Reimer was claimed off waivers by Buffalo on Wednesday from Anaheim, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Reimer has a record of 0-2-0 with a 4.50 GAA and an .864 save percentage over two appearances with the Ducks in 2024-25. While those numbers are subpar, he was serviceable last season, posting an 11-8-2 record, 3.11 GAA and .904 save percentage across 25 outings with Detroit. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, so for now Reimer might split the goaltending duties with Devon Levi. When Luukkonen is healthy, Reimer could shift to being his understudy while Levi, who has a 4.10 GAA and an .866 save percentage in five outings this season, might head to the AHL to work on his game. Unlike Reimer, Levi doesn't have to pass through waivers to be sent to the minors.

Reimer was waived by the Ducks on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports. Reimer was always going to be the odd man out in Anaheim once John Gibson returned from his appendectomy. With the Avalanche losing Kaapo Kahkonen on waivers to Winnipeg on Tuesday, Colorado may be in the market for a veteran like Reimer, or the Sabres might try to bring Reimer back after losing him on waivers to Anaheim before the season. If he clears waivers, Reimer figures to join up with AHL San Diego, potentially playing in the minors for the first time since 2010-11 when he was with the Toronto Marlies.

Reimer stopped 28 of 34 shots in Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Devils. Reimer made his second start of the year and didn't do well. He's allowed nine goals on 66 shots so far while serving as backup to Lukas Dostal. John Gibson (abdomen) is traveling with the Ducks on their current road trip, which has two more stops with visits to the Islanders on Tuesday and the Penguins on Thursday. That means Reimer has likely run out of time to make a positive impression -- he could be waived once Gibson is ready to return.

Reimer will be between the pipes for Sunday's road game versus New Jersey, according to Mike Morreale of NHL.com. Reimer will make his second appearance of the season as Anaheim is on the second half of a back-to-back. The 36-year-old made 29 saves on 32 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights on Oct. 13. The Devils are averaging 3.45 goals per game.

Reimer stopped 29 of 32 shots in a 3-1 loss to the Golden Knights on Sunday. Reimer kept things even over the first two periods, but the Golden Knights pulled away with a pair of goals in the third, one of which came on a power play. Reimer was claimed off waivers from Buffalo before Opening Night as the Ducks wanted a veteran backup for Lukas Dostal while John Gibson (abdomen) is on the mend. Dostal put up a shutout in his first start of the year, so Reimer's playing time is likely to be sparse over the remainder of the month.
