The Giants cut Hodgins on Saturday.

Hodgins had some moments between 2022 and 2023 with the Giants, a span in which he tallied a 54-581-7 line on 85 targets across 25 regular-season games. Since then, he's been limited to 12 catches (on 21 targets) in five appearances with New York. Now that he's a free agent, he'll be eligible to sign elsewhere immediately.

The Jets cut Zappe on Saturday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.

Zappe signed with New York on a reserve/future contract in January and entered training camp with a legitimate shot to win the No. 2 QB job. However, he struggled during preseason play, completing just 14 of 23 passes for 135 yards with no touchdowns and two interceptions. Zappe's departure means that either Cade Klubnik or Brady Cook will serve as Geno Smith's backup when the regular season kicks off.

The Giants released Deguara on Saturday.

Since his rookie contract with the Packers ran out after the 2023 season, Deguara has split time between the Jaguars and Cardinals the last two years, combining for six catches (on eight targets) for 35 yards and one TD in 27 regular-season appearances. He then joined the 49ers at the start of training camp but was cut Monday before joining the Giants, playing preseason Week 3 and then getting cut again.

The Ravens waived McMillan on Saturday, Josh Tolentino of The Baltimore Sun reports.

McMillan signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent in early May and played in all three of the team's preseason contests. He performed very well, rushing 15 times for 109 yards (7.3 YPC), with more than half of that yardage coming on a 63-yard scamper. McMillan won't begin the regular season on the Ravens' 53-man roster, but he's a prime candidate to be part of the team's practice squad if he goes unclaimed on waivers.

The Raiders are waiving Clark, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

In his sole appearance of the preseason, the undrafted rookie completed one of two passes for 18 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions. In a QB room that also rosters 2026 first overall pick Fernando Mendoza and veterans Kirk Cousins and Aidan O'Connell, Clark would be hard-pressed to end up on the active roster this season even if he finds a spot on Las Vegas' practice squad.

Virgil caught three of six targets for 23 yards in a loss to Green Bay during Friday's exhibition contest.

Virgil's line was especially quiet in comparison to some of the other wideouts he's competing with a for a spot on the 53-man roster, including Simi Fehoko (5-94-2) and Jalen Brooks (4-57-0). Still, Virgil showed pretty well during the exhibition slate overall, catching 12 of 18 targets for 158 yards over four games. The fact that he was a fifth-round pick in April's NFL Draft could also help his case given that the organization might want to take a longer look at him.

The Broncos are releasing Prentice, but he's expected to return on the team's practice squad, Chris Tomasson of The Denver Gazette reports.

As a vested veteran, Prentice doesn't need to clear waivers to land elsewhere, but apparently that isn't a consideration in this case. Assuming the fullback ends up on Denver's practice squad, the team will be able to elevate him three times to the active roster before needing to make a decision to bring him back to the active roster for good.

Brooks caught all four of his targets for 57 yards during Friday's exhibition loss to Green Bay.

Brooks played only 16 offensive snaps but shined during his time on the field, with his longest reception being a 20-yard connection with Gardner Minshew early in the second quarter. Brooks performed very well during the preseason, catching 15 of 17 targets for a team-leading 222 yards and one touchdown. That could go a long way to helping him secure a spot on the 53-man roster as a depth wideout option.

The Commanders are waiving Nash, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports.

After joining Atlanta as an undrafted rookie last offseason, Nash was a roster casualty on cutdown day last August. He quickly landed with the Falcons' practice squad, where he remained for all of the 2025 campaign. This time around, Nash's fate was learned ahead of cutdown day, but he now will be a candidate to land on a practice squad if he clears waivers.

Gray caught three of four targets for 38 yards Friday in an exhibition loss to Cincinnati.

Gray finished with the second-most receiving yards for the Eagles behind running back Carson Steele's 52. Gray dealt with a concussion in mid-August but was able to return and make one final case for a spot on the 53-man roster. He's likely a long shot to do so, however, given that he hasn't logged a regular-season NFL snap since 2022.
