Thomas: Misses another practice
Thomas (hamstring) remained sidelined at Wednesday's practice, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Thomas thus appears to be trending toward missing the Saints' preseason finale against the Chargers on Friday. If the starting wideout indeed sits out the contest, his next chance to see game action will arrive Week 1 against the Falcons.
-
Jaylen Waddle WR | DEN
Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Not yet practicing
Waddle (undisclosed) stretched with teammates Wednesday but isn't practicing, Daniel Oyefusi of the Miami Herald reports.
Waddle has now been out for more than a week after initially being deemed day-to-day. Head coach Mike McDaniel said Sunday that he's not worried about Waddle's Week 1 availability, and the second-year wideout still has more than two weeks to recover before the opener against New England.
