Head coach Sean McVay said Monday that Garrett (knee) is making "really good progress" in the edge rusher's recovery, with the goal of playing in Week 1 against the 49ers, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.

Garrett, whom the Rams acquired in an offseason trade with Cleveland, didn't play in the preseason and has been unable to practice for most of August while dealing with swelling in his knee. The Rams remain hopeful that Garrett will recover by the time the team kicks off regular-season play against the 49ers in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday, Sept. 10. Los Angeles added more star power to its defensive line Sunday by signing defensive tackle Aaron Donald to a one-year, $20 million contract.

Byrd (ankle) reverted to the Texans' injured-reserve list Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Byrd suffered an ankle injury during last Friday's preseason finale against the Panthers. The defensive end had virtually no chance of making the 53-man roster, so he was waived with an injury designation. The 26-year-old went unclaimed and now will spend the entirety of the 2026 regular season on IR unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

Ulofoshio (biceps) reverted to the Browns' IR on Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Ulofoshio suffered a biceps injury in Cleveland's final preseason contest Thursday and was waived/injured Sunday. He went unclaimed on waivers and consequently reverted to injured reserve. As a result, Ulofoshio won't be able to play during the 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Browns.

The Browns reverted Chatman (quadriceps) to IR on Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Chatman hurt his quad in Cleveland's preseason finale and was subsequently waived/injured Sunday. He wasn't claimed on waivers, so he reverted to IR. That means Chatman will miss the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Browns.

Dean (undisclosed) reverted to the Packers' injured-reserve list Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

The Packers waived Dean on Sunday with an injury designation. The safety went unclaimed and will now spend the entirety of the 2026 regular season on IR unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

Hayes (undisclosed) reverted to the Panthers' injured-reserve list Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.

The offensive tackle was waived/injured Aug. 29. Hayes will now need to reach an injury settlement with the Panthers to have a chance to play this season. The 2023 seventh-round pick of the Dolphins has dressed for one NFL regular-season game in his career.

Niese (leg) reverted to the Lions' injured-reserve list Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Niese suffered a right leg injury in the Lions' preseason game against the Commanders on Aug. 22. The offensive lineman was waived Sunday with an injury designation and went unclaimed. Niese will now spend the entirety of the 2026 regular season on IR unless he is waived with an injury settlement.

Manning (undisclosed) reverted to the Bears' injured reserve Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

By reverting to injured reserve, Manning will be forced to miss the entire 2026 season unless an injury settlement is reached with Chicago. He played in each of the Bears' first two preseason games, logging 11 tackles (nine solo) and two pass defenses.

Hyppolite (shoulder) reverted to Chicago's injured reserve Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Hyppolite is dealing with a shoulder injury that he picked up during the Bears' second preseason game against the Browns on Aug. 15. He was waived/injured by Chicago on Sunday, but he was moved to IR on Monday after going unclaimed. Hyppolite will be forced to sit for the entire 2026 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Bears.

Funderburk (undisclosed) reverted to the Panthers' injured-reserve list Monday, according to the NFL's official transaction log.

The cornerback was waived/injured by Carolina a day ago. He will now need to reach an injury settlement with the team to have a chance to play in 2026. Funderburk recorded five tackles during the preseason.
