De Haan signed a one-year, $800,000 contract with the Avalanche on Monday, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia. De Haan had three goals, 10 points, 96 hits and 82 blocked shots in 59 regular-season appearances with the Lightning in 2023-24. The 33-year-old should be in the mix for a third-pairing role, but it wouldn't be surprising if he ends up as Colorado's seventh defenseman on the depth chart.

De Haan becomes a free agent this offseason. The veteran defender, who inked a one-year deal for $775,000 last summer, put up three goals and seven assists in 59 games this season. De Haan was scratched for nine of the Lightning's last 11 games, despite putting up an assist in each of the two games played. He played in one postseason game in 2023-24, delivering two blocked shots and one hit in 10:50 of ice time. At his best, de Haan could give you triple-digit hits and blocked shots, but he needs to ink a contract this summer. He'll soon be 33, and the journeyman may struggle to find a suitor. He hasn't played a full season since 2016-17 for the Islanders.

De Haan fired three shots Saturday in a 5-3 win over Florida. De Haan has just three goals and five assists in 54 games this season after tallying 12 points in 53 games with Carolina last year. He has been a healthy scratch in three of the Bolts' five games in March after a stretch in mid-February when he dressed just once in a six-game span. De Haan needs to be on the ice with greater consistency before he produces. As a result, his fantasy value is negligible.

De Haan put Tampa ahead 3-2 midway through the third period, beating Sam Montembeault from the circle for his first goal with the Lightning. The goal is de Haan's second point in his last 24 games. Overall, he has four points (a goal and three assists) with a minus-4 rating through 33 contests in a third-pairing role in Tampa Bay.
