Metcalf once again put together a very modest receiving line, but the veteran wideout managed to deliver his first touchdown of the season on a six-yard grab late in the third quarter. Metcalf's high-water mark through three games is the four-catch, 40-yard tally he managed in Week 1 against the Falcons, but with Aaron Rodgers and the passing attack as a whole looking much more cohesive Sunday, there's some hope for an uptick in production during a Week 4 road matchup against the Browns on Thursday night.

I love that Metcalf is getting plenty of targets through the first two games of the season. I hate his production, and he's only worth using in three-receiver leagues. In two games against Atlanta and New England, Metcalf has 19 targets, but he's finished with just eight catches for 67 yards and no touchdowns. We'll see if things change in Week 3 against Cincinnati, but the Bengals have done well so far against Tampa Bay and Houston (without Nico Collins), ranking No. 9 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing receivers. Metcalf also scored 9.9 PPR points or less in two games against Cincinnati last season, combining for eight catches for 99 yards and no touchdowns on 13 targets in those meetings.

Metcalf led the Steelers in targets again but put forth a second consecutive inefficient outing after turning 10 targets into just four catches for 40 yards in the season opener against the Falcons. Rookie second-round pick Germie Bernard led the team with 35 receiving yards Sunday in the absence of Michael Pittman (foot) as Aaron Rodgers threw for just 187 yards on 4.8 yards per pass attempt. Metcalf's heavy volume from Rodgers is encouraging, but Pittsburgh's passing game has underwhelmed as a whole heading into a Week 3 home game against the Bengals.

He should once again be heavily involved in the game plan in Week 2 at New England, but I would only start Metcalf in three-receiver leagues. He could see plenty of cornerback Christian Gonzalez, and I don't expect Metcalf to win many of those battles. Metcalf had three catches for 32 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 3 against the Patriots in 2025, but Gonzalez didn't play in that game.

Metcalf's target total led the Steelers by a fairly comfortable margin, but the talented receiver brought in less than half of them and finished behind both Michael Pittman and Pat Freiermuth in receiving yards. The amount of attention Metcalf drew from Aaron Rodgers was nevertheless encouraging, and the valuable experience the duo garnered from working together all of last season could pay big dividends in 2026. He's expected to play in Week 1, and he should take advantage of this Atlanta defense, which is missing key defensive players in Jalon Walker (knee) and James Pearce Jr. (suspension). The Falcons last year tied for third in most touchdowns allowed to receivers with 20, and Metcalf is worth starting in all three-receiver leagues. I'd be cautious with Pittman this week since he struggled with a hamstring injury and missed several weeks of practice, but he can still be used in deeper, three-receiver formats given the matchup.
