  • Chris Godwin WR | TB

Buccaneers' Chris Godwin: Passes physical, off PUP list

Godwin (ankle) passed a physical Tuesday, after which the Buccaneers activated him from the active/PUP list, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Godwin suffered a season-ending dislocated left ankle in Week 7 of last season that required surgery. In early March, he inked a three-year, $66 million contract to remain with the Buccaneers, and while there was optimism from coach Todd Bowles during the offseason program that Godwin may be available for the beginning of the 2025 campaign, he opened training camp on active/PUP. Now that he's been cleared to practice, the veteran wideout can return to action as soon as Week 1, although an October return still appears likely, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. By keeping him off the PUP list, which would require a minimum four-game absence, the Bucs are at least keeping open the possibility of a late September return. As long as Godwin remains sidelined, Mike Evans and rookie first-round pick Emeka Egbuka will serve as the team's top two wide receivers with Jalen McMillan out due to a sprained neck.

  • Shedrick Jackson: Cut loose by Las Vegas

Jackson was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday.

Jackson signed a reserve/future contract with Las Vegas in January and recorded a team-high eight catches and 133 yards, while also scoring a touchdown over the team's three preseason contests. The wide receiver spent the final month of the 2024 campaign on the Raiders' practice squad, and he could rejoin that group if he clears waivers.

  • Tommy Mellott: Cut by Las Vegas

Mellott was waived by the Raiders on Tuesday.

Mellott was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, recording two catches for one yard while appearing in all three preseason games. Considering the draft capital spent on him in April, it's likely that Las Vegas will look to add the wide receiver to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

  • Jalen Reagor WR | LAC

    Jalen Reagor: Released by Chargers

The Chargers released Reagor on Tuesday.

Unable to earn a depth role, Reagor becomes an unrestricted free agent. He's 26 years old and seemingly maxed out as an end-of-roster type, with no hint of living up to the hype of being a 2020 first-round pick for Philadelphia.

  • Cornell Powell WR | PIT

    Cornell Powell: Cut by Houston

The Texans waived Powell on Tuesday.

After being drafted by Kansas City in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, Powell has had a hard time finding opportunities in the league, as he's played in only three regular-season games (all in 2022). The Clemson product won't make Houston's initial 53-man roster despite shining in his lone preseason contest with the club, catching six of seven targets for 63 yards Saturday versus Detroit.

  • Alex Bachman WR | LV

Alex Bachman: Fails to make Raiders' roster

The Raiders released Bachman on Tuesday.

Bachman spent most of the 2024 season on the Raiders' practice squad, though he did play in six regular-season games. He entered training camp gunning for a spot on the 53-man roster but wasn't able to separate himself from the competition, finishing with four catches (on seven targets) for 51 yards across three preseason games. Bachman is a candidate to return to the Raiders as a member of the team's practice squad.

  • Ronnie Bell WR | NO

    Ronnie Bell: Heads to waivers

The Lions waived Bell on Tuesday.

A 2023 seventh-round pick, Bell spent his first two seasons with the 49ers and caught eight passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns while also mixing in on kick and punt returns. His special-teams ability gives him a good chance to stick around on the practice squad.

  • Juwann Winfree WR | HOU

Texans' Juwann Winfree: Lands on IR with undisclosed injury

The Texans placed Winfree (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday.

Winfree signed with the Texans on Aug. 18 and played in Saturday's preseason finale against the Lions where he logged a 26-yard catch on his lone target. The nature and severity of his injury aren't clear, but by being placed on IR without a designation to return, Winfree will be forced to miss the entire 2025 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with Houston.

  • Malik Taylor WR | DET

    Malik Taylor: Dropped by Lions

The Lions released Taylor on Tuesday.

Taylor spent the 2024 season on injured reserve due to an undisclosed injury, and he was unable to carve out a role in a deep wide receiver room in Detroit. The 29-year-old has caught nine passes for 93 yards and a touchdown since entering the league in 2019.

  • Tom Kennedy WR | DET

Tom Kennedy: Let go by Lions

The Lions waived Kennedy on Tuesday.

Kennedy spent most of the 2024 season on the Lions' practice squad, but he suited up in four games and recorded 167 kick-return yards and no catches. The 29-year-old will likely serve in a similar role in 2025.
