Myers inked a three-year, $9 million contract with the Canucks on Thursday. Myers had five goals, 29 points, 77 PIM, 110 hits and 136 blocks in 77 regular-season contests with Vancouver in 2023-24. He's taking a significant pay cut compared to his previous seven-year, $38.5 million contract, but that's appropriate given that he'll turn 38 before this deal expires. Myers is likely to start the 2024-25 campaign on the second or third pairing.

Myers (illness) is expected to draw back into the lineup for Game 3 against Nashville on Friday, per Adam Kimelman of NHL.com. Myers had five goals, 29 points, 77 PIM, 110 hits and 136 blocks in 77 contests during the regular season. He missed Tuesday's 4-1 Game 2 loss to Nashville because of the illness. Now that Myers is healthy, he'll probably serve on the second pairing while Noah Juulsen might be scratched.

Myers is dealing with the flu, which caused him to miss Game 2 against the Predators on Tuesday, Thomas Drance of The Athletic reports. Myers had been rolling offensively prior to falling ill, recording five points in his last six games, including a short-handed goal. Without Myers in the lineup, Noah Juulsen stepped into the lineup Tuesday and will likely continue to fill in for Myers if he remains unavailable for Game 3 on Friday.

Myers has had success in a top-four role this season, so it's notable he's out of the lineup for this contest. The Canucks have not specified a reason for his absence. Myers scored a shorthanded goal on three shots, added an assist, blocked three shots and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Flames. Myers extended his point streak to four games with his first multi-point effort since Dec. 17. His tally was his fifth of the season, two of which have been shorthanded. The 34-year-old defenseman is up to 29 points, 92 shots on net, 106 hits, 133 blocked shots, 77 PIM and a plus-18 rating. If he plays Thursday versus the Jets, he'll have a chance at his first 30-point campaign since 2018-19.
