Tokarski stopped 20 of 24 shots in Monday's 5-2 loss to the Predators. The fifth goal was an empty-netter with 3:12 left in the third period. Tokarski made his second start of the season Monday but didn't look good, especially when his lone previous start was a 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets in which he stopped 27 of 28 shots. Tokarski is expected to remain as Pyotr Kochetkov's backup for the foreseeable future, so he's not expected to carry a lot of fantasy upside outside of being a potential streaming option when Kochetkov gets some rest.

Tokarski will be in the blue paint on the road Monday against the Predators, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports. Tokarski turned aside 27 of 28 shots in a 4-1 win over Columbus in his only start this season Dec. 15. The 35-year-old hasn't faced the Predators since the 2015-16 campaign when he was with Montreal. Nashville ranks last in the NHL with 2.32 goals per game.

Tokarski stopped 27 of 28 shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Blue Jackets. This was Tokarski's first NHL win since Jan. 10, 2023, when he was a member of the Penguins. The 35-year-old is up with the Hurricanes in a backup role behind Pyotr Kochetkov since Frederik Andersen (knee) is hurt and Spencer Martin had struggled as the backup earlier in the year. Tokarski's playing time is likely to remain limited, but the Hurricanes have a back-to-back next Sunday and Monday with road games against the Rangers and Predators just before the holiday break.

Tokarski will protect the home net against Columbus on Sunday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports. Tokarski has a 4-1-0 record with a 1.61 GAA and a .933 save percentage in five AHL appearances this season. The 35-year-old netminder will get his first NHL action since the 2022-23 campaign, when he went 1-2-0 with a 3.44 GAA and an .897 save percentage in four regular-season outings for Pittsburgh. Columbus ranks ninth in the league with 3.30 goals per game in 2024-25 and lost 4-3 in overtime to Anaheim on Saturday.

Tokarski signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on Monday. He was placed on waivers to be returned to AHL Chicago, per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet. Tokarski has a 4-1-0 record with a 1.61 GAA and a .933 save percentage in five appearances with Carolina's top minor-league affiliate this season. The 35-year-old Tokarski will provide the Hurricanes with veteran depth between the pipes. Pyotr Kochetkov (concussion) may play in Tuesday's home game versus Seattle, but Frederik Andersen (knee) isn't close to being available.
