Connauton was called up from AHL Tucson on Wednesday. Connauton was called up to cover for the absence of Robert Bortuzzo (lower body), who is likely to miss time after getting hurt Tuesday versus the Wild. Connauton may not draw into the lineup -- Vladislav Kolyachonok will likely get the first chance to replace Bortuzzo.

Connauton was put on waivers Monday for the purpose of reassignment to AHL Tucson. Connauton collected three goals and 18 points across 61 regular-season contests with AHL Ontario in 2023-24. The 34-year-old defender has 28 goals and 80 points over 360 career NHL contests. Assuming he doesn't get claimed off waivers, he could be a call-up option for Utah in the 2024-25 campaign.

Connauton signed a two-year, two-way contract with Utah HC on Monday, per Darren Dreger of TSN. Connauton had three goals, 18 points and 77 PIM across 61 regular-season contests with AHL Ontario in 2023-24. He'll likely start next season in the minors, but the 34-year-old should be in the conversation for a promotion to Utah in the event of injuries.

Connauton was waived Sunday, Chris Johnston of TSN reports. Connauton was acquired in June as part of a three-team deal with Philadelphia and Columbus that sent Ivan Provorov to the Blue Jackets. The 33-year-old Connauton had three goals, 15 points and 49 PIM in 63 games with AHL Lehigh Valley last season.
