  • Keke Coutee WR | MIA

Texans' Keke Coutee: Opportunity knocks Saturday

Coutee caught two of five targets for 21 yards in Saturday's 26-7 win over Green Bay in preseason Week 1.

Coutee may have caught a big break in his competition for the top spot at slot receiver, as Anthony Miller, his main competitor, suffered what's initially reported to be a "slight dislocation" of the shoulder, per Drew Dougherty of the Texans' official site. Whatever "slight" may mean, Miller could miss practice time and allow Coutee to establish a rapport with presumptive starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

  • Nelson Agholor WR | BAL

Patriots' Nelson Agholor: Returns to field

Agholor (undisclosed) returned to practice Sunday, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.

Reiss notes that Agholor missed the Patriots' preseason opener due to an undisclosed issue that didn't "seem major in scope," and the wideout's return to the field Sunday would seem to put him on track to be available for Thursday's contest against the Eagles. This coming season, Agholor is projected to start in a New England wide receiving corps that also features Jakobi Meyers, Kendrick Bourne and N'Keal Harry.

  • Chris Conley WR | SF

Texans' Chris Conley: Shows chemistry with Taylor

Conley caught all four of his targets for 51 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Packers.

Three of those grabs came on Tyrod Taylor's only series of the night, as the potential Week 1 starter at quarterback made Conley his favorite target during the Texans' opening possession. The 28-year-old landed in Houston on a one-year deal after stints in Kansas City and Jacksonville and has had only intermittent success in his NFL career, but he could be a better fit for a conservative offensive game plan under Taylor than field stretcher Brandin Cooks, the other presumed starting WR for the Texans.

  • Nico Collins WR | HOU

Texans' Nico Collins: One big grab Saturday

Collins caught his only target for 24 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Packers.

The rookie has made a good impression in training camp, but Collins still was treated like a depth option in the preseason opener, making his only grab of the night in the second quarter after the Texans' starters were already long gone. Anthony Miller dislocated his elbow in the game however, sidelining one of his competitors for snaps, and if Collins keeps stacking up good days in practice, the 2021 third-round pick's climb up the depth chart should continue.

  • Curtis Samuel WR | BUF

Football Team's Curtis Samuel: Reinstated from PUP list

Washington activated Samuel (groin) from the PUP list Sunday.

Samuel is now cleared to join Washington for practice after stints on the reserve/COVID-19 list and PUP list delayed his ability to get on the field and build chemistry with the team's quarterback. Even though he's officially been reinstated to the roster, Samuel likely will be brought along slowly this week while he works his way back from the groin issue that also kept him sidelined for mandatory minicamp. At this stage, Samuel may have a tough time gaining clearance for Friday's preseason game versus the Bengals, though he should be ready to play in the team's exhibition finale Aug. 28 versus the Ravens.

  • Ja'Marr Chase WR | CIN

Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase: Makes first grab as Bengal

Chase caught his only target for 16 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Buccaneers.

The fifth overall pick in the 2021 draft hauled in a strike from Brandon Allen on the Bengals' first possession before quickly calling it a night. Expectations are high for Chase this season in no small part due to his familiarity with Joe Burrow -- who didn't play Saturday -- from their time together at LSU, but with the second-year QB unlikely to see extensive preseason action, it might not be until Week 1 that the duo gets to really flash their chemistry.

  • Tutu Atwell WR | LAR

Rams' Tutu Atwell: Pair of grabs in preseason opener

Atwell secured two of four targets for 21 yards and returned a punt for no gain in the Rams' 13-6 preseason loss to the Chargers on Saturday night.

The rookie snared a co-team-high 20-yard reception and tied with several players for third in catches on the night. Atwell is an intriguing but slight speedster that the Rams thought highly enough of to invest a second-round pick in last April, and he'll look to make an impact as a likely No. 5 receiver and special-teams asset this season.

  • Cade Johnson WR | SEA

Seahawks' Cade Johnson: Busy night in preseason loss

Johnson (groin) brought in four of five targets for 25 yards in the Seahawks' 20-7 preseason loss to the Raiders on Saturday night.

The undrafted rookie from South Dakota State paced the Seahawks in receptions and targets on the night in a solid showing. Johnson is clearly past the groin injury that troubled him back in OTAs, and he could be a promising practice-squad candidate or even potential No. 6 receiver if he continues to impress during the final pair of exhibitions.

  • Zay Jones WR | ARI

Raiders' Zay Jones: Paces pass catchers in win

Jones secured all three targets for 57 yards in the Raiders' 20-7 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday night.

With the Raiders' top wideout quartet of Henry Ruggs, Bryan Edwards, Hunter Renfrow and John Brown not making an appearance on the stat sheet, Jones led the way in both receptions and receiving yardage on the night. The veteran is facing a tall task in his quest to end up any better than the No. 5 receiver, especially with offseason signee Willie Snead and the promising Keelan Doss also on the roster.

  • Jerry Jeudy WR | CLE

Broncos' Jerry Jeudy: Three targets in preseason opener

Jeudy recorded one reception on three targets for 33 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings.

Jeudy's first major contribution to the game was getting flagged for holding, which nullified a Javonte Williams touchdown. While he missed out on his first two targets, Jeudy recorded his lone reception over the middle of the field and quickly turned the ball up field for a big gain. Jeudy figures to lose some of his 113 targets from 2020 due to the return of Courtland Sutton (knee), though that could be balanced out by an increase in efficiency as Jeudy enters his second season as a pro.
