  • Chiefs' Xavier Worthy: Returns to limited practice

Worthy (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday.

Worthy's return to practice -- albeit in a limited capacity -- is an encouraging development after the wideout sat out Wednesday's session. Per Nate Taylor of ESPN.com, Worthy -- who sustained a dislocated right shoulder in last Friday's season opener -- sported extra padding on his right arm while working Thursday. Unless Worthy upgrades to full participation Friday, he figures to approach Sunday's game against the Eagles with an injury designation, but it looks like the Chiefs may have the 2024 first-rounder available this weekend after all.

  • Hunter Renfrow WR | CAR

Panthers' Hunter Renfrow: Another limited practice Thursday

Renfrow (ribs) remained limited in practice Thursday.

Renfrow has started Week 2 prep with consecutive limited practices. A full showing Friday would likely help the veteran slot receiver avoid an injury designation for Sunday's game in Arizona. Renfrow turned six targets into only 11 yards in his Panthers debut against the Jaguars in Week 1, as Carolina quarterback Bryce Young struggled.

  • Falcons' Casey Washington: Another DNP on Thursday

Washington (concussion) remained sidelined in practice Thursday, Tori McElhanney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Washington would need to clear the NFL's five-step concussion protocol to have a chance to suit up Sunday night against the Vikings, so he will need to raise his practice participation level Friday to have any chance of playing. Fellow wide receivers Drake London and Darnell Mooney both remained limited Thursday due to their respective shoulder injuries. Even if Washington clears concussion protocol, his role on offense would likely be minimal if London and Mooney both gain clearance to play Sunday.

  • Patriots' Kayshon Boutte: Another limited session

Boutte (shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday.

Boutte also was limited Wednesday, so he'll probably need to upgrade his practice participation Friday in order to avoid an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Dolphins. If he's available this weekend, Boutte should have an opportunity to maintain his key role in New England's offense after compiling a 6-103-0 line on eight targets while logging an 82 percent snap share in his team's Week 1 loss to the Raiders.

  • Jaylen Waddle WR | MIA

Dolphins' Jaylen Waddle: Limited again Thursday

Waddle (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Travis Wingfield of the Dolphins' official site reports.

Waddle has now logged back-to-back limited practices due to a shoulder injury seemingly sustained during Miami's blowout loss to the Colts in Week 1, in which he hauled in four of five targets for 30 yards while playing just 65 percent of offensive snaps. Friday's practice will be his final chance to upgrade to 'full' reps before Sunday's divisional matchup against the Patriots. More snaps and routes will go the way of Malik Washington and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine if Waddle is limited or sidelined Week 2.

  • Xavier Gipson WR | NYG

Giants' Xavier Gipson: Stays in Big Apple with Big Blue

Gipson was claimed off waivers by the Giants on Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Gipson won't have to move after being claimed by the Jets' MetLife Stadium roommates the day after being waived by New York's AFC team. His costly fumble on a kickoff return in Week 1 proved to be the end of the line for Gipson with the Jets, but he has shown some explosiveness in the return game when he holds onto the ball, so the Giants could utilize the 5-foot-9 wide receiver on special teams.

  • 49ers' Jauan Jennings: Idle for another practice

Jennings (shoulder) was spotted working off to the side with a trainer during Thursday's practice, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Jennings looks set to go down as a non-participant for the 49ers' second practice in a row, making his activity in Friday's session critical when it comes to determining his availability for Sunday's game against the Saints. If Jennings is able to play through the injury to his left shoulder this weekend, he'll be on the receiving end of targets from a new quarterback in Mac Jones, who is on track to start Sunday with Brock Purdy (toe/shoulder) likely to be out for the next 2-to-5 weeks.

  • Josh Reynolds WR | NYJ

Jets' Josh Reynolds: DNP due to hamstring Thursday

Reynolds (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

This is a new injury for Reynolds, who played 97 percent of snaps on offense in Week 1 against the Steelers and wasn't on Wednesday's injury report. If Reynolds is unable to play Sunday against the Steelers, that could pave the way for Allen Lazard to make his season debut.

  • Darnell Mooney WR | ATL

Falcons' Darnell Mooney: Stays limited at practice

Mooney (shoulder) was limited in practice Thursday, Tori McElhaney of the Falcons' official site reports.

Mooney now has strung together three straight capped sessions going back to Week 1 prep as he closes in on his recovery from the shoulder issue that has bothered him since late July. Both he and No. 1 WR Drake London (shoulder) have been limited so far this week, so Friday's practice will be key for them to avoid designations in advance of Sunday's game in Minnesota.

  • Texans' Braxton Berrios: Not practicing Thursday

Berrios (hamstring) is not participating in Thursday's practice, Sam Warren of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Berrios' hamstring injury prevented him from suiting up Week 1 against the Rams, and he remains absent from practice heading into Monday's game against the Buccaneers. With Christian Kirk (hamstring) also still not practicing Thursday, the Texans' wide receiver corps could again be notably depleted Week 2.
