  • Marvin Jones WR | DET

Jaguars' Marvin Jones: Shows connection with Lawrence

Jones recorded three receptions on four targets for 40 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to the Steelers.

Jones showed a strong connection with Trevor Lawrence, tallying receptions of 16, 14 and 10 yards while working with the first-team offense. Saturday's contest marked Jones' first action of the preseason, and he should be in line to serve as an outside receiver for the Jaguars opposite Christian Kirk in Week 1 against the Commanders.

  • Mike Strachan WR | WAS

Colts' Mike Strachan: Three catches in preseason debut

Strachan had three receptions, including a 15-yard touchdown catch, on three targets for 45 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Detroit.

Strachan began training camp on the PUP list after undergoing offseason knee surgery and was activated Monday, so he needed a strong showing. It looks like he's back in the battle with Dezmon Patmon and Keke Coutee for the No. 5 receiver role

  • Dezmon Patmon WR | CAR

Colts' Dezmon Patmon: Breakout preseason game

Patmon notched five receptions, including a 50-yard touchdown catch, on six targets for 103 yards in Saturday's preseason loss to Detroit.

Patmon is competing with Keke Coutee and Mike Strachan for the No. 5 receiver role. Patmon wasn't having a great training camp by many accounts, so this was a needed performance even if mostly in the second half against second- and third-string defenders. The battle for the last wide-receiver roster spots will likely be decided late in camp.

  • Chase Claypool WR | BUF

Steelers' Chase Claypool: Showcases big-play ability

Claypool recorded one reception on one target for 29 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Jaguars.

Claypool won a jump ball for a 29-yard gain on the team's first offensive possession on a pass delivered by Mitch Trubisky. He also appeared to have a 19-yard gain on a pass from Kenny Pickett later in the contest, though the play was canceled out by a penalty. After an uneven second season as a pro, Claypool will look to reassert himself as the Steelers' second receiver behind Diontae Johnson in 2022.

  • Hunter Renfrow WR | CAR

Raiders' Hunter Renfrow: Remains back in Vegas on Saturday

Renfrow (coach's decision) did not make the trip to Miami for the Raiders' 15-13 preseason win over the Dolphins on Saturday night, Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

Renfrow also sat out the Raiders' preseason opener against the Jaguars back on Aug. 4, as well as the victory over the Vikings in the team's second exhibition. Given his importance to the team's air attack and the fact the likes of Derek Carr and Davante Adams also didn't play Saturday night, Renfrow's third consecutive absence isn't overly surprising. Renfrow's final chance to suit up before the regular-season opener against the Chargers comes in Friday night's exhibition finale versus the Patriots.

  • Danny Gray WR | PHI

49ers' Danny Gray: Totals 24 yards in preseason win

Gray recorded two receptions on four targets for 24 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Vikings.

Gray drew the second target of the game for San Francisco and tallied receptions of nine and 15 yards. The rookie third-round pick also converted a two-point conversion to put the 49ers up by seven early in the fourth quarter. Gray should be locked into a roster spot but is fighting for a regular role among the team's receiving corps.

  • K.J. Osborn WR | TEN

Vikings' K.J. Osborn: Doesn't suit up Saturday

Osborn didn't play in Saturday's preseason defeat to the 49ers, Lindsey Young of the Vikings' official site reports.

Osborn joined the Vikings' top two wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Adam Thielen on the sideline. While Jefferson and Thielen also didn't suit up in preseason Week 1 at Las Vegas, Osborn did play, logging eight offensive snaps and catching his only target for 10 yards. The third-year pro has settled into the third receiver role in Minnesota's offense, which may yield more fruit this year under new coach Kevin O'Connell.

  • Titans' Nick Westbrook-Ikhine: One grab in preseason win

Westbrook-Ikhine brought in one of two targets for 21 yards in the Titans' 13-3 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.

Westbrook-Ikhine logged the first target of the game and made good use of it, recording his 21-yard gain in connection with rookie quarterback Malik Willis. The 25-year-old saw a nice boost in production in 2021 thanks to an increase in opportunities due to injuries in the Titans' receiving corps, and he figures to enjoy another solid role this coming season as the likely No. 3 wideout once Robert Woods (knee) and Treylon Burks (lower leg) are at full health.

  • Adam Thielen WR | PIT

Vikings' Adam Thielen: Doesn't play Saturday

Thielen didn't play in Saturday's preseason loss to the 49ers, Lindsey Young of the Vikings' official site reports.

For a second straight exhibition, Thielen remained on the sideline along with fellow wide receiver Justin Jefferson, running back Dalvin Cook and quarterback Kirk Cousins. Thielen understandably has yielded the No. 1 wide receiver gig in Minnesota to Jefferson the last two seasons, but the former remained productive himself, totaling 1,651 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns in 28 games during that span.

  • Vikings' Justin Jefferson: DNP on Saturday

Jefferson didn't play in Saturday's preseason defeat to the 49ers, Lindsey Young of the Vikings' official site reports.

Jefferson is among a number of Vikings starting skill-position players that have yet to suit up during exhibition season (along with quarterback Kirk Cousins, running back Dalvin Cook and fellow wide receiver Adam Thielen). While Jefferson doesn't necessarily need the reps to be ready for the regular season after racking up 3,016 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in his first two pro campaigns, he will have one more chance to make an appearance before Week 1 next Saturday at Denver.
