  • Phil Mafah RB | DAL

Cowboys' Phil Mafah: One carry, one TD in preseason win

Mafah took his only carry for a 15-yard touchdown in Saturday's 34-13 preseason win over the Cardinals.

Mafah played just three snaps in the contest. Outside of the touchdown, the running back also returned two kicks for 21 yards and 19 yards, respectively. With cut-down day set for Sunday, Mafah's hat is in the ring for the No. 3 running back role. Friday's preseason finale against the Saints may go a long way in determining whether Mafah, Jaydon Blue or Israel Abanikanda will make the final 53-man roster.

  • Dylan Horton DE | HOU

Texans' Dylan Horton: Lands on IR

The Texans placed Horton (Achilles) on injured reserve Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Horton's season is officially over after he tore his ACL during Monday's practice. The 25-year-old will now shift his focus to getting healthy for the 2027 campaign.

  • Clelin Ferrell DE | MIA

    Dolphins' Clelin Ferrell: Practices Tuesday

Ferrell (undisclosed) was a full participant in Tuesday's practice, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.

Ferrell suffered an injury in early August that was set to sideline him for multiple weeks. The veteran defensive end has returned to full participation slightly over two weeks after the injury occurred. The 29-year-old will likely play in Friday's preseason finale against the Falcons.

  • 49ers' Rob Jones: Dealing with calf issue

Jones (calf) did not participate at the 49ers' training camp practice Tuesday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Per Wagoner, coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that Jones has a chance to return to the field next week. For now, 2025 seventh-rounder Connor Colby could get some reps with the first-team offensive line.

  • Malik Spencer SAF | WAS

    Malik Spencer: Waived/injured by Washington

The Commanders waived Spencer (undisclosed) with an injury designation Tuesday.

Brents suffered an injury in early August and returned to practice in a limited capacity last Tuesday. The cornerback is officially all set to go and could see some snaps during Friday's preseason finale against the Falcons if the Dolphins would like him to see some game-day reps before the regular season commences.

  • 49ers' Kurtis Rourke: Working back from rib injury

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that Rourke (ribs) has a chance to return to the field next week, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Rourke suffered three broken ribs during San Francisco's preseason opener versus the Titans, but it seems like the injury may not keep the quarterback on the sidelines much longer. Until Rourke is healthy again, Adrian Martinez still projects as the 49ers' third signal-caller behind Brock Purdy and Mac Jones.
