Washington was unable to earn a roster spot with Carolina after signing with the team last month but is now set to stick around on the practice squad. With fellow wide receiver Dan Chisena (undisclosed) being placed on injured reserve, Washington will get his chance to contend for a depth role with the 2026 Panthers. The 25-year-old was waived by the Falcons in mid-June, having produced seven receptions for 108 yards over 15 career regular-season games.

After being limited primarily to special-teams work during his 2024 rookie campaign (47 special-teams snaps and nine on offense), Washington logged a career-high 180 offensive snaps in 2025. Washington played just four of the 50 offensive snaps Sunday, his lowest snap total of the season. Despite Drake London (hip) being sidelined for the contest, the 24-year-old Washington was not involved much in what ended up being a surprisingly weak offensive attack against a subpar Dolphins defense. Washington caught three of six targets for 33 yards while playing 95 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps during Week 1. Since then, his role has diminished. He missed Weeks 2 and 3 due to a concussion and caught one of three targets for 19 yards while playing 52 percent of the offensive snaps during his return in Week 4. Coming off a Week 5 bye, Washington saw more playing time in Week 6, likely due to Darnell Mooney (hamstring) being unavailable, and finished second among WRs in snaps behind Drake London. However, Washington finished with a season-low two targets and failed to catch a pass for the first time this season, save for the games he was inactive. As long as Mooney is dealing with an injury, Washington is a candidate for heavy snaps, but he's yet to take advantage of the opportunity.

Washington was unable to get much going in his return from a concussion that sidelined him for the past two games. The second-year wideout played the second-most offensive snaps (34) of any Falcons wideout, behind just Drake London (55) and ahead of Darnell Mooney (29), Ray-Ray McCloud (23) and David Sills (15). Despite the solid playing time in his return, Washington should remain far off the fantasy radar going forward, barring injuries. The Falcons enter their bye week in Week 5 before hosting the Bills in Week 6.
