  • Adam Thielen WR | PIT

Vikings' Adam Thielen: Not in line to suit up Sunday

Thielen isn't in line to play in Sunday's preseason opener against the Raiders.

Thielen, along with Justin Jefferson, will be held out of Sunday's exhibition game. In their absences, expect K.J. Osborn and Ihmir Smith-Marsette to operate as Minnesota's starting wideouts.

  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Gains 21 yards

Johnson caught his lone target for 21 yards in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers. He also returned one kick for 24 yards and one punt for eight yards.

Johnson played 19 offensive snaps, which ranked third among Seahawks receivers behind Dareke Young (43) and Bo Melton (30). There are plenty of question marks in Seattle's receiver room. However, it's encouraging that Johnson is getting chances as a returner.

  • Seahawks' Cody Thompson: Injures shoulder

Thompson left Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers with a shoulder injury, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.

Thompson suffered a shoulder injury early in Saturday's game and only played seven offensive snaps. The 26-year-old receiver spent most of the 2021 season on the practice squad, so he'll need a quick recovery to have a chance at the 53-man roster.

  • Andre Miller WR | GB

Giants' Andre Miller: Watches from sidelines

Miller (wrist) has still not been put on IR and was watching practice Sunday from the sidelines with a cast on, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.

Miller joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Maine, and he quickly asserted himself as a force to make the roster. However, the rookie broke his wrist during practice Monday, derailing his progress. The fact that he hasn't been put on IR, and consequently forced to miss the rest of the season, shows Miller may have already done enough to prove he deserves a spot on the Giants' roster.

  • Penny Hart WR | ATL

Seahawks' Penny Hart: Minimal work in preseason loss

Hart caught both of his targets for three yards in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers.

Hart played 16 offensive snaps and wasn't effective as a pass catcher. Despite Freddie Swain (hamstring) being out, Hart didn't handle any return work, either. The 26-year-old will need a strong ending to the preseason to lock up a roster spot.

  • Isaiah Hodgins WR | NYG

Bills' Isaiah Hodgins: Big game in preseason win

Hodgins caught nine of 11 targets for 77 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Indianapolis.

The Buffalo offense struggled early, but the team moved the ball well once third-stringer Matt Barkley took over at quarterback, at which point Hodgins and rookie teammate Khalil Shakir became the stars. Those two are in a tight competition with several receivers for the final spot or two over the preseason, though the Bills could start the season with six wideouts if players like Hodgins keep making such a strong case for the final roster.

  • Dareke Young WR | LV

Seahawks' Dareke Young: Scores in first NFL game

Young caught four of five targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers. He also rushed once for a one-yard loss.

Young was an interesting prospect as a highly productive Division II player who ran a 4.47 40-yard dash with a 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame. The Seahawks selected him in the seventh round of April's draft. Young played 72 percent of the offensive snaps Saturday, which was more than any other Seahawks receiver by a wide margin. Of course, his high usage was partially because Freddie Swain (back), Dee Eskridge (hamstring) and Marquise Goodwin (hamstring) were all out with injuries while Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf enjoyed the night off. Young still is on the roster bubble, but he'll have two more preseason games to make his final case for a spot on the 53-man roster.

  • Bo Melton WR | GB

Seahawks' Bo Melton: Paces team in receiving yards

Melton caught two of three targets for 47 yards in Saturday's 32-25 preseason loss to the Steelers.

With DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, Freddie Swain (back) and Dee Eskridge (hamstring) sitting out, Melton had a good opportunity to serve as the team's top wide receiver. He played half of the offensive snaps in the exhibition game and led the team in receiving yards. Most of his yardage came on the first play of the second half when he took a short pass from Drew Lock and showcased his speed for a 39-yard gain. Melton is making a strong case for a roster spot and will take this momentum into Thursday's preseason clash against the Bears.

  • Britain Covey WR | PHI

Eagles' Britain Covey: Dealing with injury

Covey will be limited in practice Sunday with a sprained hand, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.

Covey suffered the injury in the Eagles' preseason loss to the Jets on Friday. The undrafted rookie out of Utah has impressed thus far and was even earning some first-team reps in camp. Depending on how long he is out, the unfortunate injury could derail his momentum toward making the roster.

  • Rams' Austin Trammell: Three catches in win

Trammell caught three of four targets for 27 yards during Saturday's 29-22 win over the Chargers.

Trammell, who spent most of his rookie year in 2021 on Atlanta's practice squad, managed to make a modest impact with his three catches but was outshined by undrafted free agent Lance McCutcheon's breakout two-touchdown performance. No other wide receiver recorded a reception, however, giving Trammell some positive momentum over fellow roster bubble wideouts Warren Jackson, Landen Akers and J.J. Koski moving into Friday's second preseason game against the Texans.
